Chapter 410: Chapter 410: There’s Something Wrong with This Lottery Box!
Nina’s voice had barely fallen when Pan Xing turned his gaze to Jiang Li.
"Miss Jiang, why don’t you go? You’re a big star, so you must have really good luck."
"Yeah," Nina said, twirling her hair and also looking at Jiang Li. "Why not let Miss Jiang go? What do you say, Captain?"
The "Captain" Nina referred to was the tattooed man.
He fiddled with the complex-looking watch on his wrist and didn’t join the discussion.
"Whatever, it doesn’t matter who goes, as long as it’s not number one."
"Then we’ll trouble Miss Jiang," Nina said with a smile.
Jiang Li frowned.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to draw the lottery, but Nina and Pan Xing were pushing her into it, back and forth, as if they were forcing a duck onto a perch.
It was as if something had been set up in advance, waiting just for her.
Yu Li saw Jiang Li’s dilemma and volunteered, "How about I go instead?"
"Don’t, bro," Nina interjected, as Jiang Li had anticipated. "Ladies first. You’ll get on camera if you draw the lottery. Leave this opportunity for Miss Jiang."
"Since it’s ladies first," Jiang Li said with a smile, "then you should go. You said yourself there’s a camera up ahead. I’m already so famous, one more shot won’t make a difference, nor will one less. But it’s different for you."
Nina’s face changed instantly. "What do you mean?"
"I mean it for your own good."
Yu Li couldn’t help but laugh, earning a glare from Nina.
She ran up to the Captain, sulking, clung to his arm, and said, "Third Master, I don’t want to draw. I’m the unluckiest. You wouldn’t want to see me draw a number one for our team, would you?"
"That’s true," Lord Guan said as he stroked his chin and then looked at Jiang Li. "Then you go."
Yu Li pressed his lips together. "Captain, this isn’t really appropriate."
Everyone knew that this lottery drawing was a thankless task.
If someone drew something good, that would be one thing, but if they ended up with the worst supplies, that person would be blamed by the whole team.
These few people didn’t seem easy to get along with. If there were any issues later on, they might all be attributed to what Jiang Li had drawn today, which would be a gross injustice.
Yu Li was about to go himself when Jiang Li suddenly grabbed his arm.
She shook her head at him, "I’ll go."
"But..."
Jiang Li looked straight ahead. "There are only three teams left to draw now, and what’s left is a number one, a number nine, and a number five. I can’t fail to bet on a one-in-three chance, right?"
"What if?" Yu Li whispered. "Those people obviously just want to see you fail."
"There are no ’what ifs.’" Jiang Li was quite certain, then walked toward the lottery box.
[Here she comes, here she comes, the Goddess is walking towards us.]
[Others might not know, but our Sister Li knows how to tell fortunes. She never lost during any lottery draws on ’Flash Change.’]
[It was really a correct decision for Team 8 to pick Jiang Li to draw the supplies.]
Before approaching the staff member, Jiang Li had discreetly calculated a fortune.
Then she calmly reached into the left side of the lottery box and pulled out a slip.
The staff member glanced at it, "Congratulations to Team 8 for getting the number one supplies."
Instantly, Lord Guan’s face darkened.
Carrying a few burdens had already been hard enough, and now they had even drawn the worst number one supplies.
In the neighboring No. 2 supply box, we found only a tent, a box of compressed biscuits, five bottles of water. What could our even worse No. 1 have?
The remaining two teams, however, burst into cheers.
"Great, the No. 5 and No. 9 are ours now."
"Jiang Li, thank you hahaha, thanks for taking No. 1 on your own initiative."
Nina was also wearing a stern face, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Didn’t someone say they were definitely can do it? How come you drew a No. 1? How are we supposed to survive on the deserted island now?"
[Has Sister Li’s koi aura expired??]
[Who is this woman? Why is she always so sarcastic? It’s annoying to listen to.]
[Exactly, she complains about others’ draws without trying herself. I’ve never seen such behavior.]
Just as the staff was about to give Jiang Li the supply bag with only five bottles of water, they heard her, clutching her lottery ball, say:
"No, there’s something wrong with this lottery box."
The staff’s heart skipped a beat, "How could that be possible? How could there be anything wrong with the lottery box?"
"Exactly," Nina chimed in from behind, "It’s just your bad luck, and now you want to accuse the show’s team? It’s truly unlucky to be on the same team as someone like you."
The people from the other two teams were also full of complaints.
"Yeah, what can be wrong with the lottery box? Hurry up and move aside; don’t delay us."
"The missy is just being finicky, wanting the best even in a lottery draw. If not, just go home, wash up, and sleep."
Jiang Li ignored these remarks and simply looked at the staff in front of her, "Can I take a look at the box?"
The staff immediately furrowed their brows, "How can that be allowed? The other two teams haven’t drawn yet."
Jiang Li snorted coldly, "Your refusal to let me check it indicates that you’re guilty, doesn’t it?"
Seeing more and more onlookers gather to see the commotion, the staff hugged the box in their hands tightly.
"I, I need to find the executive director; this lottery segment is his responsibility, I don’t know anything."
Seeing him about to run, Jiang Li reached out and grabbed his wrist right away.
Yu Li was very supportive. Understanding the cue from Jiang Li’s eyes, he stepped forward, snatched the box, and dumped out its contents.
"Bang bang," the remaining two balls fell to the ground and eventually rolled to the feet of the crowd.
Someone with sharp eyes caught sight of the numbers and exclaimed in shock—
"How come they’re all number 1?!"
[What’s going on, is there really something wrong with the lottery box?]
[Why are there three No. 1’s? Did the production team intentionally want Jiang Li to get the worst supplies?]
[The production team couldn’t possibly be courting controversy, could it? Was it tampered with by someone?]
In a moment, all sorts of speculations rose up, mostly condemning the production team’s shady manipulation.
After all, the lottery box had been in the hands of the staff the whole time, and the guests could not possibly have had access to it.
If it wasn’t the production team playing tricks, then what was it?
Jiang Yan, who had witnessed the entire process, stormed up to the staff member, seizing him by the collar.
"What do you mean by this? Are you deliberately framing my sister?!"
The staff member had gone pale, "I, I don’t know, I really don’t know. How would I know the box would have three identical balls?"
"What’s all this noise? What are you all arguing about?" A stern voice suddenly cut through the commotion.
The crowd parted automatically, making way for the executive director who had hurried over upon hearing the noise.
"Heh, just in time," Jiang Yan said as he threw the person at the feet of the deputy director, "You’d best explain yourselves while everyone’s here. Why were there three identical balls in the box my sister drew from?!"
