Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again -
Chapter 32: A Mysterious Blue Figure
Chapter 32: A Mysterious Blue Figure
Slowly, Second raised his hand. His three fingers extended; forefinger, middle, and ring, the rest curled into his palm.
A deep hum resonated through the air.
The sky darkened.
Energy crackled at his fingertips.
It was a burning blue light, seething, fusing, forming a singular, absolute point.
His eyes, cold and distant, were locked onto Draven and Naisha.
"How were you able to lift the curse?"
But then he added. "No, it doesn’t matter. You’re still lowly Verdants. DIE."
A beam of pure annihilation erupted from his palm.
A torrent of destructive force surged forward, devouring everything in its path.
"Deka!" Draven’s voice reached Deka.
Deka didn’t hesitate. He understood immediately.
[Indomitable Wall!]
The earth shook.
A massive, impenetrable barrier burst forth.
The colossal wall stood as the last line of defense, shielding the entire village from annihilation.
The impact was instant.
The beam collided with the Indomitable Wall.
A deafening roar tore through the battlefield as light and energy raged against unyielding stone.
Sparks erupted.
The very air trembled from the clash of forces.
For a moment, the wall held.
But then, a deep crack split across its surface.
It spread, slow at first, like a whisper of weakness.
Then another.
And another.
A sharp, splintering crack echoed through the battlefield.
"I can’t stop it!"
The energy of the beam raged against the barrier, pushing it to its limit—until, at last, the glow began to fade.
Its power flickered and faded, but the damage was already done.
The last of its energy faded away.
The Indomitable Wall shattered, scattering like glass.
Deka’s strength gave way.
Staggered, his breath ragged.
His vision blurred.
And his body was completely drained.
His legs gave out.
He collapsed, unconscious.
But Gil caught him and left him slowly on the ground.
As he was doing so, there was a sickening, wet-tearing sound.
Second’s right arm melted from his shoulder.
Yet his expression remained eerily calm.
He glanced at the remaining arm and then sighed.
"This human body is weak. It can’t handle my power."
His voice was devoid of emotion.
It was as if the loss was nothing more than an inconvenience.
He flexed his remaining fingers, testing his grip before tilting his head slightly.
"And to think I did not release my full power yet."
He raised his other arm.
The air trembled once more.
A new glow began to form at his fingertips.
Naisha moved.
In an instant, she vanished.
A sharp, rapid blink sent her darting through the battlefield in a zigzagging blur. Her figure phased in and out of sight.
Draven, Gil, Mother Venice, and the villagers watched in shock.
Her speed, her movement, wasn’t normal.
For someone who had no abilities, this was impossible.
Draven’s eyes narrowed.
’Maybe... is it because the curses and restrictions on her were removed?’
Yet, despite her unnatural speed, Second did not react.
He didn’t flinch.
He didn’t even tense up.
His body remained completely still.
Only his eyes moved, calmly following Naisha’s every shift, every blink, every unpredictable step.
Naisha appeared again.
She was directly in front of him.
Her blade flashed as she slashed at his neck.
But before the steel could cut through, a sharp, piercing light erupted from Second’s fingertip.
A laser.
Point-blank.
It shot straight through Naisha’s head.
Or so it seemed.
Her image faded like mist.
A mirage.
Second’s finger lowered slightly.
His eyes, cold and unreadable, flicked to the side.
Behind him, a voice whispered.
"What are you aiming at?"
Naisha was already there.
With perfect precision, Naisha’s blade sliced toward Second’s nape.
Her strike was clean, lethal, and unavoidable.
But before it could land, Second’s hand moved.
Without even looking, he caught her wrist.
His grip tightened like an unbreakable vice.
Before she could react, before she could blink away, he landed and simultaneously slammed her into the ground.
The impact was brutal.
The earth beneath them cracked apart, dust and debris exploding outward.
A sickening crunch filled the air as Naisha’s body rebounded off the ground from just the force.
Naisha coughed.
A spray of blood spilled from her lips.
Second was not letting go of Naisha’s wrist.
Naisha struggled.
Still, his grip was ironclad.
Without hesitation, he lifted her high into the air once more.
He was ready to slam her down again.
But before he could do it, Draven was already there.
"Release her!"
Draven’s body was battered, torn, and broken from the relentless fights.
His strength was drained. His muscles screamed in agony.
But none of that mattered.
Because it was Naisha we were talking about.
And for her, he would push himself beyond his limit.
Draven’s eyes burned with fury, a savage fire igniting within him.
Second saw him coming.
But he was calm.
Too calm.
Facing the beast of a man, he thought to himself.
’This one has speed.’
His eyes flicked downward, analyzing Draven’s movements and reading the flow of battle.
’This arm will break again if I take that hit.’
His decision was made.
Second let go of Naisha.
At the same moment, Draven’s Morphos came upward.
It was a devastating smash aimed directly at Second’s elbow, the very arm that was about to drive Naisha into the ground.
Instead of taking the blow, Second chose to evade.
He vanished.
Not from speed, but from perfect timing.
A minimal movement, a simple shift of his body that made the attack miss by mere inches.
Draven caught Naisha in mid-air.
Without wasting a second, he dashed backward, retreating to safety with her in his arms.
His heart pounded. His breath was ragged. But he didn’t stop moving.
Naisha coughed, forcing her eyes open just enough to see Draven’s furious, determined expression.
"Who are you?!" Draven was shouting at Second.
"You have no right to speak, Verdant."
Second raised his palm toward the sky.
Above him, a blue sphere began to form.
It is unstable, cracking with raw energy.
The air grew heavy. The battlefield froze.
A low, ominous hum vibrated through the earth as Draven and the others tensed.
Even without touching it, they could feel it.
This was different.
This wasn’t just an attack.
It was something worse.
Draven’s jaw clenched. Without hesitation, he handed Naisha over to Gil.
"Take her."
Gil’s hands tightened around Naisha as he watched Draven step forward.
One step.
Then another.
Each movement was slow and deliberate.
It was as if he was walking toward death itself.
His body was already at its limit. But none of it mattered.
Because if that sphere hits the village, it’s over.
Draven let out a slow breath.
He was ready to let go.
To take this attack head-on.
To stop it, no matter the cost.
But then...
Without warning...
The sphere vanished.
No explosion.
No shockwave.
Gone.
Draven’s breath caught in his throat.
His eyes flicked toward Second.
Something was wrong.
Second’s body twitched.
His movements became erratic and unnatural, like a machine failing to function.
He slowly lowered his gaze to his own hands, watching as his fingers jerked and spasmed uncontrollably.
A pause.
Then, in a low, almost indifferent tone, he muttered.
"So... it’s already a minute?"
Draven’s eyes widened.
"A minute...?"
His thoughts raced, piecing things together.
"Don’t tell me... this is what the old man meant... that I only needed to survive for a minute?"
Before he could process it further, a blue light flickered from within Second’s body.
Then, in an instant, a humanoid figure of pure blue energy emerged from Second’s chest.
It had no face, no distinct features.
It was just a blinding light shaped like a man.
And then it disappeared.
It vanished into thin air as if it had never existed.
Second’s body collapsed.
A dull thud echoed through the battlefield as he hit the ground.
Motionless.
Lifeless.
The air remained still.
The enemy that had seemed unstoppable was gone.
And for the first time in what felt like an eternity, Draven instantly collapsed to the ground.
