Chapter 171: Chapter 31 Shock

As the giant red creature scratched its head, Hou Sixian quietly swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

In his nearly thirty years of martial arts practice, he had never seen such a terrifying scene.

Hou Sixian’s pupils were completely filled with the massive crimson.

The punch from that monster just now, in his eyes, he couldn’t comprehend the path of the opponent’s energy flow, but the violent gust it carried instilled a sense of powerlessness from afar.

Like a high-speed bullet shattering a watermelon, grinding all obstacles into pulp, it was too bloody, too violent.

Yang Diancang’s headless body continued to twitch in the snow.

Hou Sixian couldn’t help but lower his head slightly; bits of whitish skin flakes scattered on his shoes, staining the pitch-black surface with a touch of crimson and pale white.

"Where did this ghastly thing come from?" Hou Sixian’s heart pounded wildly, and a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead, "And it’s at least at the Realm of Apertures?"

The speed was like lightning flashing through the eyes, arriving in an instant. Yang Diancang’s speed was actually not much slower, but in front of the monster, he appeared like a child learning to walk, with no room to maneuver.

This was a crushing defeat, pure and simple.

Hou Sixian felt his body stiffen, despite his mind gradually waking from the shock. Yet, his fear-wrapped body seemed not to respond to the mind’s command.

Raising his head again, he saw a hint of confusion in the eyes of the enormous figure: "What is it puzzled about?"

Just as Hou Sixian looked up, he saw the figure turning its head, its scarlet gaze piercing him like two beams.

Unconsciously, he felt a chill emanating from his heart.

Hou Sixian’s body tensed up, the scarlet gaze sending shivers down his spine.

"Earlier, I thought this person was dressed quite ordinarily, just a common Lin family energy congregator." Hou Sixian inwardly lamented, "I didn’t expect there was a terrifying monster hidden within, what now?"

As Hou Sixian’s thoughts shifted, the hulking figure seemed no longer puzzled, directing its gaze straight at Hou Sixian before stepping towards him.

Seeing the figure approaching, the energy within Hou Sixian’s body suddenly surged.

Despite being nearly paralyzed with fear by its punch, years of tempered mind were not that fragile.

With a tinge of vigilance, Hou Sixian quietly crouched, ready to escape at any moment.

"Has he let down his guard?"

Hou Sixian instantly realized this might be an excellent opportunity for escape.

Upon confirmation, he noticed the opponent’s violent energy gradually calming, as if becoming less vigilant.

"If I don’t escape now, then when?" Hou Sixian’s eyes focused, and the energy in his body erupted.

The gap in strength was too vast, facing such a terrifying being left him without a hint of resistance. He could only seize every opportunity to escape.

Hou Sixian’s spirits had sunk to the bottom. The Pei family had produced a second-tier elixir, attracting not only the Hong family and West River Alliance’s covetous eyes but also another terrifying force in the shadows. This must be reported to the ancestors; the Pei family could be wiped out by this person at any moment.

Swish!

With two flickers, he turned into a black dot.

Lin Yuan was momentarily stunned, watching Hou Sixian flee like a scalded cat into the distance.

"Wait!"

A deep voice rumbled from the mountain-like figure.

But Hou Sixian didn’t care to hear the opponent’s words.

He was not going to give up a hard-earned chance to flee and stay to die.

"Art, Swallow Cutting Waves."

Hou Sixian whispered sternly, energy erupted from the Dantian, furiously channeling into his legs.

Whiz!

In an instant, there seemed to be an extra force under his feet, propelling him at speed akin to a meteor streaking across the sky.

The fallen leaves on the ground, touched lightly by his toes, were drawn upwards as if by an invisible force, swirling into a whirlwind-like path.

"Using the strongest escape technique of my life, I can escape fifty meters in an instant, even Yang Diancang couldn’t keep up; I suppose the monster should be the same," Hou Sixian gritted his teeth, his feet moving in rapid succession, leaving a trail of afterimages.

After all, the larger the size and mass, the greater the inertia, and the slower to start.

The huge figure watched Hou Sixian running headlong away, ignoring his call, and couldn’t help but frown.

Three breaths later.

"It seems... he hasn’t caught up!" Hou Sixian secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "Though his speed in technique is fast, his massive size hampers his movement speed. In three to five more breaths, I’ll completely shake him off!"

Regaining composure, Hou Sixian continued to sustain his energy burst; he could maintain this consumption for a while longer.

But in the next moment, all the hair on Hou Sixian’s body stood on end.

A strong hand quietly rested on his shoulder.

The roaring wind from his rapid escape suddenly stilled. His body was firmly grasped by the large hand, like being picked up by the scruff of the neck.

"I told you to wait. Why run?"

The deep voice resonated in his ear.

"You?"

Cold sweat dripped from Hou Sixian’s forehead.

The furnace-like energy continued to invade his own, rendering him almost breathless.

This helpless feeling was reminiscent of before he entered the academy when he wandered with his sister, fighting for a mouthful of bread at the bottom of Yanghua.

Recalling the earlier scene of Yang Diancang being killed, Hou Sixian gave a bitter smile and helplessly surrendered: "Never mind. Man proposes, heaven disposes."

"Who might you be?" Hou Sixian pressed down his trepidation, forcing himself to ask.

As Hou Sixian’s heart beat uneasily, he saw the figure quietly withdrawing from its combat-ready state.

"Elder Hou." Lin Yuan reverted to his original appearance, revealing his well-built upper body, "I am Lin Yuan."

"Calling me Elder? You know me?"

Hou Sixian stared blankly at the young man in front of him, seemingly much younger than himself.

"Lin Yuan?" Hou Sixian repeatedly probed the name in his mind, which didn’t ring many bells.

Wasn’t that the Pill Master often mentioned by the Third Elder?

Memory dawned, and Hou Sixian gradually connected the dots. He seemed to be quite close with his brother-in-law Xie Wanxin?

"Pill Master Lin?" Hou Sixian blurted out.

"Heh." Lin Yuan chuckled softly, "It’s rare for Elder Hou to remember me. To speak truly, I have quite a connection with you, Elder Hou."

"You?"

When confirmed by Lin Yuan, Hou Sixian’s eyes widened in shock, his mind almost going blank with Lin Yuan’s identity, "Weren’t you just a chores disciple in the academy half a year ago, why? How?"

"I have a bit of talent in martial arts," Lin Yuan laughed it off, grinning, "I’ve advanced slightly faster than ordinary people and can now barely contend against martial artists in the later stages of energy consolidation."

He didn’t boast of killing at the peak of energy consolidation with one punch, merely claiming he could barely contend. He wanted no rumors of Lin Yuan’s arrogance, considering himself above others, floating around.

"..."

Hou Sixian twitched slightly at the corner of his eyes, silently cursing.

Pulverizing a near-peak ninth-rank energy consolidator, you call this just barely able to contend.

"Your ’barely’ is truly used barely," Hou Sixian sarcastically ranted internally.

"Brother, with your talent, you truly astound me," Hou Sixian exaggeratedly exclaimed with a wry smile, "Good thing you intervened, otherwise that old thief would have escaped."

Hou Sixian shook his head, dropping the issue. Remembering Yang Diancang’s purpose here, a sudden thought crossed his mind, "Brother Lin, there’s urgently important news. Come with me, we’ll talk on the way."
