Chapter 140: "You are heartless.

Chapter 140: "You are heartless.

As he examined the ripe peaches and plums, something caught his eye. It was a jade pendant carved with a delicate lotus flower. It was strikingly similar to the one he had once gifted his mother, a token of his love that she had coldly rejected. Now, he thought, he would give it to Han Xin. He purchased the pendant, tucking it safely into his cloak.

The three of them mounted their horses and rode back to camp, the rhythmic thud of hooves on the dirt a comforting sound. They arrived midmorning but the camp’s usual lively atmosphere had been replaced by a heavy, oppressive gloom. Xiang Yu glanced up at the sky, puzzled. When had the clouds gathered? The skies had been so clear just hours ago.

When Han Zhan spotted Peng Xiu he rushed over, his face a mix of relief and frustration. "Your Highness, why would you leave without telling him?" he demanded, his voice barely above a whisper as he shook her. "He was going crazy!"

Before Xiang Yu could respond, a cold voice cut through the air. "Han Zhan!"

Han Zhan froze, his grip on Peng Xiu loosening as if he had touched a hot coal. He turned to see Han Xin approaching, his expression dark and forbidding. He knew all too well that Han Xin was fiercely possessive of his things especially when it came to his person.

"Cousin, I—" he began, but Han Xin silenced him with a glare. He grabbed Xiang Yu’s hand and pulled him away, his grip firm and unyielding.

Lian and Mei exchanged worried glances. "Why is the general so mad?" Mei whispered.

"Is our master going to be okay?" Lian asked, her voice a little worried.

Han Zhan swallowed hard, recalling the chaos of the morning when Han Xin had discovered she was missing. "It was horrible," he admitted, his voice barely audible. "Han Xin was beside himself."

Han Xin suddenly stopped and stared into her eyes. Xiang Yu’s heart skipped a beat upon seeing Han Xin’s intense gaze, but he maintained a calm façade. Unbeknownst to him, his nonchalant attitude only served to fuel Han Xin’s smouldering rage.

"Where have you been?" he asked his voice low and dangerous, each word laced with restrained fury.

Xiang Yu’s lips curved into a mischievous smile, his eyes sparkling with unspoken secrets. "Oh, you know, just around. I needed some fresh air. I thought I did give you some time to miss me."

Han Xin’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenching tightly. Without a word, he dragged her towards the carriage, his movements swift and purposeful. Xiang Yu chuckled internally, his body yielding easily to this man’s dominance. As the Demon King of the northern realm, he enjoyed playing with fire, especially when it involved messing with this immortal.

Inside the carriage, Han Xin pressed Xiang Yu against the plush seat, his body a solid wall of muscle and heat. Xiang Yu’s smile widened, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Is this how you welcome me back, General Han? With such... enthusiasm?"

Han Xin’s face was a mask of controlled fury. He leaned in close, his breath fanning Xiang Yu’s cheek, hot and intense. His hand shot beneath the seat, retrieving a hidden box.

Xiang Yu’s curiosity was piqued as Han Xin opened the box, revealing a set of iron cuffs and other things. What especially caught his attention was the pair of potatoes but he didn’t get to take a better look when Han Xin closed the box.

He watched silently as Han Xin snapped the cuffs around his wrists, the metal cold against his skin. Xiang Yu’s eyes sparkled with delight at Han Xin’s possessive display. "You are so cute when you are angry," he said, further antagonising him, followed by a soft chuckle escaping his lips.

Han Xin’s response was swift and rough. He grabbed Xiang Yu’s cuffed wrists and pinned them above his head, his muscular body pressing down on Xiang Yu, claiming every inch of him. Xiang Yu’s laugh turned into a low moan as Han Xin’s mouth descended upon his, devouring his lips in a fierce kiss. Their tongues clashed, a battle of dominance and desire.

Han Xin’s breath was indeed fiery, like a dragon’s breath, searing Xiang Yu’s senses and igniting a burning need within him. His demon blood, starved of Han Xin’s Qi for far too long, reacted fiercely. He eagerly returned the kiss, sucking on Han Xin’s tongue and nipping at his lower lip, marking him as his own.

As the kiss deepened, Han Xin’s hand roamed over Xiang Yu’s waist, his fingers digging into the soft flesh, leaving invisible marks of possession. Xiang Yu arched into the touch, his body yearning for more. He wanted to consume Han Xin, to feel his passion and anger melt into pure, raw desire.

Suddenly, Han Xin broke the kiss, his breath ragged. He released his wrists and sat back, his hair falling over his eyes appearing dejected, his face buried in his hands. His chest rose and fell rapidly. Xiang Yu, dazed and craving more, sat up straight, his knees bent slightly as he occupied one of the plush on the carriage seat his eyes questioning.

"Ah-Yu... you..." Han Xin’s voice cracked, his hand dropping from his eyes to reveal a vulnerable expression. "You are heartless. You play with my feelings, and you don’t even care."

Xiang Yu’s gaze was intense as he studied him. Slowly, he reached out, the clinking of the metal chains around his wrists filling the carriage with a soft, steady rhythm.

His fingers gently brushed against Han Xin’s cheek, urging him to look up. Han Xin’s initial resistance melted away as he felt the warmth of Xiang Yu’s touch. He lifted his head, his eyes meeting Xiang Yu’s, a mix of emotions swirling within their depths.

"I will always come back to you," Xiang Yu whispered, his voice low and husky. "As long as you want me, I will be here."

Han Xin’s heart skipped a beat at the promise in those words. He could see the sincerity in Xiang Yu’s eyes, a rare glimpse into the depths of his soul. "I will never not want you," he murmured, his voice muffled against Xiang Yu’s shoulder.

The intoxicating scent of plumeria enveloped him. Xiang Yu chuckled softly a sound that resonated deep within Han Xin’s chest. He nuzzled against Xiang Yu’s neck, feeling the warmth radiating from his skin. He sucked hard at Xiang Yu’s skin, a bold declaration.

A gasp escaped his lips as he elongated his neck instinctively. "Damn," came the breathy moan from him as he tangled his fingers in Han Xin’s hair. Han Xin left behind a bright hickey marking his lover as his own. He massaged it gently with his thumb before leaning in closer to kiss the corner of Xiang Yu’s lips. His actions were intense yet delicate.
