Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted -
Chapter 39: How Can I Live Happily?
Chapter 39: Chapter 39: How Can I Live Happily?
In fact, in the middle of the mother and son’s conversation, Victoria had been eavesdropping on it all along, making her eyes even more teary. Was it true that she was not allowed to marry Matthias from the start? Were all the beautiful memories she had with Matthias just an illusion? She really hated her life now that no one loved her. After hearing the cruel words spoken by Matthias’ mother, she was determined to divorce Matthias when the time came.
She sat back in bed contemplating while propping her head on her knees. If she thought about it more critically, Amber was indeed more worthy of marrying Matthias than herself. However, if she said this, then Matthias would be angry and would not let her divorce him. Now she had to think of a way to make Matthias really hate her. Seeing Matthias’ mother hate her son so much because her son rebelled, she did not want Matthias to be rude to her mother. Besides, she had no right to be selfish all the time.
When Matthias entered the room, Victoria pretended not to hear anything. However, that didn’t mean she wanted to continue being sweet to her husband. She had to start watching her attitude towards her husband so that he wouldn’t continue to love her.
"Matthias, I want to rest in my room first. Thank you for taking care of me." Victoria rushed out of the room while lowering her head.
Matthias immediately hugged his wife’s body from behind. "Victoria, let me hug you before you sleep."
Victoria tried to hold back the tears that wet her eyelids. Slowly she released her husband’s touch. "Have you forgotten the rules I made? You are not allowed to touch my body without my permission."
"Why are you suddenly acting like this? Don’t tell me you were actually eavesdropping on my conversation with my mother!"
"From the start, I couldn’t marry you. Why would I force a destiny that can’t be fought?"
"Victoria, don’t mind what my mother said! I really want to ignore it. I don’t want to lose you again."
"I will meet Amber tomorrow morning to return the dress."
"But, will you be okay just meeting him alone?"
"It’s okay. There’s something I want to talk to her about anyway."
"Don’t talk about stupid things, Victoria!"
"What right do you have to control my life?!" Victoria laughed in annoyance while putting her hands on her hips. "Just because your attitude has started to soften today, you immediately trust me so easily!"
"I didn’t mean to boss you around!"
"Then, now let me go back to my room."
Matthias pulled his wife’s hand until her body was now caught in his embrace. No matter how much his wife wanted to rebel, he still didn’t want her to run away from his life again.
"Matthias, didn’t you hear me? Let me go right now!"
"Actually, I deliberately kept you here longer so that my mother wouldn’t see you. I’m worried that she still hasn’t left."
"Isn’t it more likely that you still want to hold me back? Why do you always torture me like this?"
His tears continued to flow as he heard the hurtful words spoken by his beloved wife again and the message from his mother. Why couldn’t he love the woman who could make his life happy? Was it really his destiny not to live happily?
"I never abused you. I actually care about you a lot. But you always misunderstand me. You always think I’m abusing you, but I actually treat you well."
"If you really don’t want to torture me, then in ten minutes you have to let me go."
"Well, I don’t have the right to keep you for too long. I always remember my role as your contract husband."
In Victoria’s heart, she actually began to consider Matthias more than a contract husband. However, after thinking about it again, she could not be selfish. First, her heart still did not love Matthias completely. Second, their families did not approve of their relationship from the start. Their marriage was not wanted by everyone from the start, not because she herself did not want it.
Surely Matthias really kept his promise to let her go in ten minutes. Victoria returned to the guest room weakly. She slowly sat on the edge of the bed while letting out the tears she had been holding back. She was very angry with herself because she did not deserve to be loved by anyone. The only person who could love her now was Ansel. However, because she had hurt Ansel’s feelings and called off the engagement, Ansel must still hate her, even though at their last meeting, Ansel still seemed to love her.
Victoria kept patting her chest to vent her anger and wanted to scream. However, if she screamed, Matthias would come to her right now. Therefore, she decided she wanted to be alone and prepare herself mentally to meet Amber tomorrow morning.
"Why have I always had a hard life? Why can’t I live happily? The moment I started to like Matthias, I wasn’t allowed to fall in love again."
The next day, Victoria immediately visited Amber’s office to return the dress she wore to the party. She deliberately did not want to invite Matthias so that Amber would not misunderstand their relationship anymore. Besides, she already considered Matthias as just a friend, not a husband. In addition, all the strange incidents she experienced while attending the party, she suspected that they must have something to do with Amber. It’s just that she didn’t want to say this openly to Matthias because she still didn’t have evidence to prove Amber’s crime.
Victoria put the paper bag on the table while looking at Amber with a cold gaze. "I have washed and repaired your dress. Thank you for the dress back then."
Amber pursed her lips. "I’m sorry, I should have checked the condition of my dress."
"It’s okay. You didn’t do it on purpose."
"By the way, I was really surprised to see Matthias treating you like his wife. Aren’t you just friends?"
"Yes, indeed our relationship is only as friends. Therefore, I want you not to misunderstand again."
