Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The beast

"Good enough... I’ll stay for a day and leave tomorrow," Kael said, and the man nodded.

"Yes, yes... that would be great," the man replied with a smile.

"Now, time to rest and prepare for tomorrow. This place is part of the Low Lands, and not just here but a vast expanse of land. I can’t grow stronger in this place—I need to head to the Middle Lands. But I doubt the people here know the way. Still, I remember the direction those terrifyingbeingswent. I shouldfollowthem.

"There are two ways to grow stronger: one is by killing beings with the same concept as mine, and the other is through training... but I don’t even fully understand what my concept is yet," Kael pondered as he walked out.

Outside, the two guards and Ailey were waiting.

"What happened? Is Dad okay?" Ailey asked, worry evident in her tone.

Kael nodded, and she rushed inside.

Kael glanced at the guards, sighed, and walked away.

"What’s wrong with him?" the guard on the right asked, puzzled.

"He isn’t a normal being, so shhh, before your mouth gets you killed," the guard on the left scolded, both watching Kael disappear into the distance.

Kael didn’t leave immediately. He wanted to see if he could gather more information, but it was pointless—everywhere he went, people knew less than Ailey’s father.

With a sigh, Kael walked into an old man’s shop.

"Some food and a drink," Kael said.

The man turned around. He had white beards and wore tattered clothes. Physically, he seemed strong, but his appearance—unkempt hair and worn-out attire—was discouraging.

"Right away," the man said with a smile.

Kael frowned. He felt an unsettling sensation, but he ignored it.

A few minutes later, the mouthwatering scent of food filled the air. A strange dish was placed in front of him.

"The appearance isn’t bad, but the scent... it’s addictive," Kael thought, glancing at the man, who wore a strange smile.

Kael picked up the fork and took a bite. The taste could only be described in one word.

"Delicious," he muttered, continuing to eat. Yet, he felt neither hunger nor fullness.

"I presume this is either a trait of the Chaos Body... or a result of my concepts merging," Kael thought.

"That will be a few Parakot. But I can give it to you for free if you answer a question," the man said.

His voice was calm, natural, yet that smile...

Kael’s body tensed. He was ready to flee or attack, depending on the strength this man revealed.

[All-Seer]

Name: ??

Rank: !!!!

Concept: !!!!

Ability: !!!!

Danger level: ??????

Kael was stunned. His body tensed even more before returning to normal.

If he couldn’t even see this man’s stats, then running was pointless. It would be better to remain calm and listen. Otherwise, he might never escape.

"Interesting... smart," the man mused.

"Why didn’t you run? Hah, don’t worry—I won’t attack you," the man said with a grin.

Kael smiled lightly. "I wanted to go, but I’m curious about your question."

"Haha! What a fascinating being," the man chuckled.

"What do you understand about hunger? Do you think extreme hunger can drive someone insane?" he asked, a cheeky smile on his face.

Kael thought for a moment before answering.

"Likely. But a sane person would find food before it gets to that point."

The man nodded.

"But what about hunger you can’t control? Hunger that takes over at any time? You’re lucky there’s food here," the man said with a laugh before vanishing.

Kael instantly moved back, retreating dozens of meters in an instant.

"Hunger I can’t control? What does he mean?" Kael thought.

Then, realization struck. His concept... the Void Concept revolved around hunger—but hunger for power. So why should he be worried? And what did the man mean by, ’You’re lucky there’s food here’?

Before he could think further, someone snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Kael, here you are! I’ve been looking for you. I have something to show you," Ailey said, arriving in front of him with a smile.

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"Dad said I should do this to create a good impression on you... Who are you, Kael?" Ailey thought as she grabbed his arm and pulled him along.

Kael didn’t resist. He simply raised an eyebrow and followed.

Ailey took him around the village, showing him various places while they ate strange snacks and foods. However, Kael remained preoccupied, deep in thought.

By the time night fell, Ailey brought Kael back to her father’s mansion.

Kael had also learned that her father was the village head, though he had already suspected it.

Later that night, Kael lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

’A hunger you can’t control... You’re lucky you have food here...’

Those words kept echoing in his mind.

Suddenly, he felt something.

His body grew weak, his vision hazy, and an overwhelming hunger surged within him.

But it wasn’t hunger for power.

It was hunger for blood.

Kael wanted to kill.

"So this is what he meant by ’hunger you can’t control’..." Kael thought as he lost consciousness.

*********

In a vast white space, Kael awakened.

He looked around—whiteness stretched a few meters in every direction, but beyond that, only darkness remained.

In front of him, a large square-like structure floated in the air, resembling a massive TV screen.

Kael turned toward it, and to his shock, he saw his reflection.

His eyes were blood-red, saliva dripped from his lips, and his expression was that of a savage beast.

He tried to move, but his body wouldn’t respond.

It was as if he had lost control.

His reflection grinned.

Then, his body moved on its own, vanishing at supersonic speed.

A deafening sound followed, shockwaves rippling through the air, cracking walls, and awakening multiple people.

"Fuck," Kael cursed as he watched his body enter a room.

Ailey’s room.

Kael watched in horror as his body moved on its own, slowly approaching Ailey. Standing by her bedside, his mouth hung open, saliva dripping onto her face as his body silently waited for her to wake up.

"Hmm... huh?" Ailey groaned, reaching up to wipe her face. She shuddered when she felt a cold, wet liquid.

She sat up abruptly and froze. In the dim moonlight, she saw a terrifying sight—a figure with glowing red eyes and saliva dripping from its mouth, staring at her with an eerie grin.

"Aaah!" she screamed, instinctively jumping back.

The moonlight streaming through the window illuminated the figure as it took a step closer to her.

"Kael...?" Ailey whispered in shock. But in the next instant, the being vanished.

She rubbed her eyes, confused. "Am I dreaming?"

Just then, something warm splattered onto her face. Looking up, her breath hitched—her eyes widened in horror. A whole arm was being devoured by the creature. The realization sent a wave of pain coursing through her body.

"Ah—!"

Her scream was abruptly cut short as her tongue was severed in an instant.

The agony was unbearable. Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed onto the floor, desperately crawling backward until her back hit the wall.

Kael’s body picked up her severed tongue and swallowed it whole, his grin widening. With a flick of his hand, he tossed something to the side—a bone. Ailey’s arm bone. Every last bit of flesh had been stripped clean.

"Hakshsh... nn... snks..." Ailey tried to speak, but only gurgles and blood escaped her mouth. Her vision blurred as dizziness and pain wracked her body.

Kael, trapped within his own consciousness, watched helplessly. He could see her eyes—filled with horror, confusion, and silent pleas. She was trying to beg him, but without a tongue, her words were lost.

The being that controlled his body locked eyes with Ailey and grinned, revealing its sharp teeth.

Ailey shut her eyes tight, trembling in despair. And then, Kael watched as his body tore into her, devouring her slowly and in the most horrific way imaginable.

BOOM! BOOM!

A loud pounding echoed through the room before the door burst open. Ailey’s father, along with several guards and villagers, stormed inside.

They halted, eyes widening in terror. Kael’s body crouched over something, the sickening crunch of bones and flesh filling the room.

"Hm... Kael?" Ailey’s father called, his voice wary. "Why are you here? Where’s Ailey?"

But then, the scent of blood hit him like a wave. His gaze drifted to the side, and his breath caught in his throat. There, lying beside Kael, was a severed finger. A pink ring adorned it—the same one his daughter always wore.

For a moment, silence filled the room.

Then—

"YOU MONSTER!"

Rage and grief twisted the man’s face as his eyes burned with fury. Without hesitation, he lunged at Kael in blind anger.

The others gasped as Kael’s body rose to its feet, blood staining his clothes, his mouth drenched in red.

Before Ailey’s father could react, Kael’s hand shot out, seizing him by the throat and hitting him on the ground effortlessly.

Then—Kael’s teeth sank into the man’s neck.

Screams erupted as blood gushed, splattering the nearby villagers. Skin tore, flesh ripped, and the metallic scent of blood grew even heavier in the air.

Panic spread like wildfire.

That night, chaos consumed the village. People ran, screamed, and begged for mercy—but there was no escape. Kael slaughtered them all.

***********

Morning.

Beside a river, a lone figure stood.

Kael gazed at his naked body, still covered in dried blood. He had regained control.

His lips curled into a grin.

"Delicious."

With that, he dived into the river.
