Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Suspicion of Excessive Defense
Back at her seat, Le Tong opened the file on the desk, staring blankly at the document. After a long while, she let out a soft sigh and turned the page to the second.
Although President Ji was very busy today, Le Tong didn’t have many tasks. As the workday was ending, Le Tong asked Ji Rui if he needed her to work overtime. He clearly told her to leave on time.
Le Tong didn’t say anything, hung up the phone, packed up, and left. It was rare not to have to work overtime, so she went into the supermarket and bought a bunch of ingredients and snacks while passing by.
The temperature in late autumn was increasingly cold, with the north wind blowing briskly against her face, causing a slight pain. Le Tong didn’t pay much attention, carrying a large bag of items, leisurely walking back toward her apartment.
The entire afternoon she felt a bit uneasy, and even now, she still hasn’t recovered.
The wind was really strong, seemingly with fine sand blowing into her eyes. Le Tong raised her head, sniffled hard, and blinked desperately against the sky, trying to fan away the wetness in her eyes.
"Bang"
Le Tong’s left side was suddenly hit hard from behind. Once she endured the severe pain in her shoulder and back and came to her senses, she realized her bag was snatched by the man sprinting away in front.
Inside the bag, aside from her phone, cash, and bank cards, were two items she treasured dearly. Feeling extremely anxious, Le Tong ignored the pain in her body and chased forward with her newly bought items.
After chasing a few steps, she watched as the man gained some distance. Feeling anxious, without thinking, she raised the bag of items and threw it fiercely at the back of the man’s head.
"Ah!"
The man was accurately hit on the back of the head by the large bag of items from behind, and fell to the ground with a "crack".
Le Tong caught up, afraid he might resist, and then picked up the bag of items and hit him several times on the head until he protected his head and begged for mercy.
A few passersby gathered around, pointing and talking, all saying the man deserved it. Seeing the man not getting up, Le Tong crouched down and reached for her bag.
The man lay on his side on the ground, raised his head, gripping the bag refusing to return it to Le Tong.
"You vicious woman!"
Le Tong glared at him, intending to curse back, but was scared back two steps by the blood flowing from his forehead, covering his face.
"Tsk, a guy like this deserves to be beaten to death, still dares to curse!" The surrounding onlookers supported Le Tong.
Le Tong gathered herself, only wanting to quickly retrieve her bag, pulled hard, and got her bag back. Glancing at the terrifying sight of the robber’s face covered in blood, she hesitated slightly, wanting to take out her phone to call the police.
Unexpectedly, before she could get her phone out, police officers in uniform parted the crowd and came over.
"Officer, this damned woman injured me, I want to sue her! Make her pay for my medical expenses, I XX!"
The man lying on the ground, covered in blood, accused viciously first, pointing at Le Tong and swearing.
"Officer..." Le Tong was so angry she pointed at the man, intending to explain to the two officers.
"Miss, please come to the police station to assist with the investigation!" One of the officers stopped in front of her, cutting off her words.
The other officer went over, grabbed the cursing man lying on the ground up, and shouted sternly.
"Shut up! Talk at the police station!"
Le Tong followed the officers for a couple of steps, saw the big bag of items at her feet, and bent down to pick it up, thinking to herself the frozen dumplings inside must have shattered.
The police station was within a few dozen meters in the alley across the road. All the way, the man didn’t stop cursing, Le Tong followed behind, ignoring him.
At the police station, they sat down. Le Tong briefly told what happened, when an officer was taking notes, another officer carefully looked into her bag of items and found a glass bottle of chili sauce inside.
"Damn it, you bloody woman, you knew there was heavy stuff in the bag and still hit me so hard, I want to sue you!"
Le Tong didn’t bother with him, as she felt the man was simply being unreasonable.
"Officer, I want to find my boss, I want to sue her for intentional injury!"
"Your boss? Hmph, who?" The officer taking notes snorted coldly.
"Brother Qiang!" The man banged the table and roared fiercely!
The two officers were taken aback, exchanged a glance, soon the officer taking notes turned to Le Tong, his face solemn, and said.
"Miss Le, you are suspected of exceeding self-defense limits, please stay to assist the investigation!"
