Chapter 612: No to the weather control device

Muyang internalized her assurances and he nodded. It was not in her nature to be deceitful or speak carelessly on matters she was unsure of. He trusted her fully, and if she said that a tsunami was coming, it was coming. He had seen some of the technology in her hands and he knew just how excellent it was. It was many years ahead of its time, perhaps if he went directly to the prime minister or the emperor with the device then he would save both of them the ordeal of being questioned by the scientists or weather experts who would be very opinionated about this. It would be better if Mujin, the empire’s number one known genius was involved as well.

"Can I take a look at the device?" he asked her.

"It’s in my lab in the science park, you can access it at any time." She told him. He had her password after all.

He nodded and she breathed out deeply.

"What’s wrong?" he asked her.

"You believe me." She said.

"Of course," he answered. "Isn’t that a given?"

"Not necessarily, I am speaking about things of which I am not an expert basing off the readings of a device that is unknown. I would not believe myself if someone came to me and made such claims."

"Chi-Chi, we have devices that detect earthquakes, a device that detects a tsunami two months away is ahead of its time , sure, but I have heard about scientists trying to invent devices that control the weather. What you have is not alien. Everyday someone out there in the world is trying to invent a special and unique device that can do wondrous and phenomenal things."

"You use the word alien too easily." She thought. The device was purely alien, one hundred percent alien.

"We also have weather control devices," T4 added, uninvited into their conversation. "Let me tell you host, those devices are not good things, especially if they are treated like toys. Of all the things that contributed to the unstable weather and destruction of plant life on my planet, weather control devices played a very significant part. If it was too hot, someone would make it rain. If the rain was irritating, another one would make it sunny. If someone wanted to do one of those romantic proposals they would make it snow. You cannot play around with weather like that, it’s dangerous. But, if you need a device that can control the weather, you can purchase one from the mall at a small cost. They are banned on my world and most were destroyed so the remaining ones are now as cheap as toys for children."

She could not help rolling her eyes secretly and scoffing. He had just said that those devices played a role in the systematic destruction of his world and he was telling her to purchase one if she wanted. That was one of worst sales pitches she had ever heard.

"No thank you." She replied.

"But you could change the weather at will, you could be a god!!" T4 said.

"Still, no thank you." She insisted.

"You could stop the tsunami." He added.

"Seriously T4, no thank you." She said, extremely irritated. How many times did she have to say no? Stopping the tsunami would be the first on a long slippery slope. What would stop her from making it rain if she found it too hot or making it snow because Mei-Mei wanted to play in the snow. This would affect the farmers or business men and women elsewhere, especially those who lived off the land and water. How about using lightning at will to strike down her enemies? What if it harmed an innocent passerby?

People could be evacuated ahead of time in case of a tsunami, some things should be handled the ordinary way first.

"What are you thinking about?" Muyang poked her forehead and asked. He had been observing her for quite a while and she seemed to be very lost in thoughts which had her frowning.

"I am thinking about the consequences of a tsunami and also the fact that Yan Moon and the Yan patriarch are plotting my brother’s death. I am trying to figure out which one of them to deal with first. I know grandpa said I should stay out of it but not when they go after my brother. I want to meet the patriarch of the Rai family."

Muyang was stunned, why did she want to meet him? He took one of her hands and folded it in his while he studied her face.

"What are you thinking my wife?"

She looked into his eyes and said, "I am thinking that the patriarch will want to avenge the attempt to set his family on fire. I need him to deliver something to the patriarch of the Yan family for me. Yan Da’s funeral is going to be held in three hours but if something happens to him with me or you in the vicinity; it will be obvious that we did something. They are so confident that the Rai’s are sitting ducks waiting to be shot and I have decided to make sure that the ducks bite back."

"What are you planning?" he asked her.

"I think their patriarch should sleep for a while, forever in fact. There is nothing unusual about him having a stroke at his grandson’s funeral. People will simply say that he loved his grandson so much that his death broke him. Hubby, do you know why I hate spiders?"

He smiled and thought for two seconds and said, "Because they are small and creepy."

"No, well yes," she laughed softly. "That and because they are silent killers, they weave a web and trap unsuspecting fools. There is this entomologist I know who created a new breed of spiders, one bite and you fall into a coma forever but it’s not a full coma because you can still hear and sense some things around you. These spiders are just like bees unfortunately, one bite and they die."

Muyang could read between the lines and he knew what she wanted to do. He looked at her bag and raised one of his eyebrows. He was waiting for her to produce the spider from her bag as she did with everything else usually.

Right on cue, she brought a small transparent glass bottle out of her bag. It looked like a perfume bottle, one would not think twice if they saw her with such a bottle. If they looked closer however, what was inside was not perfume but a small brown spider.

"Why are you walking around with something like that?" he asked her.

"Given the lengths our enemies will go to, there is no such thing as too much protection. This little fellow is also a form of protection. Can I trouble you to deliver it to the Rai patriarch, no, it can’t be you. Who should I send?"

"Ringo." Muyang said, "My brother can convince anyone to do anything."

She gave the bottle to Muyang and smiled, "Hubby I will wait for good news."

"Do not touch Yan Moon yet." He reminded her.

"I am saving him for later, I also think I should send my family on an underwater adventure for a while after Rize’s wedding. Before that tsunami gets here, we should clean up all the trash."
