Chapter 138: Massacre in hell
Chapter 138: Massacre in hell
"Our forces were greatly attacked." Kyle muttered, staring back at the tropes of prisoners. as what were once hundreds if not thousands, were now lesser than their prior numbers.
[The reason you lost most of the prisoners is because of the wraith’s. Their ghostly phantom like presence, gives them a great advantage in battle. As they can’t be easily hit or killed, whereas they could easily kill them.] Sighing Kyle already knew it, but still it was just too tough to accept. He had a legion of prisoners escaped from the cells of hell, but now they were nothing more than hundreds. The first town like area they encountered, was occupied with goblins and trolls. Though strong, the prisoners could still land a hit on them and eventually kill them.
But advancing forward there was a mixture of the goblins, trolls, wraiths and these strange birdlike creatures that looked like dragons.
"Wait.. the birds!" Kyle panicked, realizing he’d totally forgotten about the strange dragon like birds. A swooshing sound pierced the air as Kyle looked up towards the source.
There he could see one of the dragon like birds, descending at him with full speed. It’s mouth extended, as a bright ball of red could be seen swirling in it.
Not taking any chances Kyle leapt back in time, just before the creature fired the swirling ball of flame. The football sized flame was fast, landing where Kyle once stood in no time.
’Boom!’
The moment it touched the ground, it exploded upon impact. Making a small hole and scarring the ground more dark, with spider crack lines running across the floor.
[Kyle those are rank E lava dragon birds. Aerial defenders of hell. They’re mainly known for their ability to shoot balls of lava from their mouth, stealth, and godlike speed reaching up to 180km/s. With their hard dragon like scales acting as tough defense, making them a valuable point of both attack and defense.]
’Damn it! another rank e creature.’ Kyle grunted a bit frustrated. He could see the bird was fast, swooping into the air descending like a rocket. Swinging his hands, Kyle shot out balls of dark flames to which the bird swiftly avoided.
’Boom!’
Kyle leapt back in time, before the swirling ball of flames hit him. Looking round, he couldn’t see any traces of the bird anywhere.
’Snow can you pinpoint the bird’s location?’
[Unfortunately Kyle I can’t. It seems like the bird is somehow blocking my scanner.] Snow said making Kyle frown more. Unlike the wraith’s that could still be seen, these birds were terrifyingly fast. Adding to their speed was their ability to fly, making them a troublesome opponent to handle.
Feeling the hairs on his arms stand at attention, Kyle had a gut feeling the dragon bird wasn’t far away from him. Getting prepared he saw a figure dash from the right, speeding towards him like a bullet.
"Gotcha!" Kyle excitedly said, firing of a jetski of dark flames to the creature.
’What?’ He had wide eyes seeing the bird unfazed by his dark flames, still moving forward crashing into him with a bang.
’Bang!’
A gunshot sound went off, as the bird collided with Kyle. It’s sharp razor wings cutting Kyle’s skin like butter, making him scream in pain.
’Screech!’ The bird let out an ear deafening screech. opening it’s mouth, Kyle could see the red ball of flame swirling in it.
"Fuck!" Attempting to grab the bird’s wing he quickly regretted it, as his hands were burned from just touching the creature.
’What the hell is this damn bird made of?’ Kyle grunted, using his legs to forcefully slam the bird a few feet’s back. Looking at his hands, he could see they were really burnt as some layers of his skin had peeled off.
[Kyle those birds aren’t just called lava birds for nothing. Though their skin is tough, it can also rise to high temperatures especially when they’re about to shoot out a lavaball.] Snow spoke, making Kyle roll his eyes at her.
’Well, you could’ve included that from the beginning.’ Kyle sarcastically spoke, earning a ’hmph’ from snow.
’Well dark flames doesn’t do much against the damn bird, so that leaves me with only one option.’ Shaking his head a bit, he could see the bird was already charging at him with incredible speed, at a low altitude. Stomping his feet he sprung out like a blur, closing the distance between him and the bird in an instant. Kyle pretended to punch the creature which shot a lava ball at him, but changed tactics the last minute. Leaping up a bit he activated death’s call, shooting the dark spiked ball of death to the creature.
’Boom!’
A small explosion occured as the spiked ball crashed, erecting small clouds of dust.
’Glad it’s over..’ Kyle inwardly thought, expecting to see the systems notification alerting him of the lavabirds death, but it didn’t come.
’Tsk! It doesn’t matter.. it’s probably not dead yet.’ Kyle shrugged thinking the bird wasn’t yet dead, but almost.
[Kyle I have a bad feeling about this.] Snow suddenly blurted out, making Kyle frown.
’Why?’
[T-the chains Kyle. I don’t hear the chains.] Snow said, making Kyle’s face go pale as that’s when it hit him. Usually when he fired death’s call at someone or something, the dark chains usually spring out from the ground wrapping the individual. Though the area he fired it was dusty, he couldn’t hear the clanking of the chains or the screeching of the bird.
[Kyle! Behind you!] Snow yelled jolting Kyle to turn around, and that’s when he could see a huge lava ball hurling fast at him. Before he could react a figure stood in his front, stretching it’s right hand out the dark spike goo elongated, forming a big baseball glove.
’Boom!’
The lava ball collided with the dark goo exploding upon impact, blasting a huge amount of the dark goo to the ground pushing Ron back a bit.
’Screech!’ The creature was enraged seeing it’s attack blocked, by this zombie like creature. Shooting itself forward, it attempted to slice Ron in two with it’s sharp razor wings. But it was stopped by the same dark goo that wrapped around it’s head, stopping it’s momentum.
"Bad Birdy." Xia frowned yanking the bird to her, the black goo tightly constricting the bird. Which struggled to break free, firing off lavaballs after lavaballs, blasting some good off only to be replaced by more.
Using it’s wings it tried flying away but xia wouldn’t let it, slamming the bird to the ground pinning it’s wings. The black goo never stopped moving like it had a life of it’s own, wrapping the bird’s head more.
’Belch!’ Xia suddenly belched making Kyle stare at her a bit weirdly, but he soon understood as the black goo retracted back, forming the arm spike.
"Why does this feel like a venom movie." Kyle joked, not knowing whether to laugh or cry seeing the bird’s headless body. Xia then walked over to Ron, giving him some of her dark goo.
"Advance.." xia stammered pointing forward, with a mixture of confidence and determination. Looking ahead, Kyle then looked back at his parents and the prisoners.
"I don’t think we should continue advancing forward." Kyle calmly said, making xia and Ron raise a brow.
"W-why?.." they both asked a bit frustrated.
"Because it’s too dangerous and we’ve already lost a lot. It’d be suicide if we continue like this." Kyle frowned, averting his gaze from them. It was true their numbers were diminishing fast, and their opponents are way ahead of them. but the real reason Kyle said that, was because of his parents.
Kyle didn’t know if miracles were real, but it sure happened in hell as he found his parents. And he was sure as hell not going to put their lives in danger.
"Kyle.." xia placed her hand to his shoulder, raising his head up to meet her eyes.
"W-we.. fight!" Xia gestured, forcing a bitter smile from Kyle. It was his fault his parents were this way, as if he didn’t go to that bar then none of this would’ve ever happened.
"But-"
"Never.. give.. up!"
"You have to understand mom, it’s not safe. i-i can’t risk loosing you."
"Till.. the end." Xia softly uttered pinching Kyle’s cheek a bit.
[Kyle your mother has a point, if we go back now we’re just sitting ducks. There’s no escape route back there but death. Yes going forward is suicide, but it’s our only option to find a way off this forbidden place.] Snow chipped in.
’Why does it feel like you’re hiding something from me.’ He’d gotten used to snow’s voice, so he could tell when she was hiding something from him.
[Ahh! Fine.. I didn’t want to tell you before, but I think I might’ve found a way for us to escape.] Snow blurted out making Kyle’s eye go wide.
’Really.. how?’
[Am not sure yet, but we have to advance further. It’s our only choice.] clenching his fists tightly, he couldn’t deny xia and snow were both right. It would be stupid of them to return back now, and await death. Moving on also spelt death for them, but at least they’d have the chance to fight their way.
Shaking his head he smiled weakly, letting out a sigh of defeat. "Fine mom. You win.."
Hugging her they then continued onward, and it didn’t take long before they reached a more open field, bigger than the first two combined.
"Now what do we have here?"
In front Kyle had expected to see an army of wraiths, goblins, trolls, and the lava birds but there just stood a single figure ahead. A frown soon formed on Kyle’s face, recognizing the hooded creature.
"I admit I didn’t see this coming." Void eater snarled with a malicious intent. "To think a lowlife f rank demon like you would have the balls to play boss, and gather some groups of undead prisoners to stir trouble in hell?" "Haha? definitely not what I anticipated." The necrolite smiled shaking his head a bit.
"Too bad I have to kill you now." Snapping his fingers, dozens of wraiths sprung from the ground attacking the prisoners.
"Shit! it’s an ambush." Kyle cursed, seeing they’d walked right into a trap. The wraiths moved like blurs, mercilessly slaughtering the prisoners. Massacring a quarter of their forces, within less than 30 seconds.
