Chapter 32: Let The Clown Cook
Chapter 32: Let The Clown Cook
The table was soon filled with dishes that looked like they belonged in a royal banquet, not in front of these degenerates.
Glazed duck breast carved to perfection, its skin crackling beneath a golden honey-orange glaze.
A steaming plate of octopus tentacles grilled in wine, curled like elegant serpents resting atop seaweed salad.
Butter-poached lobster tails lay split open beside saffron-dusted risotto, their aroma rich with herbs and melted butter.
Salmon grilled with a miso glaze, resting over a bed of crushed avocado and sesame seeds.
And then came the steak—thick, juicy, medium-rare, with a glistening sear and a side of truffle mash so aromatic even the air felt more expensive.
The waiters brought over three bottles of red wine, poured into long-stemmed glasses like ruby rivers.
The table went quiet.
Even the girls’ laughter stopped as the aroma hit them.
Trevor cleared his throat. He leaned back smugly as the plates were served, waving his hand toward Ethan like a king addressing a servant.
"Here ya go, Ethan," he said mockingly. I’m sure you’ve never seen food like this, let alone tasted it.Hope you don’t faint at the sight of real food. Eat what you want, bro. Everything’s on me."
Laughter broke out across the table again, loud and biting.
Another guy leaned in, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Careful he doesn’t faint. That lobster’s probably worth his family’s yearly income ."
"Somebody record him," a girl said, already pulling out her phone. "We’re watching a poor man’s first luxury meal."
They expected Ethan to lower his head. Maybe fake a smile. Maybe even stay quiet out of embarrassment.
But Ethan?
He just looked at Trevor... and smiled softly.
"Thank you, Trevor. Truly. I’ll never forget your kindness."
His fork rose and dipped smoothly into the steak like he’d done it a thousand times before.
Let’s see how deep your wallet runs, Mr. Budget Villain. You’ll pay through your bloated nose, and you won’t stop, because your ego won’t let you. Let’s see how long you dance
He cut a piece of steak, popped it into his mouth, and nodded to himself.
"Hmm," Ethan said, savoring the bite. "It’s so good, Thank you Trevor for your generousity."
Trevor laughed loudly.
As the group dug in, Trevor shifted gears. Now he turned to Sasha, pouring wine into her glass with a grin far too familiar.
"Try this," he said smoothly. "It’s aged. Like our memories."
He pushed a plate of glazed duck toward her, fingers brushing hers—not by accident.
Sasha’s face tightened.
She quickly pulled her hand back.
Nate’s face darkened.
Trevor turned toward him. "Hey, Nate. You’re doing that café thing, right?"
Nate nodded cautiously. "Yeah. Not just me—Sasha and I. We’re building it together."
Trevor smirked. "Ah. So you’ll need investors, right?"
Nate’s eyes narrowed.
Trevor leaned in, tapping the table like a slow metronome. "In this part of town, a dream’s not enough. You need... influence."
He glanced sideways at Sasha again.
"And sometimes... favors."
His hand slithered toward Sasha’s again—more aggressive this time.
She pulled back like his touch burned.
Nate slammed his palm on the table. "Don’t touch her, Trevor!"
Trevor smiled lazily, lips curling into something venomous. "Relax, bro. I’m just saying..."
Then, with pure malice in his eyes, he turned to the entire table, pointing at the other couples.
"Look at them. Every girl here’s done it at least once. Sold her body to move up in life. That’s how the world works, money is everything. So, why cant she?"
Sasha went pale.
Nate’s face burned with fury.
And the others?
They didn’t deny it.
Chloe looked away, adjusting her lipstick. Riley gave a tired shrug. The boys just chuckled.
The trap had been set.
Nate and Sasha had walked into it blind.
All the old messages. The "friendly lunch." It was all fake.
Trevor had brought them here for this.
To humiliate.
To control.
To dominate.
Just as tension thickened like smoke, Ethan set down his fork with a soft clink.
He raised his hand.
"Waiter," he called, casually.
The server rushed over.
"Yes, sir?"
Ethan smiled brightly and patted Trevor’s shoulder.
"My generous friend here said he’s treating us all. So bring us more. I’m still celebrating."
The server blinked. "Any specific dishes?"
"Yeah. Bring the caviar. Sea urchin. King crab. Two of each and bring the most expensive dish and wine.Let’s really make this memorable."
Trevor’s smile twitched. He forced a laugh.
"Y-You’re serious?"
The fake confidence in his voice didn’t hide the sudden tremor in his hand.
Ethan tilted his head. "You offered, didn’t you?"
He glanced at the bottles of wine already opened. The octopus. The steak, lobster, and now Ethan had asked for more?
The total was racking up fast in his head. He tried to calculate, a twitch formed under his eye.He wiped his forehead.
"Haha... yeah, yeah. Bring it all in," he said louder, trying to reclaim his dominance. "What’s a little extra, right?"
But his laugh came out too sharp. Too forced.
Riley whispered, "Wait... do you even have enough for this?"
Trevor shot her a look that could kill. "Shut up."
Then Ethan he stood, raised his wine glass high, and with a confident grin, declared:
"To Trevor, the most generous bastard I’ve ever met. A king among clowns. Cheers!"
He clinked glasses with an imaginary friend, sipped the wine...
...and smiled like a devil in designer clothes.
