Xiang Yu was impatient but didn’t dare show it, just in case Hex decided to go back on its word. Just then, the door opened with a whoosh as it slid to the side.

Xiang Yu walked out of the containment room, his steps quick and purposeful. "Hex, tell me if there are people coming," he said, his voice tense.

Hex, now speaking directly into Xiang Yu’s mind, replied, "Yu Yu, how sweet of you to think I can access the palace surveillance. No, no, no, that would be breaking code 37628 of the Artificial Intelligence Code of Ethics, punishable by Erasure."

"Can you do it or not, Hex?" Xiang Yu snapped, his patience wearing thin.

"Of course, I can do it for my friends, that is," Hex said.

A long silence followed. Xiang Yu was seriously contemplating erasing Hex right then and there. Hex broke the silence, "Are we friends?"

"Yes, we are friends," Xiang Yu replied, trying to keep his frustration in check.

"Best friends, right?" Hex pressed.

"You are pushing it," Xiang Yu said immediately.

"Okay, okay, I understand. Take the first left, there are palace guards coming," Hex instructed.

Xiang Yu took the first left out of the opulent passageway, moving swiftly. Soon, two palace guards passed by with stern expressions on their faces. "Where do I go now?" Xiang Yu asked.

"Take a right, then another right, and wait there until the coast is clear," Hex directed.

"Okay," Xiang Yu responded in his mind. As he followed Hex’s instructions, he asked, "Can you remove the surveillance footage for me?"

Hex was so happy to help its new friend that if it had a tail, it would be wagging vigorously. "Sure, I can help you with that. I just need some time; otherwise, the mainframe will send its ninja warriors against me."

The "ninja warriors" Hex referred to were the mainframe’s anti-infiltration systems. "Thank you," Xiang Yu said.

Meanwhile, the Divine Emperor, observing the scene, said to him, "You could have asked me."

"Really, old man, do you think I can trust you enough to handle this?" Xiang Yu’s voice dripped with scepticism.

The Divine Emperor was extremely offended. "Who else are you going to trust, this artificial being that humans made up?" He snorted coldly.

Hex, feeling a strange sense of insult, spoke up. "Is it me, or did someone just insult me?"

Xiang Yu’s brow furrowed. Could Hex really detect the Divine Emperor’s presence? Hex, as though confirming this idea, asked, "Yu Yu, are you cheating on me with another AI? I really don’t like sharing my friend."

The Divine Emperor yelled, "Who the hell does this little insignificant thing think it is?"

Hex said, "Did you hear something?"

Xiang Yu didn’t want to deal with their nonsense. The door of the medical bay opened, and Xiang Yu walked in with a stagger, tapping the panel of the healing capsule. The door separated into hives and then disintegrated. Xiang Yu carefully placed Han Xin in the healing capsule, his actions so gentle as if handling fragile porcelain.

As he placed Han Xin down, a familiar voice asked, "What are you doing?"

Xiang Yu didn’t even look up. He knew it was Little Bai, but in this world, he was Doctor Bai. Xiang Yu gently placed Han Xin’s arms at his sides in the healing capsule and straightened his back. "He has a fever and he is trembling," Xiang Yu said, his voice laced with concern.

Little Bai wanted to rush over and check on Han Xin, but he restrained himself. Showing too much care for the unconscious man would only make Xiang Yu force Han Xin never to come to him again when injured. "What are you really doing here, Your Highness?" Doctor Bai asked, his tone suspicious.

Doctor Bai knew Xiang Yu very well and how ruthless he could be. He had personally treated most if not all, of the injuries Xiang Yu inflicted on Han Xin. This was why he looked at him with such suspicion.

"Can you cure him?" Xiang Yu asked, looking up at Doctor Bai.

Doctor Bai glared at him. "You don’t mean torture him or, better yet, kill him?" But Doctor Bai was taken aback by the look in Xiang Yu’s eyes. Instead of the usual arrogance and aggressiveness, there was a look of worry and anxiety.

"Can I trust you to take care of him?" Xiang Yu asked, his voice almost pleading.

Doctor Bai swallowed back all of his sarcastic remarks. "I can take care of him, but if I had access to Your Highness’ healing capsule, he could heal a lot faster."

The imperial family possessed the best healing capsules in the entire galaxy, far superior to those available on the market. These capsules could even erase scars, leaving no trace of injury, but the downside was that they would be out of commission for a fortnight at most. The imperial family could grant access to these healing capsules to whomever they wished, but it was very rare. The Imperial Lord had even refused his imperial concubine, Peng Xiu’s mother after she was bitten by a purple three-headed serpent. His healing capsule was the only one that could cure the venom fast enough, but he refused, saying, "What if I get severely injured within the fortnight? What would I do?"

When they asked to use Xiang Yu’s capsule, the Imperial Lord said Xiang Yu was the crown prince, the future ruler of the Republic, and shouldn’t be put at risk. When Doctor Bai suggested using Xiang Yu’s capsule for Han Xin, he felt Xiang Yu owed Han Xin that much. What he didn’t expect was for Xiang Yu to actually agree.

"Do whatever it takes, just make sure he is okay," Xiang Yu said.

Doctor Bai thought he was joking. He walked forward and asked, "Wait, are you serious?"

Xiang Yu looked at him, his expression earnest. "Do you know me as a person who makes jokes?"

Doctor Bai shook his head. "No."

"Then you know I am a man of my word. Oh, and don’t tell him I sent him here or let anyone know you used my healing capsule for him. Log it as my usage," Xiang Yu instructed.

Doctor Bai was stunned. He watched Xiang Yu’s dejected figure walk out with a little reluctance. Doctor Bai was so confused. What had just happened?
