Chapter 669: The foretelling peep star
In the night, the media scrambled to locate the yacht where these many very important people were partying. Their spouses rushed to call their phones and find discover their movements or demand for explanations.
Every item in the short video or pictures was analyzed and internet detectives investigated the price of the wines, the cutlery, the jewelry, the shoes. If it was seen in the picture it was investigated.
Before night ended, other authority figures were already online condemning their counterparts and separating themselves from their actions.
In the night, Chi Lian woke up and shared the location of the yacht, inciting other reporters to rush to the closest docks, or attempt to charter boats and be the first to capture the ripe looks of shame on the faces of the party attendants, especially the government workers.
However, the police was already at the site, forbidding press or anyone else to access the sea because the national weather service had issued an alert for unstable weather that night, the winds were supposedly harsh and the sea was rough.
Those who were closest to the docks could see the violence with which the waves rose high and crushed against the stony fence around the docks. With each violent crush, the small boats and large ones which were docked shook slowly. The old wooden dock itself creaked feebly like an old door in need of oiling.
The reporters who intended to spend the night wrapped their jackets around themselves tighter and some decided from inside the news vans.
In the phoenix news van, reporter Mo Pingfan who was wrapped in a heavy grey jacket opened the window slightly and peeped outside.
"It’s not good." she said.
"What?" the camera man who had fully covered his body in a blanket and stretched his legs out, asked.
"The weather, the wind is too strong." she answered.
"The national weather service will be condemned tomorrow for failing to issue a harsh weather alert earlier. If anybody dies out there, it will be worse and someone will be forced to resign after a lengthy press conference and many apologies." he told her.
As time went on, the weather alert turned into an emergency situation and all vessels on the water were forced to dock. The news started quickly to spread.
By the time the morning news was aired, the story had already broken that the yacht on which the affluent of society were having a good time, was missing and had likely met with an accident and overturned. The coast guard and the police were already engaged in a rescue mission and loved ones of the missing were arriving at the docks in droves to demand for the search of their loved ones.
Because these were important people, the search was ten times more intense than it had been when Muyang went missing.
Chi Lian was having breakfast with Muyang in the dining room and they were watching this news using a laptop similar to the one she gifted her brother Chi Zimo a long time ago.
"Look at them." T4 said in her mind. "They are scrambling to locate a mythical missing ship as if their lives depend on it."
He was referring to the police officers who were running back and fourth while keeping all the reporters and curious citizens at bay.
"Even international news is covering it and they are sharing our pictures and video. If we keep this up host we will soon meet our goal." An excited T4 did cartwheels on the screen and he started moon walking and doing a robot dance.
His excitement at the thought of having full energy reserves and someday returning to his home planet had made him so giddy.
"We should fake another scandal.." he suggested.
"Didn’t you say that it doesn’t work that way?" she asked him.
"If we do it ourselves, but if we simply tag along on someone else’s coats, it’s possible." he told her.
"We are on the last leg of the race T4, we can take our sweet time now." she informed him.
Next to her, Muyang said, "I don’t know whose strategy this was but it’s the perfect smoke screen. Look at these comments online, especially on the peep star’s page."
[Did you know that they would die peep star?]
[Are you a foreteller or did someone tip you off?]
[Why did you call it a party to die for?]
[Isn’t it time to change the words in your post peep star? A party to die for is such an insensitive thing to keep up in this kind of situation?]
[Last night I was envying those rich and influential people but today I am not. I am so relieved that I do not move in their social circles.]
"As expected, people will not go beyond seeing anything other than the luxurious nature of the party."
"It was my plan." she announced.
"Stop taking my credit." T4 commented.
"Yours and mine, what’s the difference?" she responded.
She bent her head down slightly and Muyang rubbed the top gently.
"Great job." he said.
"Me too," Mei-Mei who strolled in on Black guard’s back said. "Daddy, Mei-Mei too." she added.
Then, she climbed on to Muyang’s laps and moved her small head around until when Muyang touched it and rubbed the top.
"Great job." Mei-Mei, he said and added a kiss.
"Again daddy." she demanded.
Muyang laughed and he rubbed his daughter’s head, again.
While father and daughter played, Chi Lian answered a call from her cousin Wang Bolin.
"Cousin, what a nice surprise."
"Mmm, sister, how are you?" he responded.
"I am fine." she replied.
"I figured," he said.
"How are you cousin? And how is everyone else, including grandpa and grandma. I haven’t seen them since I returned."
"Everyone is fine and we all understand why you are not available, after all you had some things to deal with. For that reason, I will not keep you long on phone. I wanted to ask if you know who threw the yacht party. You know about the party which has been trending all over since last night." he explained.
She smiled and said, "Oh, I know about it. I am in the news business after all."
"That’s why I figured that you might know something. We have yet to find information on the one who threw the party. In addition to that, we do not know who attended the party and who didn’t. You are known for having many sources so I thought you could be of help."
"Mmm," she replied as she thought. Then she said, "I do have a list of potential people that attended the yacht party. It was thrown by one of the ministers on board, apparently. I do not know how true this is because we are hoping to interview the party attendees, as well. I will email you the list and you can take a look."
She smiled slyly, and sent a message to the emperor. Not all faces were seen on the video so it was not general knowledge who had attended the party or not. The emperor would decide which names he wanted to share and which ones he chose not to.
After five minutes, the emperor sent a list of names and she sent those to her cousin. She noticed that three names were missing from the list.
"The police has managed to rescue two women who are believed to have been on the yacht."
She was about to leave the table when Mo Pingfan said that and she looked back quickly. Who had been rescued?
