Chapter 147: Face your fears!
Chapter 147: Face your fears!
Light, disappear? Xia stuttered seeing the once bright room turned dark tilting her head she could see Kyle engaged in words with the hooded figure. And his facial expression wasn’t in a happy mood.
Attempting to move her legs suddenly refused her command. Turning into black jelly melting to the ground along with the rest of her body. The same happening to Ron.
No! Kyle yelled his eyes glowing red a thick vein bulging by the side of his head. Pulling the katana out he shot out towards the hooded figure.
Do you seriously think that low grade item scares me human? The figure scoffed in a disappointed tone.
Waving it’s hand multiple gold coins reacted to his movement. Levitating in the air in front of him. With another snap of his finger the hundreds of gold coins materialized into sharp shards.
Go. The figure commanded causing the hundreds of gold shard to shoot forward.
Gritting his teeth Kyle didn’t stop moving forward constantly slashing his katana at the incoming shards.
Am so stupid! What was I thinking following it here. Kyle inwardly fumed blaming himself for his parent currently predicament.
He had his suspicions but still went along with following a mysterious figure. And now he was facing the backlashes of his actions.
[Don’t be too hard on yourself, you didn’t really have a choice] snow softly uttered in a comforting tone.
Swoosh swoosh!
Multiple golden shards shot at Kyle like bullets. He was able to keep up with their speed thanks to his katana. But no matter how many shards he deflected more still aimed for him.
Argh! He grunted hit in the wrist by a shard shifting his momentum off balance
Which only led to a dozen more shards hitting him in the chest.
[Hp: 40/200]
He’d lost a great amount of health points during his fight with the ant’s. And his regenerating process was slow.
Changing course he hid behind one of the tall pillars in hopes to regroup. But the figure wouldn’t let him.
Now isn’t the time to rest demon. Snapping his fingers the hundreds of gold coins stopped moving forward. Almost as if frozen in place.
Snapping his finger again the gold shard turned shooting back heading for Kyle. Gritting through the pain he pushed his legs running up the pillar. The golden shards following behind him.
I have to find a way to get to him. Kyle muttered leaping off the pillar onto the next. With the shard on his tail in hot pursuit.
Unfortunately he didn’t posses any long range skill he could use except dark flames and death’s call. Dark flames requiring 10 of his demon energy per flame. And death’s call requiring thrice as much for activation per ball.
[Demon energy: 0/50]
It’s been like that ever since we encountered. His demon energy slowly replenished through his body according to the abundance of negative energy in the environment.
But since meeting this hooded figure, his demon energy had not only reset to 0 but also stopped replenishing.
Snow I need your help. Kyle inwardly spoke still running around the huge hall avoiding the shards. But unfortunately there wasn’t a response from his system.
Snow, snow? Damnit! He cursed knowing this hooded individual was interfering with his system just like Vladimir.
Guess I’ll have to do this on my own. Looking for options his mind raced fast feeling his stamina almost depleted.
Just give up already. The figure teased seeing Kyle struggling to evade his attack. He could tell his stamina was already low and a matter of time before he succumbed to fatigue. So this was the best way to slowly finish him off.
Tracing Kyle’s movement with his eyes the figure was surprised seeing Kyle suddenly stomp his feet. Shooting high to the ceiling pushing himself off the next second to the hooded figure.
Got you. With the katana in his hands he furiously slashed at the figure. Just 2 meters away from him.
Clang!
His attack was hindered by a translucent energy shield.
You didn’t think it would be that easy did you? The figure chuckled, his left arm stretched out.
No, I expected more. Kyle grinned making the figure frown. A swooshing sound cut through the air heading fast for the figure. Tilting his head he dodged the attack but had a shocked expression seeing the black spike split in two piercing his chest.
Phough! Y-you tricked me. The figure groaned coughing up fresh blood to the floor. The energy shield fading into thin air along with the force holding up the golden shards.
You underestimated us, that was your mistake.
You might want to move from there. The figure said. Paying heed Kyle moved from spot along with xia and Ron going over to where the figure was. Standing at a relatively far distance from the figure.
Unbelievable. Kyle softly muttered experiencing all this. He’d only seen such happening in exploration movies and fantasy movies. But now he was watching it happening with his own two eyes.
Welcome to the hall of the fallens. The figure said with a warm tone.
Clang!
A final clang sound erupted as the room shifted into balance.
Follow me, there is something you need to see. The figure said already walking away like usual.
Not having a choice Kyle and his parents followed suit tailing behind the figure.
I’ve always seen all these in movies but I never thought this was real. Kyle uttered with a hint of shock and excitement staring at the perfectly sculptured white statues.
If you like what you see then you’re surely going to die for what’s inside. The figure smiled. Going up the colourful steps made from different marble colours.
Reaching the end of the not so long steps there was a silver gate with an embodiment of two lions in front.
Open. The figure calmly said and like a command the two silver doors opened. Revealing a breathtaking sight.
Before their eyes layed a golden hall littered with golden coins all over. A long majestic oval table made out of gold was positioned at the center of the hall.
On top were several cutleries also made from gold. Even the ceiling was adorned with gold and a touch of silver. Simply put everything here was gold!
Shiny! Xia and Ron both exclaimed hurriedly rushing into the hall. Heading over to a pile of gold coins playing with it.
I never thought they’d be a handful. A light smile formed on Kyle’s face seeing his parents happy.
It had been a long time since they spent time together on earth. And never for once had they exhibited this playful character until now.
[Don’t tell me you’re going to cry.] Snow teased feeling tears building in Kyle’s eye.
In your dreams. Kyle retorded. Shaking his head a bit he stared at the figure thinking of something.
This place, what’s it called?
The hall of treasures. Walking forward he gestured Kyle follow suit. Taking his seat at an empty chair Kyle followed suit.
That space is already occupied by the owner. The figure uttered making Kyle raise a brow. He’d thought this hooded individual was the owner of the castle but it seems there was a bigger fish.
What’s your motive? Why bring us here and show us all this. Kyle asked with a stern face. He’d been playing along to see were this went but it was time to get serious.
Motive? The only motive I have is to help people. The figure retorded in an annoyed tone making Kyle’s brow crunch more.
Bullshit! I highly doubt an unknown stranger would help three people it hasn’t met from the goodness of it’s heart.
It?
I couldn’t decipher if you were male, female or something else through your hood. So I termed you it. Chuckling a bit the figure slightly shook it’s head.
Humans are such fascinating creatures. It said in a sweet feminine voice.
I must really thank his highness for giving me such task. The individual spoke again this time using Kyle’s voice.
A shape shifter? Usually according to the books he’d read. Shape shifters were beings with the ability to change shape.
Mostly impersonating a person or an item they can shap shift into. But in some books shape shifters also posses the ability to steal the voice of whatever it copies.
[ I wouldn’t necessarily say its a shape shifter but more of a mimic.] Snow butted in.
Mimic? He knew what mimics were. Being spirits that could mimic the voice a person.
It was similar to shape shifting ability but without changing into the person. And mostly believed to be demons.
Tsk. Humans fantasize too much. If I was a demon you’d be aware. Getting up Kyle’s senses were on high alert. His hand just inches away from the hilt of the frozen katana.
I should be able to take it. Kyle had a determined look if any surprises were to occur.
I must say though. You three are by far the most intriguing creatures I’ve seen. With a light smile the figure snapped it’s fingers causing the hall to shake violently.
Dark shadows potruding beneath it’s legs spreading everywhere. Turning the once golden escapade dark.
It’s time for your first trial. The hooded figure said in a sinister tone. Two omnious green eyes staring at Kyle.
