Chapter 492: Vroom Vroom
After a long hard day’s work, Chi Lian returned home with the children after passing by the Phoenix bakery to buy two soft green apple cakes for desert. One she had old tiger send to her family and she went home with the other.
She found the old madam waiting for her in the living room. With a beaming smile she took the her bag and the cake box away from her while the nannies took the children away to be bathed.
"Were you bored without us grandma?" Chi Lian asked the old madam.
"So much," the old madam replied, "I went with the ladies of the high tea society to plant some flowers at a sanatorium. We were all depressed when we returned and not even my little pipi could cheer me up." Little Pipi was the name of the kitten she got from Pearl’s litter. The old madam treated her kitten the way Qi Lele’s brother treated lucifer. It was groomed, bathed, massaged regularly and it had the most beautiful accessories which were also quite expensive.
The old madam did not segregate however because for every gift she bought Pipi, the other pets in the house got snacks.
"I will leave the children home tomorrow grandmother, I have a meeting with president Qin after all and it might run late. I think I might be home late too."
"Don’t worry I will be very happy to take care of them. I will take them for their swimming lessons and then a play ground later. You are a business woman dear, I know that you do your best for the children. Some working women completely leave their children under the care of nannies. Go and take a shower, I will send someone to call you down for dinner later."
"Grandma is Muyang back?" She asked.
"Not yet, but he will be home soon I reckon, ever since the two of you got married he comes home early. He even grades papers from home now, once upon a time he would opt to sleep at the university. They provide the professors with accommodation you know."
"I will wait for him in the room, if you need anything grandma feel free to knock on my door." she smiled and she walked up the stirs slowly.
"Oh, Chi-Chi," the old madam called her, "Feng Wu the one that takes care of the animals left a message for you at around three p.m. He said that I should inform you that Apple had her foal."
"Really?" Chi Lian asked in shock. The long awaited foal had finally been born, the one more than one person had offered her money for.
"Yes, really. He said that he went to have lunch and when he return around an hour later Apple had the foal. It’s a female, very healthy according to the vet, tell me when you are going to visit so that we go together. I also want to take a look. I am sure the children too will want to see it too, in all my years on earth I have never actually seen a new born foal, not with my two eyes anyway."
If the old madam did not mention this then she would have gone running on her own to see the foal. Indeed, it would be better to take the children along as well.
"Can we go after I have my bath?" she turned around and asked.
"Okay, let me freshen up as well since I will be going to the in-laws house.’’ The old madam never left the house looking anything other than perfect and elegant.
Chi Lian took an hour long bath, and when she got out of the tab, she called Muyang because he was not yet home.
"Hubby," he said when he picked up, "You are not yet home, should I come and pick you up?"
"I am out with your brother and father, we are having an early dinner. Sorry, I forgot to tell you about it." Muyang replied.
"Oh, you took my father out for dinner, he must be happy." she said obviously very surprised. He did not even tell her that he was doing it.
"He is my father-in-law but I don’t spend a lot of time with him. I usually only see him when we go and visit together."
"Then have fun, we are going to visit my home because my horse put to birth, a baby girl."
"A female foal." he corrected her.
"What’s the difference?" she mumbled.
"Father-in-law is calling for me, I will see you when I return."
"Bye-Bye," she said and she hung up.
She dressed up and went downstairs only to find the old madam and the children already waiting for her.
"Did I keep you waiting for so long? Sorry, I was on the phone with Muyang. He will not be home for dinner, he is eating with my father." she explained to the old madam.
"Mummy up." Mei-Mei raised her hands.
When she was carried she started playing with Chi Lian’s hair, trying to take out the hair pins and put them in her own hair.
"Should we walk or take a car?" the old madam asked Chi Lian.
"Car, with little children you never know what could happen on the way." she suggested.
The old madam giggled and she took Rose and little monk’s hands.
"Why are you laughing grandma?" Chi Lian asked.
"Because you are trying to hard hide it but I can see that you want to go and return quickly so that you dig into that green apple cake. The disadvantage of having those cute big eyes of yours is that they give you away when you want something, especially food."
Chi Lian too laughed, having been caught red handed in her small lie. "I am just really hungry grandma." she whined.
"We will not spend more than twenty minutes, I told the chef to prepare some ginger and clam soup, you will love it."
All the old madam’s words did was make her even hungrier so when they got to her family’s house and no member of the family was around, she knew that she would be having her meal sooner rather than later. Although, she did wonder where her mother was?
"Young miss," Feng Wu waved at her, "Over here, the foal is here."
They all walked in that direction and found Apple’s new born foal suckling on milk clumsily. It was a small tiny white thing, that resembled it’s mother. It’s face was mostly hidden within Apple’s legs so she could not take a picture of the face. Chi Lian took a picture from the side angle.
@Official Lady Chi: [My baby Apple had her baby Little Apple. Thank you @Special pet shop vet Ru Rong-Hao, for all your help.]
It was important for her to give credit where it was due and promote the business of the vet who had been more than caring to the horse during this time. He even checked in when he was not being paid and usually sifted through Apple’s food to make sure the quality was excellent.
"Miss this is the list of foods that the vet said Apple should eat the most, roasted soybean meal, amino acid supplements, clover hay, water, wheat or rice bran, beet pulp. He said that the special pet shop has some food that can be used to supplement her diet."
"Buy everything, talk to the butler, get my Apple everything that she needs." Chi Lian was not one to hold back. Whatever the vet said Apple needed, she would get.
King came by to poke around for snacks and when he got what he wanted he walked away, returning outside to continue his walk.
"That horse thinks you are it’s personal food carrier." the old madam shook his head.
"He is very friendly boss," Feng Wu told her, "He usually walks around with Pearl on his back. I used to worry at first that she would scratch him but she doesn’t. I have pictures on my phone, do you want to see?"
Of course Chi Lian wanted to see this, perks of owning cute animals was to see them doing cute things.
"Mummy, horsey." Mei-Mei said. She was pointing to the little foal.
"Yes." Chi Lian replied.
"Vroom Vroom." Mei-Mei said.
"No." Chi Lian replied. Mei-Mei was asking if she could ride the little horse. It was Ringo that taught her to associate Vroom vroom with horses and cars. Every time Mei-Mei saw a car she would say vroom vroom, meaning she wanted to go for a ride.
"Vroom vroom, mummy, vroom vroom." Mei-Mei said insistently.
"I think it’s time to go." The old madam picked her up.
