Chapter 95: Chapter 83: Perfection (Part 1)
Knock, knock, knock.
After Lin Yuan refined three consecutive furnaces of pills, the door of the quiet room was knocked on.
"Senior brother, dinner is ready. Do you need it brought in?" Zhu Lingshan’s voice, as sweet as a yellow warbler, came from outside the door, sounding somewhat apprehensive.
If Lin Yuan continued practicing cultivation, she wouldn’t dare to interrupt. But she had prepared for the dinner banquet tonight for a long time, fearing Lin Yuan might not have time.
"Junior sister, please wait a moment, I will be right out."
"Then I’ll wait for you in the dining room." Hearing this, Zhu Lingshan’s face showed a tiny smile.
Their master had now agreed to their relationship. Having bought a house tonight as well was a double blessing. Having dinner with Lin Yuan would surely be one of the most beautiful memories of her future.
Turning toward the dining room, Zhu Lingshan’s heart was filled with anticipation, and her steps couldn’t help but become a bit lighter.
Lin Yuan swallowed all the pills, glanced at the vine leaves a couple of times, and then exited from the Nine Chapters space.
He opened the door and headed toward the dining room.
Zhu Lingshan and Xiaoyun, her maid, were already waiting for him at the entrance.
"Junior sister Zhu, how come you’re so beautiful today." Lin Yuan couldn’t help but be stunned when he saw Zhu Lingshan standing at the door.
Zhu Lingshan’s almond-shaped eyes held a spring-like charm, clear and bright, her curled lashes quivering slightly, shining with liveliness, as she stood there with a face full of spring.
She was dressed in a silk purple robe adorned with a few strands of pink, resembling the dawn’s first light or a violet haze reflected in water.
The autumn breeze blew gently, her graceful figure and flowing sleeves dancing in the wind, akin to peach blossoms blooming in spring, so enchanting it captivated one’s heart.
A feast for the eyes!
Lin Yuan stood stupefied for a moment.
"Senior brother, what are you daydreaming about?" Zhu Lingshan’s lips curled into a slight smile as she chuckled softly.
She had dressed up on purpose to commemorate this beautiful day. Seeing Lin Yuan so captivated, she felt a mix of shyness and a bit of pride.
As long as senior brother liked it, she was willing to dress up like this every day.
"Look, the young master is bewitched by the young lady." Xiaoyun covered her mouth and giggled.
"Junior sister, your outfit is indeed too beautiful," Lin Yuan chuckled wryly, helplessly saying, "It’s perfectly normal for me to be mesmerized by you."
The autumn weather was gradually cooling down, a light breeze blowing through and bringing with it a fragrant scent.
Lin Yuan felt the Qi-Blood surging within his body, as if there’s an evil fire rising from his lower belly to his head.
Suppress it! Suppress it!
He stepped into the dining room.
Zhu Lingshan came over with a smile.
For a moment, the unique fragrance of a woman filled his nostrils, stirring the evil fire inside Lin Yuan even more, like oil blazing on a fire, almost uncontrollable.
Having lived two lifetimes, he hadn’t yet tasted the pleasures of flesh.
Now with such a lovely lady by his side, Lin Yuan felt his blood boiling.
"Almost there," Lin Yuan kept suppressing, trying his best to endure.
Zhu Lingshan accompanied Lin Yuan to sit down.
The table was filled with lavish dishes, including steamed fish, roasted goose, braised chicken, and a nourishing jade ginseng soup.
"Junior sister, you’ve put a lot of heart into this." Lin Yuan noted the exquisite dishes, which couldn’t have been done without the utmost care of the nearby lady.
"Senior brother, please have dinner." Zhu Lingshan sweetly smiled and said softly.
Xiaoyun came forward and poured drinks for the two of them.
As Lin Yuan was about to pick up the wine glass, he noticed Xiaoyun standing by the side.
"Xiaoyun, join us." Lin Yuan gently instructed.
After all, he was a modern man, and in his heart, there was no division between high and low status, not used to others serving, especially since Zhu Lingshan and Xiaoyun were like sisters.
"Master, how could this be appropriate?" Xiaoyun’s face tightened, not daring to sit down.
Though she had a good relationship with Zhu Lingshan, she understood the difference in status and the principle that master and servant should not dine together.
"Sit down, we don’t stand on ceremony here," Lin Yuan said softly.
Zhu Lingshan also smiled, indicating Xiaoyun to join the meal.
"Master, young lady, this fish is extraordinarily delicious," Xiaoyun said with a flushed face after drinking some wine, looking very adorable.
"Haha." Lin Yuan and Zhu Lingshan both chuckled at Xiaoyun’s appearance.
Thus, the three of them enjoyed a harmonious and satisfying meal.
That night, in the rear courtyard guest room.
Simple paper cuttings of the word "Happiness" were posted on the windows and the door.
Inside the room, two red candles burned steadily, the golden flames dancing as if enthusiastic elves, dispelling the rising autumn chill with warm firelight.
The flickering candlelight illuminated the two people seated at the table.
By this time, both Lin Yuan and Zhu Lingshan had changed into red robes.
Xiaoyun held the wine cup and once again filled theirs.
"Master, young lady, please drink the wedding cup!" Xiaoyun’s face flushed, but her eyes were full of well-wishes.
Upon hearing this, the two of them each took a cup.
The wine was fragrant, and the red candles warm.
Zhu Lingshan’s eyes were bright with admiration.
Lin Yuan’s heart mirrored the joy.
They intertwined their hands and slowly brought them to their lips.
As the sweet wine entered their mouths, they exchanged a glance and smiled.
Xiaoyun held the wine cup and quietly exited the room.
When the door was fully closed, Lin Yuan could no longer suppress the Qi-Blood boiling inside him.
"Junior sister, it’s time to rest."
Looking at the beautiful red lips and soft, luscious figure before him, he pounced like a starving wolf.
"Ah." Zhu Lingshan uttered a soft cry, although mentally prepared, she couldn’t help but feel a rush of tension at the surge of masculine energy before her.
"Senior brother, don’t." Zhu Lingshan pressed her palms against Lin Yuan’s chest, lowering her head.
"Why?" Lin Yuan frowned upon hearing this.
Now that the sword was drawn, was he to forcibly sheath it back?
"The candles." Zhu Lingshan’s face was full of blush, like a ripe peach, filled with shyness: "The candles are still burning."
This pause caused Lin Yuan’s slightly suppressed Qi-Blood to surge violently.
Whoosh!
With a swift movement, the flames were suddenly extinguished, plunging the room into darkness.
Soon, a rustling sound emerged.
A soft, enrapturing moan came from the bedding!
The bed was already awash with a red tide.
Rhythms of squeaking sounds resonated.
Sometimes slow and gentle, sometimes swift and urgent, like butterflies fluttering in the spring breeze, or a meandering stream flowing through the mountains, rising and falling.
The autumn chill gradually rose, yet it could not suppress the burgeoning spring warmth within the room.
The next morning.
Zhu Lingshan pulled her long hair up, simply tying it with a wooden hairpin. Even in a plain robe, it couldn’t conceal her innate charm.
After arranging Lin Yuan’s clothes, she gazed at the upright man, her eyes full of affection.
"Senior brother, come back soon," Zhu Lingshan said softly.
"I will." Lin Yuan nodded.
He pulled her close and kissed her forehead before finally leaving the house.
As he stepped out of the yard, images of the previous night lingered in Lin Yuan’s mind.
"I imagined junior sister Zhu was imposing, but didn’t expect her to be so fair?" Lin Yuan reminisced over Zhu Lingshan’s slender, yet ample presence, unable to resist marveling.
*********
Huai River Pier, Lotus Gang territory.
Lin Yuan, also wearing a gray robe, moved around with Wu Qingyang and Han Zhong.
When he left the house, Lin Yuan was in high spirits.
But after a round of inspection, Lin Yuan felt a heavy weight on his heart.
Squish.
Turning the corner, stepping into a puddle of foul water, Lin Yuan frowned.
But his attention was drawn to the pier then.
"Brother Wu San, I clearly weighed it to be fifty-three pounds on my boat, so how did it become thirty-two pounds?" A dark-skinned, impoverished middle-aged man asked plaintively, holding a scale.
He understood that every place had problems with scales as a norm for cheating.
But this scale was too much, nearly halved, and he felt unwilling to accept it.
"Are you trying to trick me? Everyone selling fish uses my scale, how can it be wrong?" The man called Brother Wu San wore a fierce expression, speaking menacingly: "Do you want to sell or not? If not, I’ll toss all of it into Huai River. The fish in Huai River belong to our Lotus Gang!"
"But my scale clearly..." The middle-aged man insisted, unwilling to give in.
"Looking for trouble?" Wu San grabbed the middle-aged man’s collar and his eyes glared like copper bells.
The two men behind Wu San rolled up their sleeves, ready to jump in.
"You mean to say that all the scales at the pier are based on yours?" Lin Yuan approached, questioning.
Behind him, Wu Qingyang and Han Zhong followed, their eyes full of furious energy.
"Yes, yes." Wu San, seeing their imposing presence, didn’t dare to act rashly. He released the middle-aged man, respectfully saying, "What brings a lord to such a filthy place? I’ll arrange someone to clean up immediately."
Though Lin Yuan appeared calm, Wu San recognized the black robes of Wu Qingyang and Han Zhong, who were often mentioned by the Hall Master, and weren’t to be provoked.
"Bring the scale." Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow, disregarding his words and spoke in a deep voice.
Wu San handed it over.
Bang!
Taking it, Lin Yuan snapped the scale in half with a single motion.
"This." Wu San’s face turned sullen, but he dared not act.
"How many pounds of fish do you have?" Lin Yuan scoured Wu San and turned to face the middle-aged man.
"Fifty-three pounds, sir," the man replied, trembling, mustering up his courage.
"Where’s the scale?" Lin Yuan asked indifferently.
"Here, your excellency," the man offered in his shaking hand.
"Give it to him." Lin Yuan gestured and turned to Wu San, saying, "From now on, use this scale to weigh fish!"
"Sir." Wu San’s eyes were full of anger, but remembering the Hall Master’s stern instructions, he suppressed it and said, "Yes, I understand, sir."
"Fifty-three pounds, settled." Wu San counted the Copper Coins, his eyes fixed on the man as he reluctantly handed them over.
The man, pressured by Wu San’s menace, hesitated to accept.
"Wait." Lin Yuan intervened, "It’s not settled yet."
"Sir, what do you mean?" Wu San and the man turned to him.
"You haven’t paid for the scale," Lin Yuan stated plainly.
Wu San’s face flushed, veins bulging on his neck, his grinding teeth nearly breaking his jaw, holding a fury within his chest.
"Yes, yes, I’ll pay, I’ll pay." Although he felt aggrieved, Wu San did not dare act against Lin Yuan’s authority.
Lin Yuan sneered, watching Wu San count out the payment for the scale.
There may be many injustices he could not intervene in, but those within his reach were not to be overlooked.
The hunched back of the fishing man, burdened with the weight of life, was consumed by the vampires of society.
Lin Yuan said sternly, "From today on, use this scale for weighing fish."
"Go back and tell your Hall Master that this is what I, Lin Yuan, have decreed!"
