Unveil Her Secret Identities -
Chapter 436 Late Salutation_1
Chapter 436: 436 Late Salutation_1
Wen Linyu kept silent, his focus was entirely on Lu Qingyi who was busily working in her lowered posture. There was a distinctive charm about her when she concentrated in silence.
Why couldn’t she just spare a good look at him? Wen Linyu asked himself in his mind countless times.
Lu Qingyi was totally absorbed in her acupuncture work, with each needle precisely inserted at its position swiftly and adeptly.
Wen Linyu tightly clenched his fists, his downward gaze was fixed on Lu Qingyi, his eyes filled with warmth.
In reality, he did not wish for Lu Qingyi to heal his legs, but his words were spoken already, not to fulfill them might add to chances of her ignoring him later on.
At the same time, Wen Linyu was also worrying. If his legs were to heal, then indeed Lu Qingyi may not have any reason left to pay attention to him.
Wen Linyu was confused about his own emotions at that point, his heart was truly filled with distress.
"Xiaoyi..."
Wen Linyu mumbled under his breath. He felt the urge to reach out and pet Lu Qingyi’s head, yet he quickly held himself back.
He didn’t dare, fearing he would incur Lu Qingyi’s anger.
He truly adored her to the point that he was willing to give up everything for Lu Qingyi, absolutely everything.
If only she could spare a glance at him, or even share a smile with him, probably even that would fill him with immense joy.
Lu Qingyi’s expression was nothing short of serious; she didn’t even notice Wen Linyu’s soft whispering. Even if she did, she would have dismissed them just the same.
"Okay, I will remove the needles after fifteen minutes."
Lu Qingyi stood up after finishing her task. She washed her hands at the sink, her voice was cold and devoid of warmth.
Wen Linyu laughed bitterly as he watched her cold and aloof silhouette; his fists clenched tightly.
Maybe it really was impossible for him to ever win her heart.
"Xiaoyi, come sit and have some fruits."
Lu Qingyi remained standing as Wen Linyu gestured toward the spot beside him. He spoke softly and had already peeled some fruits specifically for Lu Qingyi.
"No need."
Lu Qingyi still stayed in her place, mobile phone in hand, her fingers darting over the keyboard at a fast pace, without glancing upwards once.
She felt fine standing as is.
Wen Linyu looked at the indifferent Lu Qingyi; he couldn’t quite discern the emotions within him, but he was definitely feeling agony.
She didn’t even want to acknowledge his existence anymore.
"For the coming week, I will come over to treat your legs. I hope you will stop indulging in whatever you’ve been up to. Wen Linyu, this is the last time. If you don’t want to stand up, I don’t mind if you end up sitting in this wheelchair forever."
A slowdown after finishing the acupuncture treatment, Lu Qingyi delivered her words stone-cold. It was a clear wakeup call for Wen Linyu.
This was the last time she was going to devote herself to healing Wen Linyu’s legs. There will not be a next time. Since he declared his wish to stand up, she would make sure he does precisely that. But if he tried to meddle midway, she wouldn’t hesitate to make him eternally wheelchair-bound.
Fixing Wen Linyu’s legs wasn’t a simple task, but if she were to ensure he remained in the wheelchair, it would be relatively easier, she could do it within minutes.
"You are always so uncompassionate."
Wen Linyu smiled. His smile was mixed with a trace of bitter sentiment.
Indeed, Lu Qingyi was effectively uncompassionate to the point where he didn’t even know how to soften her heart.
Lu Qingyi gave Wen Linyu a brief glance, didn’t utter a single word, and quickly walked away. There was nothing worthwhile to be said.
Watching Lu Qingyi’s silhouette vanish from his sight, Linyu gradually closed his eyes.
Perhaps Wen Wanyu was right, even without Xu Boyan in the picture, Lu Qingyi wouldn’t have liked him.
It was crystal clear in her attitude; she didn’t hold the slightest affection for him.
"Young Master, weather is getting cool, please go and change into a pair of trousers."
Wen Bo came forward, took a glance at Wen Linyu’s legs and sighed, suggesting him what to do next.
His trousers were cut and shortened. He would feel cold if the wind blew in.
Wen Linyu was truly devoted to his affections, the fact that he loved someone who didn’t reciprocate was indeed a sad affair.
There’s a saying which goes:
In love, when two people miss each other, it’s romance. When one person overthinks alone, it’s neediness.
"Young Master, let it go, it will pass."
Wen Bo patted Wen Linyu’s shoulder, his voice reflecting a touch of helplessness.
If he couldn’t get what he wanted, then it was time to let go. Time is the best healer, Wen Linyu would too one day to get over Lu Qingyi with the passage of time.
"Some people cannot get over their first love even until their death."
Wen Linyu scoffed, clearly not buying Wen Bo’s words. He barely pulled up the corners of his lips into a smile, a bitter irony reflected on his face.
Lu Qingyi was Wen Linyu’s first love, currently, he was deeply in love with her. It would be tricky and nearly impossible to forget her, maybe he would never forget her.
People often perceive one’s first relationship as the first love, but it’s not always true. The first love is in fact the first person one genuinely falls in love with.
Only when you fall in love with someone, you consider it your first love. The one you didn’t fall in love with doesn’t count, even if you’ve been in a relationship and later broke up, you merely consider them just another ex.
The first love, it’s something very very hard to forget. Some individuals couldn’t forget their first love even till their demise, they still found themselves reminiscing about their first love.
Therefore, forgetting a person is really hard unless you didn’t love them at all.
Wen Bo sighed lightly, slightly shaking his head, his heart filled with emotion. Indeed, forgetting the first love was tough, a fact very well known to him.
-------------
By the time Lu Qingyi returned to the apartment, Xu Boyan had already prepared the meals. The aromatic scent of the dishes wafted through the living room. This was exactly what a home felt like, which brought a smile to Lu Qingyi’s face.
She cherished this sense of home, the aroma of dishes in the living room, with loved ones waiting for her back at home, she always longed for this sense of belonging but never dared to wish for it.
"Qingyi, come have some food. Boyan had to step out for some work and might be a little late."
Lu Mohai poked his head out of the kitchen, smiling genuinely at Lu Qingyi. His face was a fine picture of happiness.
Cooking for his biological daughter, there was nothing more fulfilling for Lu Mohai.
Knowing he had a daughter was enough to fill Lu Mohai’s heart with immense happiness.
"Dad, you’ve worked hard."
Lu Qingyi slightly squirmed her lips, as she watched Lu Mohai busy in the kitchen, her heart experienced a moment of sorrow.
Lu Mohai was genuinely kind to her, always trying to make up for his lack of attention during her past years.
However, she had not been able to call Lu Mohai, "Dad". Suddenly, Lu Qingyi felt a wave of guilt washing over her.
"Dad?"
Lu Mohai’s hand which held the spatula froze in mid-air, he turned towards Lu Qingyi with wide eyes full of shock. His hands trembled a bit and his eyes radiated disbelief.
