Chapter 400: The 400 file contains Meaning_1
Lu Mohai merely smiled in silence. If Lu Qingyi’s character is truly similar to that of Ruan Qingyang, then things would indeed be difficult.
Even though their hearts may be soft at times, they can also be incredibly stubborn.
"Uncle Lu, you should take a look at the document."
Xu Boyan suggested after glancing at the papers on the desk.
The documents had nothing to do, in Boyan’s mind, with Lu Mohai’s daughter. He didn’t overthink it.
"Mm."
Lu Mohai didn’t say much before turning his attention to the papers on the desk.
Although he knew the documents were counterfeit, and the matter of virgin births was false, he was interested to peruse the research Ruan Qingyang had previously conducted.
After all these years, the past was gone. He retained nothing of Ruan Qingyang’s belongings while she was alive.
"Something’s not right."
Lu Mohai increasingly felt something off as he flipped further into the document. The first few pages matched Ruan Qingyang’s previous work, but the latter ones began to seem amiss.
He had an excellent memory, especially about things concerning Ruan Qingyang. He remembered every detail and decimal point, even in the scientific papers of hers he’d read.
"What’s wrong with it?"
Xu Boyan asked curiously.
"This part isn’t the experimental results or processes."
Lu Mohai pointed to a page, shaking his head with certainty.
Although it seemed like the stages and results of an experiment, it actually wasn’t.
Xu Boyan moved closer to look. He frowned slightly, not understanding.
At first glance, the data indeed seemed to be the process and results of an experiment. Why did Lu Mohai say otherwise?
"It’s not in Qingyang’s style."
Lu Mohai shook his head, asserting that the style of the record didn’t resemble Ruan Qingyang’s at all. However, the handwriting was indeed hers.
The words were handwritten.
Ruan Qingyang always had a habit of handwriting her notes, rarely using printed fonts.
Her handwriting was exquisite.
Xu Boyan: "..."
He remembered even that?
Lu Mohai must have loved Ruan Qingyang profoundly to remember such minute details. If Ruan Qingyang were still around and if she was fond of Lu Mohai, she must have felt blessed.
"Qingyang’s style of note-taking isn’t like this, yet these are certainly her handwriting. She might have intended to express something."
Lu Mohai, staring at the writing, murmured.
What did she intend to express?
Did Ruan Qingyang have a specific intention?
"Uncle Lu, can you decipher it?"
Xu Boyan furrowed his eyebrows, everything appeared as a simple data presentation.
Ruan Qingyang must have been extraordinarily intelligent, as none of this was apparent.
If it weren’t for Lu Mohai’s familiarity with Ruan Qingyang, probably no one could envision the meaning behind these figures.
Lu Mohai shook his head.
"Let me study it."
Lu Mohai, sighing lightly, suggested.
What was Ruan Qingyang trying to convey through these documents?
Xu Boyan: "Alright."
---
"Xu Boyan, what could this possibly mean?"
Lu Qingyi furrowed her brows as she looked at the picture Xu Boyan had sent her.
Yao Meishu.
Perhaps Yao Meishu knew something.
Lu Qingyi suddenly remembered Yao Meishu.
"Xu Boyan, I need to go back to Jin City for a while."
Lu Qingyi put down her phone and said in a calm voice.
Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang. It was a call from Li Xiyi.
Lu Qingyi raised her eyebrows slightly and answered the call. It was a strange coincidence to receive a call from Li Xiyi.
"Qingyi, the gala is tomorrow night. Where are you now? Have you been practicing?"
There was urgency in Li Xianya’s voice from the other end. She was genuinely anxious.
The gala was quickly approaching, while Lu Qingyi had seemingly disappeared. Just days ago she was going to school, now there was no sign of her anywhere.
Li Xianya feared Lu Qingyi might have forgotten, considering her habitually indifferent attitude towards such matters.
"Gala?"
Lu Qingyi gently furrowed her brows, appearing puzzled.
She nearly forgot about the gala. She didn’t remember such an event at all.
"Yes, Qingyi, did you forget? You said you would play the piano, have you practiced?"
Li Xianya on the other end couldn’t hide her disappointment. She had anticipated this outcome. It seemed Lu Qingyi genuinely forgot.
She was having a tough time.
"Oh, no."
Lu Qingyi’s response was flat.
Practice?
Out of the question. She didn’t practice something like that.
Li Xianya: "..."
Alright, given how busy Lu Qingyi was, it was conceivable she wouldn’t concern herself with such trivial matters. However, will things go smoothly at the gala if Lu Qingyi doesn’t practice?
Li Xianya had never seen Lu Qingyi playing the piano and had no idea what to expect.
She wasn’t worried that Lu Qingyi would play poorly, but she feared ridicule if she did.
"I’ll be there tomorrow."
With those words, Lu Qingyi ended the call.
Li Xianya, staring at her disconnected phone, felt distressed.
Well, sigh.
"After the gala, I should go to Jin City. I did promise them I would play the piano."
Lu Qingyi shrugged slightly, waving her phone as she spoke.
Xu Boyan: "What will you play?"
"The newly released piano piece."
Lu Qingyi answered without hesitation.
She would protect her own at all costs.
"I’m jealous, little girl."
Xu Boyan pulled Lu Qingyi into his arms, resting his head on her shoulder and began to pout.
"I only belong to you, and everything I have is yours."
Lu Qingyi gave a bashful smile, placing her hand gently on Xu Boyan’s head. Her voice was exceptionally soft.
"Just over a month left."
Xu Boyan continued.
In just over a month, Lu Qingyi would turn twenty. They could then get their marriage license, and the little girl could definitively belong to him.
"Time flies, we’ve known each other for quite a while. Xu Boyan, having met you feels like a blessing. You’re the dawn after a long night."
Lu Qingyi’s words were uncharacteristically tender. She was entirely sincere. Whenever she saw Xu Boyan, she felt emotional.
"Little girl, with all the sweet nothings you’re murmuring, is your intention to seduce me?"
Xu Boyan chuckled and tousled Lu Qingyi’s hair.
"I didn’t need to, right? Before I knew it, you were in my grasp."
Lu Qingyi covered her mouth, giggling. She remembered clearly that Xu Boyan was the one who confessed his feelings to her.
In fact, Tang Yaxin lent a hand, too.
