Chapter 604: Trying to trick me is useless.

Both of them were not new to this kind of attention from the press so they did not falter, and confidently, they walked slowly to the red carpet which had been prepared for the attendees, got their pictures taken and walked inside. The entire time, Muyang’s right hand did not once leave Chi Lian’s waist. He held her gently, looked at her softly, smiled at her secretly and dotted on her with his eyes.

"Those two are far gone, they are so deep in love that nobody here matters but themselves." one photographer commented.

"Contract marriage my ass." another said.

"They could be acting." a female reporter who worked with them said.

"You must be one of her haters." the first photographer told her.

The female reporter snorted and walked inside the venue, she was supposed to interview all the winners before or after they received their awards. The list of winners was always released early, it was not like those entertainment awards where all the nominees would attend and then applaud the winner while they forced themselves to smile.

This did not mean nominees were not invited to the awards, they received invitations and could attend if they wished.

Because the list of nominees and winners was publicized, most nominees including the sore losers attended the awards to save face and not appear bitter about their loss. Besides, the awards were televised live on NBTV so it was a good opportunity for free publicity for all their companies.

Ximeng was at home, sitting in her family’s living room with her father, mother and two brothers watching the awards.

She was munching on the fried peanuts and melon tea which she had delivered from Juan tea earlier in the day.

"Is that your design?" her mother asked when Chi Lian and Muyang appeared on the screen.

"Yes." she replied, looking mighty proud of herself.

"Great job." her father said, "I hear you might be doing better than me these days."

"I have no complaints." she gave a veiled answer.

"Sis, I have been thinking that maybe I can open up a second branch Of Ctar luxury_" her lazy spoiled brother started to say but Ximeng was not having it.

"No." she said sternly and coldly. "I will not let you rot what I have built with my blood and sweat. You wanted Ctar fashions, you can have it. If you dare to touch the luxury business, I will kill you in your sleep, if you think I am joking try me and you will be knocking on hell’s door the before morning comes."

Ximeng stood up and carried her peanuts, not even allowing her father to touch them. They had been munching on them together and now he was grabbing air.

He helplessly watched as Ximeng walked away with furious steps and he sighed.

"Why does my daughter have such a rotten temper?" he asked loudly.

"Because he is an idiot." the older brother Chian Yuxuan replied and he wheeled himself away from the living room.

"Father, look at how they are treating me." Chian Guang said.

"Stay out of your sister’s business." his father said.

Chian Guang had somehow gone askew, when Chian Yuxuan his older brother got into a car accident that left him paralyzed, Guang started acting as if he was naturally the next heir of the Chian family but now, his sister was making heads turn with her accomplishments and he was panicking. The board of directors was even talking about making Ximeng senior vice president of Ctar fashions which made him more desperate.

Chain Guang left the living room furiously and he went to make a phone call, a plea for help to stop his sister from threatening his position.

Back to the venue, the reporter caught up with Chi Lian and Muyang. It was expected of her to give her a small interview so she smiled at the camera.

"Miss Chi you look so lovely tonight, both you and your husband look so dashing. " the reporter said.

"Thank you, I was dressed by Chian Ximeng of Ctar luxury." She got a chance to promote and she took it.

"First of all, congratulations on winning big tonight, you received the newcomer award, how does that make you feel."

"Great, I feel great." Chi Lian answered and she laughed.

"Do you think you deserve the award? Out of all the people that were nominated, what makes you worthy of the award?"

The interview started off so well but it was taking a turn Muyang did not like and he frowned. What kind of question was "what makes you worthy of the award?" It was a trap, any answer she gave would make it seem like the others were failing in that department. If she said she worked hard, did that mean the other business men and women who were nominated were lazy? She was pitting his wife against the others, creating enemies for her.

"Mmm, if you think what I have done is not deserving, why don’t you attempt it and see if you will be where I am in a year and a half." Chi Lian replied.

"Smart." the old madam nodded at home. "That’s my Chi-Chi, my baby is excellent."

Mama Chi gave the old madam a side eye and thought, ’You mean my Chi-Chi and my baby."

The reporter frowned but it was slight that not many noticed, but the couple saw it. The reporter it seemed, was trying to make things difficult for her.

"I am sure you saw the news today Miss Chi, a young man deliberately injured his leg so that he could be fitted with your fancy prosthetics created in the Scientific park, do you still intend to peddle these harmful products to the world?"

Chi Lian rolled her eyes, and hesitated ever so slightly to make the reporter believe that she had trapped her.

The reporter smiled slyly and said, "You must have nothing to say_"

"I do, I must say that you are unprofessional because this question is unrelated to the events of tonight. If you worked for phoenix Tv I would fire you on the spot. What that young man did was foolish and I recommend that he receive some counselling and speaks to professionals that might help him. Prosthetics are for the helpless people in the world who have dreams to be normal like everyone else in our society. Pear Scientific park has launched an operation with the people’s memorial hospital and many other hospitals in this empire and other nations to provide these high quality prosthetics at a very low cost to former soldiers that were injured in battle. The waiting list for those who have applied so far is currently at six thousand and growing. So, yes, I will continue peddling hope and a chance at normalcy to those who need it the most in the world. I think I have answered enough of your questions tonight, thank you."

She led Muyang away by hand and they found their seats. She would not be speaking to anymore press for the night.

"You handled that wonderfully." Muyang whispered to her.

"She is an amateur, her tricks were written all over her face but trying to trick me is useless, I am smart like a fox." she laughed.

"Do you want me to look into it?" T4 asked her.

"Yes." she replied. "Let’s make some points too.

The mighty little peep star: [Oh snap! Is the reporter really simply doing her job?]

A video of the interview was attached.
