Chapter 79: Damage Control Mode Activated.

Chapter 79: Damage Control Mode Activated.

"In an unprecedented move, Justin Black has stepped down as CEO, handing over the reins to veteran Chloe Martinez. But that’s not all! He also wiped out a $300 million debt left behind by his parents. And here’s the real kicker—he didn’t even use Black Veil’s funds!"

The female presenter gasped. "Mon dieu!"

The male host nodded fiercely. "I know, right?! That’s three hundred million dollars. Not three. Not thirty. Three hundred. Where does an 18-year-old even get that kind of money?"

The third panelist, a bald guy with glasses, adjusted his tie. "Well, let’s consider the options here—"

Option One: His parents left him money to cover the debt.

"Nope!" The female presenter interrupted. "Justin’s parents’ lawyer and the bank confirmed that he can’t touch the inheritance yet."

Option Two: A secret backer. Some mystery billionaire funding him from the shadows.

The bald guy snapped his fingers. "Now that makes sense! Maybe they’re planning to take over Black Veil in return."

Option Three: Sugar mommy.

At this, Sasha snorted behind Justin.

The male host sat up. "I mean—think about it! Justin’s handsome, charismatic, and a known womanizer." On cue, the screen flashed to a picture of the current Justin in a, tailored suit, sharp smirk, looking like he owned the damn world.

The female presenter gasped, covering her mouth like she’d just seen an angel descend. "Mierda..."

The bald panelist laughed. "You good?"

She fanned herself dramatically. "Listen. With a face like that? I wouldn’t be surprised if some rich billionaire mommy fell for him and handed him a blank check."

Sasha wheezed.

Justin, still watching, pinched the bridge of his nose.

And then—

The presenter said the worst thing possible. "I mean, heck, he could probably even charm the President herself!"

Silence.

The other two hosts turned to her like she had just cursed out God. The bald guy dropped his pen. The male host’s jaw actually fell open.

The female host froze, realization dawning slow. "W-Wait—"

Too late.

The moment the female host dropped the Presidential Seduction bomb, the station hard-cut the feed. Not even a transition graphic. Just straight-up emergency eject.

Sasha blinked. "Damn. They pulled the plug on her like she was about to leak government secrets."

The TV now displayed a calm, professional interview set. The news anchor, clearly trying to salvage the chaos, had shifted gears to a serious discussion with some of Black Veil’s top executives.

First up – Mr. Clarkson—the old man, wise and composed, sat back in his chair, adjusting his glasses. "Let me tell you something about Justin Black."

Sasha snorted. "Oh shit. When old people start with ’Let me tell you something’, you listen."

Clarkson continued, voice steady, full of weight. "It’s easy to judge someone for their age. Easy to cling to their past mistakes. But you shouldn’t judge a man by where he’s been. You judge him by what he does."

He let that settle before adding, "And what Justin Black has done? Well—Black Veil’s never seen anything like it."

The next exclusive was of Mrs. Simmons who smiled when she was asked her view on the Black Veil situation, hands neatly folded. "I won’t lie. Everyone was skeptical at first. But they judged him too quickly."

The interviewer leaned forward, curiosity piqued. "And now?"

Mrs. Simmons chuckled. "Now? The industry ain’t ready for him."

The interviewer’s eyebrows shot up. "That impressive?"

She tilted her head slightly, a knowing glint in her eyes. "I’ve known Justin since he was a kid. And let me tell you, he was different even back then."

She leaned back, reminiscing for a moment. "While other kids were playing pretend, Justin was making actual business deals with grown men with his parents. While they were worried about homework, he was studying people—figuring them out, knowing what made them tick."

She smiled, a hint of pride in her voice. "So no, I’m not surprised he’s reached this level. If anything, I’m just watching to see how much further he goes. And I’m sure he’s going to exceed all out expectations."

The interviewer, caught off guard, let out a low whistle. "Damn."

Mrs. Simmons smirked. "Exactly. Now, our top employees had their doubts. But after working under him, guess what they’re saying?"

She let the suspense hang.

The interviewer gave in. "What?"

"They’re saying it’s an honor to work under him."

Sasha smirked. "They went from ’Who’s this punk?’ to ’Sir, yes sir.’"

The interviewer, clearly looking for a juicy angle, leaned in. "But would you say their view only changed after he paid the debt and made Chloe Martinez the CEO?"

His voice dripped with conspiracy theory energy. "According to reports, she was the uncrowned queen of Black Veil even before. Perhaps even Justin Black himself listens to her like a... puppet boss?"

Sasha wheezed. "Boy, no way you just called my boss a puppet on national TV."

Mrs. Simmons didn’t even blink. Instead, she straight-up laughed.

Then, she turned to the interviewer, an amused tilt to her brow. "See, that’s why doing research is better than following rumors like a headless fly." The interviewer froze. The camera even stubbornly zoomed in slightly on his uncomfortable expression.

"Tell me," she continued smoothly. "Did you even see the employee survey before you asked that?"

The interviewer blinked. "U-Uh—"

She smiled, but it was the kind of smile that said, I am about to humble you. "Because if you did, you’d know the survey was anonymous. Conducted before the boss even met the new CEO."

The interviewer’s shoulders tensed. "Oh."

Mrs. Simmons, still sweet as honey, finished him off. "And yet, 98% of employees had positive thoughts about the new boss. The remaining 2%? Well, those were executives and absentees. This wasn’t the influence of the current CEO but Black Veil stuff trust and love for Mr. Black."

The interviewer visibly deflated.

Sasha clapped a hand over her mouth, laughing. "They caught this man in 4K."

Justin, watching silently, smirked and finally took a sip of his drink. "That’s what happens when you try to play checkers with people playing chess."

The interview continued, but Justin had heard enough.

Sasha, still grinning, nudged his shoulder. "So, puppet boss, how’s it feel knowing your employees ride for you now?"

Justin swirled his drink. "Feels like finesse."

She rolled her eyes.
