Chapter 610: More chaos to come.
"What are you talking about? Marriage!!!" she asked. Marriage was not something you suddenly decided on out of the blue without even dating or attempting to. Unless it was a marriage of convenience or an arranged one. What exactly were these two thinking?
"She wants to marry me, I said yes. You will never have to decide which one of us has to leave you." he said, rather harshly.
"Stop it!" she said sternly. "Don’t put this on me, I did not tell you to marry bear all I said was talk to her. And the choosing thing, I only said because if you two continued on this path them down the road, she would most likely leave and I did not want to see that happening."
"It’s a done deal." he said. He sort of looked pained, as if he was being asked to peel his own skin off of his body. She did not want to be the source of his misery. These two were going to give her a major migraine.
"I will talk to Bear."
Spider turned around to face her abruptly and he said loudly, "No, stay out of it. We will handle our business our way." Then, he softened his voice because Little monk wiggled a bit.
"You don’t need to be in the middle of this boss, I have known her longer than you have. Me and her, we will deal with our own issues. You have given us a semblance of family and home, neither she nor I wish to ever cause our weird family to split up."
More than the young ones in the group, he, old tiger, bear, piggy, monkey and squirrel knew how difficult life was for them in the orphanage. The constant rejections, the lack of food or warmth. Having to wear patched clothes, being mocked at school for being orphans, having no option but to do the worst jobs no one wanted because they were un educated, un wanted and un loved. They were taken advantage of, beaten, broken.
She took them from that, accepted and elevated them. If Kiki had not found her, she would probably be dead or in prison by now.
He would also be dead and so would old tiger and the others because when they hid him, they risked their own heads.
They would be living in hiding and running from the Aoi organization.
He would never leave her, she was his savior and boss for life.
"You can’t marry for my sake." she told him.
"I am marrying for mine." he answered, then he closed his eyes, signaling that he did not wish to discuss this any further with her.
"Let it go host, we have more problems to handle than an ’are they right for each other situation.’ The weather monitoring device I set up for you in your lab is beeping."
"And?"
"It’s an extreme weather alert somewhere in your empire. You have no mission related to it but I just thought you should be aware."
She buried her head in her hands for a few seconds and took a deep breath. It felt as if chaos was following each other up to culminate into one big explosion. There was a rebellion plot to dismantle, enemies to deal with, a mission to finish, and now an extreme weather alert. Could the cloning technology be meant for her to make extras of herself?
"Boss," she heard Spider calling her in a very concerned voice.
"Mmm." she mumbled, without lifting her head up.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
"No." she replied, sincerely.
"What can I do?" he asked.
"Nothing." she answered.
"Should I call the young master?" he asked.
"Yes." she nodded.
With him gone, she told T4, "Show me, the weather thing."
A little over half a mile away at the offices of the CFS, the body of Yan Da was delivered by personal body guards of the Yan family. It was escorted by the patriarch of the family Yan Bingwen, the father of the dead young man, Yan Donghai, his uncle Yan Moon and his mother Go Xin Yi. While the men of the Yan family followed behind with solemn and stoic looks on their faces, Go Xin Yi cried loudly for her dead son. Accompanying Go Xin Yi was her sister Go Ting and two maids that were holding their bags.
Occasionally as they walked towards the morgue, the patriarch Yan Bingwen glanced back and glared at Go Xin Yi with a harsh gaze. He was very irritated by her loud wails which attracted attention of passers by, the kind of nosy attention which made people stop and ask them about their loss.
He did not want anyone to know that his grandson had died of a drug overdose, that kind of news was very embarrassing. He had used all his connections in the B city police to get rid of the police report and come here for a second opinion.
Just after they plotted the fire to kill the Rai’s his own grandson had died, it had to be a lie. Someone had killed him and when he found out, they would pay in blood.
It was his belief that the original medical examiner that did the autopsy had been incompetent.
They came to a door where they had been directed to, the body was taken inside and they were asked to wait outside.
"No, I need to watch the new autopsy with my own eyes to make sure that it has not been tampered with." Yan Bingwen insisted.
"Sir," the Doctor Tao’s assistant pushed the elder back and said, "If you do not trust the professor, take your body and go. Remember that we have a busy schedule and you squeezed yourselves ahead of the queue with money."
This was golden Tao’s assistant and what the young man hated more than wealthy people was wealthy people who used their money to interfere with his work.
A building had been set on fire last night and they had three bodies to examine from that fire, the police was pressuring them for answers because they had a suspected arsonist in custody but little evidence of his guilt. But this rich old man contacted their higher ups with a request to reexamine the dead body of his grandson because he thought the medical examiner that did the first autopsy was incompetent and he cut into their time.
He knew that M.E and he was not incompetent, the old man was simply a trouble maker.
"Father," Yan Moon whispered to his father, "It’s okay, doctor Tao was forced to accept our case, if we push our luck further he might reject us completely and no one can force him to help. He is the best in the field, don’t worry."
The Yan patriarch backed away and the door was sealed shut.
Two hours later, Professor Tao himself came out of the autopsy room and looked at the Yan’s coldly. These were the people who thought they were so special that their autopsy couldn’t wait. Did they think other families did not want answers?
"Overdose on a bad batch of drugs." he said and he went back inside.
