Chapter 448 - 410 Meeting Part 1
Chapter 448: Chapter 410 Meeting Part 1
The exact location of the Tower of Wisdom is unknown to anyone in the world.
However, many people are aware that the headquarters of this one-of-a-kind power is definitely not in any known coordinates of the outside world. It’s more likely to exist in an alternate dimension.
Lin Fei directly submitted a meeting request to the external liaison of the Tower of Wisdom with the identity of a Golden Council member.
He immediately received a high level of attention from the other party.
After all, the renown of the Gold was inconspicuous to other powerhouses in the Inner World, but it was quite famous among the mages. Being able to wrest control of the newly appeared Elisa’s Gate from the Holy See and the Eastern Orthodox Cult, such strength naturally could not belong to a small force. Even without the Gold identity, Lin Fei’s A-level strength could not be underestimated by the Tower of Wisdom.
Any A-level powerhouse belonged to the top tier of existence capable of destroying cities and devastate landscapes.
Tower of Wisdom - Truth Space-Time
The sky was pitch-black, devoid of a single hint of light, no stars, no moonlight, just darkness.
The ground was covered with brown spikes curving upward, like a collection of scythes piercing the sky, these colossal spikes made of rock. Each was tens of meters tall.
Between the spikes were paths that could be traversed.
Not a single green plant adorned these paths, just the grey-brown stone surface of the ground.
Lin Fei, accompanied by a line of black-robed mages, walked slowly along the path amidst the spikes, occasionally surveying the surroundings.
A small white orb slowly followed above their party, floating along as a source of illumination.
"Your Excellency, this place is the Truth Space-Time of our Tower of Wisdom," said an old mage in black robes with golden edges, smiling beside Lin Fei.
"I had heard about it, but I never imagined it to be such a desolate scene... " Lin Fei remarked with a sigh.
The old mage nodded. "Indeed, this space-time dimension was only discovered not long ago and we are still in the process of terraforming it, so the environment is quite harsh. Fortunately, there is no danger, no living creatures; it’s relatively safe and peaceful."
Lin Fei nodded slowly.
He could feel that there were indeed no traces of any living creatures here. It’s as if it was the Earth after the apocalypse, with hard rock everywhere.
The group walked among the spikes as if traveling through the ribs of some creature, giving off an eerie ambience.
Before long, four huge black mountains gradually emerged in the far sky.
The four mountains floated silently directly in front of the team. Compared to the grand spikes, they seemed paltry in scale and were not on the same level.
The four black mountains, like floating castles, were oppressive in nature and glowed faintly with sporadic white fluorescence amid the darkness.
This scene reminded Lin Fei of the City in the Sky from an animation he knew.
However, compared to the City in the Sky, those four enormous flying castles in the distant sky looked more like giant spaceships from a science fiction movie.
A faint humming noise reached Lin Fei’s ears.
He remembered this sound.
It was identical to the noise made by the Teleportation Formation when he was transported to the Goddess Temple District in the Main City of the Pantheon.
"This must be the rumored Sky City of the Tower of Wisdom, right?" Lin Fei stopped in his tracks, looking up at the distant sight.
The black-robed old mage beside him nodded: "Indeed, that is the headquarters of our Tower of Wisdom in the outside world."
Lin Fei stared at the distant Sky City for a while, his mind filled with awe at the mages’ colossal strength. This level of power, without an extremely precise design structure, and the crystallization of countless wisdom and strength, is impossible to create.
He could sense that these four Sky Cities carried an immense sense of history. It seemed as though they had existed for many, many years.
Moreover, there were no traces of electrical energy. Clearly, these four Sky Cities were not powered by electricity. This, in an era when information revolved around electric core energy, was truly miraculous!!
After advancing a little further.
Three shadows slowly appeared on the road ahead. They seemed to have been waiting in the middle of the path for some time.
As the distance closed, the shadows gradually became clear, revealing three mages in black robes.
All three looked withered and extremely old, each holding a staff in hand. The one standing at the front had eyes that were a swirling silver galaxy, mysterious and magnificent to behold.
Lin Fei found himself facing the elder directly and immediately felt as if his gaze contained some mysterious power, as if it wanted to peer into him the moment their eyes met.
"Please forgive me, esteemed council member," the elder bowed slightly in apology before they approached. "My eyes have been permanently shaped by the Eye of Truth. They automatically initiate a probing mechanism upon viewing any living creature. It’s a spell that cannot be turned off."
"No worries," Lin Fei said with a smile. "However, I’m quite interested in the arcane Magic Constancy spells. I wonder if your tower could bestow such a spell upon someone of my level?"
"I’m afraid that won’t be possible," the elder spoke calmly, "A Magic Constancy spell doesn’t have much effect on someone of your caliber. Any type of strength would be repelled by your body. You are unlike us; we mages leverage wisdom to manipulate laws, hence our essences are weak. You, on the other hand, already represent a part of the law; your essence is strong. This is a fundamental difference."
"I see."
"Now, if you would follow me. Because the distance we’ve just covered is a wilderness area of this demi-plane where array power cannot be used. However, here in the glowing magic domain of the Sky City, we can directly employ the Teleportation Array," the elder said.
He turned and led Lin Fei and his companions a few steps to the side, coming up to the base of a spike.
Then, the elder uttered a cryptic incantation in a low voice. Immediately, a circular hole appeared automatically on the surface of the spike with a bit of light projecting from within.
It was hollow inside.
The interior was brightly lit, and a complex circular array appeared in Lin Fei’s view on the ground.
The Array almost occupied all the ground space inside the cave. Moreover, it was slowly emanating complex halos of seven colors. Above the Formation Patterns, like vapor, was a mass of light specks, which, like fireflies, gently rose from the Array, ascended, and then vanished into thin air.
It gave the illusion that the Array was evaporating these light specks.
The old man was the first to step into the Array.
"This is the Teleportation Formation leading to the empty city; please, step inside," he whispered.
"Alright," Lin Fei stepped forward onto the Array. The others remained behind; the black-robed Mages did not follow him forward.
Only the old Mage with the cane and Lin Fei stood on the Array.
Spiked crystals adorned the walls within the Array, each socketed with oval-shaped white gems for illumination that cast a soft white light.
Between the oval gems and the Array, intricate Magic Patterns connected like vines.
As the old Mage chanted softly,
Lin Fei felt a gentle force slowly wrapping around him.
Suddenly, an abundance of Brilliant Light rose around him. The light soared up from beneath his feet, gradually engulfing all his sight.
And then there was nothing but white.
In the blink of an eye, the Brilliant Light dissipated.
In front of Lin Fei now stood a massive black iron gate. Looking behind, there were endless floating stairs suspended in the air, meandering downwards—the only path connecting the sky city with the ground below.
The gates, towering several stories high, were covered in ancient and profound Runes and patterns. On the sides stood two bat-like black gargoyle statues. The gargoyles’ crimson eyes were firmly fixed on Lin Fei and the old man, creating a tense sensation as if they might take flight and attack at any moment.
"Open the gate!" commanded the elder with a stamp of his staff.
Instantly, the great door began to open slowly with a thunderous rumble, accompanied by the clanking sounds of countless gears and chains.
Within the gate, a group of Mages with staves stepped out briskly. Leading them was an old man in a white robe.
This old man leaned on a wooden staff that towered above his head, with a huge spherical gem at the top, the size of a human head. The gem floated up and down, continuously emitting a faint white light.
The old man himself wore a white robe trimmed with gold, looking somewhat comical with his slightly short stature. With sparse white hair on his head, he would pass for an ordinary bald old man on the street without his present attire.
"I, Guide Aises, welcome the esteemed arrival of Golden Councilor Yan Fei," declared the bald old man loudly, his voice resonant and strong despite its airy quality.
However, Lin Fei noticed a faint flow of Energy at the man’s chin, a clear sign of some amplification Spell used to increase the volume of his voice.
The man appeared to be of the same level as himself.
Lin Fei, not wanting to appear disrespectful, bowed slightly in a gesture of respect.
"Pleased to meet you, Lord Aises. I have long heard of the Tower of Wisdom’s countless years of heritage, housing numerous tomes and ancient lore. I am here in search of information," he stated his purpose directly.
Although the relations between Golden Council and the Tower of Wisdom weren’t exactly friendly, they weren’t overtly hostile either.
After all, no one knew about the incident where Golden Council had killed a delegate of the Tower of Wisdom in the mark space.
The people of the Holy See, the Eastern Orthodox Cult, and the heretics weren’t in tune with each other. The matter wasn’t worth pursuing; after all, those who the Tower of Wisdom had sent as delegates were considered sacrificial, their life or death was inconsequential to them.
After a round of pleasantries,
OId Aises led Lin Fei through the gate.
Lin Fei moved slowly, scanning his surroundings.
Behind the gate lay a vast expanse of low stone buildings. Among them rose four towers, standing tall with their tops each glowing softly in white light.
The stone structures were dark brown, and the streets in between were desolate, with hardly a soul in sight. The occasional Mage that did appear was always in a hurry, lacking any sense of leisurely shopping.
"I regret that due to our research, most of us travel directly through Teleportation Formations and rarely have time to leisurely stroll outside. A large chunk of our lives is occupied by research and study," explained the white-robed Aises.
"I understand,’ replied Lin Fei with a nod.
Aises moved forward a few paces, stepped out ahead of the group, and then tapped his staff lightly.
Hum!!!
Countless Magic Patterns extended like vines across the ground, with light beginning to spread along these patterns centered around his feet.
Aises stood amid the light, scattering a handful of black sand-like substance from his hand.
All at once, little white Magic Array Patterns appeared beneath everyone’s feet.
"Teleportation!" Aises roared.
Lin Fei’s vision blurred for a moment as his surroundings swiftly transformed.
He now stood at the entrance of a spacious hall, with no one else following through. The entire hall contained just two people—himself and Aises.
Aises stood before him, smiling.
"This is the guest reception room of my city in the sky reserved for guests of your caliber. You are entitled to the highest standard of reception," he said.
"I am truly honored," Lin Fei replied with a smile. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation votes and Monthly Tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
