Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again
Chapter 44: Departure to Town

Chapter 44: Departure to Town

The next morning, before he left, Draven stood alone in the forest, a fair distance from Akhabara.

He whistled.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then the branches above rustled.

Leaves trembled, and the faint sound of shifting weight on tree limbs echoed through the air.

Something moved fast.

Draven didn’t flinch as a shadow descended behind him and subtly whispered behind his ear.

"You took too long to visit."

Draven sighed.

"Been busy at Akhabara."

Yena pouted, her lips forming an adorable scowl.

"Not fair."

Before Draven could answer, another presence emerged from the trees.

A tall elf with long yellow hair, sharp golden eyes, and an athletic build stepped forward.

Yuri.

He had taken over as the acting leader of the elves in North Riftwater.

Draven scanned the group.

It had been a week since he last saw them.

Three weeks ago, the elves had requested him to lift more curses from their tribe.

So, every week, Draven visited.

And somehow, they made him their boss.

The elves still refused to cooperate with humans, regardless of their I.D.s.

But Draven?

He was different.

They accepted him.

Respected him.

And listened only to him.

Yuri asked. "Boss, why are you here today?"

Draven smirked.

"I’m heading to town."

Yena froze.

"What? You’re leaving us?"

Her golden eyes widened, the start of tears forming.

Draven flicked her forehead.

"Ouch!"

"Don’t be dramatic. I’m just checking on the Verdants there."

Yet Yuri’s expression remained unreadable.

"And what do you want us to do?"

Draven smiles slightly.

"Keep watching them from afar."

Despite Naisha, Gil, Kael, and others with skill...

Despite Akhabara growing stronger every day...

It still wasn’t enough.

If he was leaving, he wanted absolute assurance that nothing would happen while he was gone.

The elves were stronger after reconnecting with their true nature.

They became faster and more intelligent, especially when the battlefield was the forest.

The elves were his last layer of defense in case of emergency.

"I need to go."

All the elves bow to him as they leave.

"Bye-bye," Yena said in sadness.

---

From a far distance, Gil’s [Hawk’s eyes] remained locked on Draven.

Naisha crouched beside him.

"What’s he doing?"

They had been following Draven ever since he left Akhabara’s gate.

But they knew that if they weren’t careful, Draven would sense them immediately.

"I can’t see him clearly," Gil muttered.

"Too many trees and leaves blocking the view."

Naisha’s gaze sharpened.

"Is he with Bella?"

Gil sighed.

"I’m trying to get a clear view."

He adjusted his position, squinting through the branches.

Finally, he managed to spot Draven’s figure.

But the moment he locked onto him, Draven was already looking right at him.

Instantly, he vanished.

Gil’s stomach dropped.

"Run—"

But before he could finish his sentence, Naisha was already gone.

[Shadow Fade!]

Only her afterimage dissolved into mist as she blinked backward and turned invisible.

’That girl just abandoned me.’

Gil barely had time to react before a voice whispered from behind him.

"Why are you guys following me?"

Gil sighed, closing his eyes.

"Naisha..."

Draven stood there, arms crossed, his usual smile in place.

Gil turned, keeping a serious expression.

"Sorry, but Naisha pleaded with me to come. She wanted to see what you were doing in the forest."

Draven raised an eyebrow.

"I met the elves."

Gil didn’t respond to what Draven just said.

Draven continued. "I asked them to help secure this place. If you guys need backup while I’m gone, call them."

Gil nodded, understanding.

He knew Draven very well since he had been with him through all his plans.

Even though he didn’t fully understand everything, he still followed him.

He trusts him completely.

---

Meanwhile, Naisha sprinted back toward Akhabara.

Her frustration burned hotter than her stamina.

As she reached the gate, Draven was already there, waiting.

Naisha froze.

’How the hell is he here already?!’

Did he fly?

Did he switch skills again?!

Only three people knew how Draven’s abilities worked.

Mother Venice, Gil, and herself.

"Going outside?" Naisha asked, without casting him a glance.

Draven smirked.

"Still can’t move on that Bella’s with me?"

Naisha twitched.

’Did Gil tell him?!’

She gritted her teeth.

"Why should I care? Even if you sleep with her, I don’t care."

Draven chuckled.

"That’s oddly specific, babe."

Naisha clicked her tongue, turning away.

Just then, Bella, Kaner, Deka, and Mother Venice arrived.

As she looked back, her eyes immediately locked onto Bella.

The woman stood confidently in her violet-fit clothes, her alluring curves and generous chest impossible to ignore.

Naisha’s gaze dropped to her own chest.

Compared to Bella’s, hers were just medium.

She sighed.

Her eyes flicked toward Draven, only to find him already staring at her.

Draven’s grin grew.

But before Naisha could react, he casually looked away, shifting his focus to Mother Venice.

"So, you’re leaving now?" Mother Venice asked.

Draven stretched.

"Yes, madam. Want a souvenir when I get back?"

She chuckled.

"Bring all the Verdants here."

Draven waved her off.

"Nah. Never mind."

Despite the humor, Mother Venice’s expression softened.

"Be careful, Draven."

She wasn’t just saying it as a leader.

She meant it.

Draven had already been through hell with them.

And now he wasn’t just leaving for a week or two.

This would be a long journey.

Draven grinned.

"Enough with the drama. I’ll come back no matter what since my babe is here."

Mother Venice smiled.

"Ah, so that’s why you left Naisha here? To prove you’ll return?"

She turned to Naisha.

"You heard that?"

Naisha huffed, refusing to respond.

Everyone already knew.

She was important to him.

As Draven passed her, he leaned in slightly.

"Don’t worry, I dislike bigger. I still prefer premium medium size."

Naisha stiffened.

Her face flushed slightly before she whispered back,

"...Pervert."

Draven chuckled as he climbed onto his horse.

Deka and Bella followed.

Within moments, the three rode out toward the forest.

Mother Venice watched them disappear before stepping closer to Naisha.

"You’ve changed a lot, Naisha."

Naisha turned, confused.

"What do you mean, Mother?"

Mother Venice smiled.

"You’re showing your emotions now. I’m happy for you."

What Mother Venice is talking about is showing softness to Draven.

Naisha blinked, then frowned.

"But I always show emotions."

But she misunderstands what Mother Venice said.

"I’m always angry.

"Or serious."

"Right?"

But Mother Venice only chuckled, leaving her confused.
