Chapter 69: Slap that lotus
When the officer moved, Producer Go’s niece wailed loudly and tried to hold on to the officer’s clothes. It was simply ridiculous.
"You are crying so much, were you are a professional mourner in your past life?" Chi Lian asked and a few employees snickered.
The girl’s eyes were like a well that was overflowing with water.
"If you don’t want the police to view the security footage then simply admit the truth." Wenli said. Everyone in the office was a witness to her slander she was just making this a big issue for nothing.
Producer Go glared at Wenli and yelled, "Stop forcing her to admit something she doesn’t want to say."
Chi Lian was extremely angry with PD Go. She had tried to reason with the man and his niece to no avail. It was time to burst the bubble.
"PD Go, when you applied to this company you were required to fill in all the information about your family. I clearly remember that you are an only child with no brother or sister so where did this niece come from?"
PD Go suddenly became anxious. "I, I, I..., she is an adopted niece." He blurted.
"An adopted niece, PD Go, do you think we are all fools here." She looked at the girl who was latching onto PD Go as if he was her life line. "You must be the luckiest niece in the world to be protected by your uncle so much like this. The way you are holding each other, someone can easily assume something else. Young girl, you seem to be around eighteen or nineteen years old you should concentrate on your education or finding a job instead of doing stupid things like this. Youth doesn’t last forever."
Chi Lian said ’niece’ and ’uncle’ with air quotes."
Someone laughed when she made the air quotes. It was Chi Rui; someone had rushed upstairs and called him when the police came.
"What kind of uncle and niece? They are clearly sugar daddy and sugar baby." Chi Rui said. "I am willing to go to prison if I am lying."
Other employees were whispering and pointing at them.
"Stop slandering me." The young girl yelled.
"Yes, this is slander. Officer, arrest them for slander." PD Go said.
"PD Go, I don’t care if she is your niece, lover or your wife. I care about the fact that she is here sabotaging my business. I walked in on her bad mouthing me to someone on phone and promising to steal my next show. She bragged about how she was planning to sell it to HTV for a high price.
Officers, I want her arrested for attempted theft." She looked at PD Go, "As for you, you moved to this company because we offered you a high salary. I guess moving from a big media house to a small media house like ours is not suitable for you. I am afraid that we cannot house a big Buddha like you.
Wenli, give him his severance pay. From now on, he is fired from this company."
She reached for her phone in her pocket and asked for the officers we chat. She then proceeded to send the video of the girl planning to steal her next show material. The video was played for everyone to see and hear.
"One more thing," she turned around and looked at the girl. Since you claimed that I slapped you, I would hate to disappoint your viewers. "Feel free to press charges after what I do next." She said.
Piak! She slapped the girl across the cheek once.
PD Go’s niece was taken out in handcuffs and PD Go was thrown out by the security team.
Human resources sent out a companywide announcement. Anybody caught planning to steal intellectual property from the company would have to pay one hundred million in reparations.
PD Go’s position was also available for internal recruitment. All producers could try their luck. Furthermore the company had received a broadcasting license to operate a television and radio. Soon, they would go live with Phoenix television. All the anchors were told to work harder on their presentation and pronunciations before D day.
The last piece of news quickly erased all thoughts of PD Go and his niece. Some employees pulled out their phones and started calling home to tell their families the good news.
One of the news anchors Nian Chusiang cried tears. So many televisions had rejected her because one needed connections to get into their stations. Some of her friends had mocked her for failing to get a job. They laughed at her for working on an internet television. Soon, she would rub their faces in her success.
The Mighty little peep star: [Nothing in this empire ever gets past my cameras. A certain producer "uncle" at phoenix media brought his "niece" to work and they bullied all the employees. Today Lady Chi Lian came into the office and slapped the niece. Even the police was called, my oh my.]
Below the post was a gif of Chi Lian slapping at something.
She did not want to include the young girl’s face. Perhaps someday in future that young girl would come to her senses and get her life back on track.
Chi Lian did not stick around in her office after that. Instead, she followed her brother to the entertainment company upstairs.
"Less than an hour and the peep star has the story already. Sister, I think this paparazzo is stalking you." Chi Rui shook his head.
It was truly a puzzle how that person did it. They even had the guts to talk about the royal family.
Chi Lian pretended that she had no knowledge of this.
"Really!" she pulled out her phone to check. "I guess this is why I have been getting so many calls in the last few minutes. Everyone must have seen the gossip."
She had even received a text from Muyang asking her if she was okay and if she needed his help. When she said no, he sent the phone number of his attorneys.
"Brother, you received that email about the television license, right?"
"Yes, don’t worry; I have prepared enough stars for any of your variety shows. Of course most of them are new talent so you should not expect ratings to be high depending on their fame."
"Don’t worry about that, I will make sure the variety shows are interesting enough to pull in viewers on their own."
A knock on the door made them pause the conversation and Chi Rui’s new secretary brought in tea and cookies. When she left, Chi Lian had questions about her.
"Brother, she is not your usual type, why did you hire her?"
Chi Rui was obsessed with beautiful tall slender women. His new secretary was beautiful and on the tall side but slightly chubby. She reminded her of an adorable teddy bear.
"Her, she has an excellent set of pipes on her. I discovered her when she was singing on the street a few nights ago. However as you can see, her figure doesn’t suit the typical body most idols have. Most entertainment companies come for her voice but leave after seeing her physically.
She has a thyroid issue which prevents her from losing so much weight. She is now on medication. But you know people are used to slim female entertainers. Anything above forty five kilograms is frowned upon. You said our female idols should be healthy and promote body positivity so I took her in.
I didn’t know what to do with her so I told her to just start as my secretary and maybe we could create a miracle for her." He explained.
