Chapter 436: Chi Lian is a daddy’s girl
For some reason, the more she run the faster she felt the urge to speed up and within two minutes, she was at the Jun mansion. Into the living room she went, with the excitement of a child that had missed their parents desperately.
"Mother." she called.
She saw her parents, her brothers and grandparents all sitting in the living room.
"Mother," she called again, "You and father are back." she said happily as she run into her mother’s arms.
"My baby." Mama Chi said and she hugged Chi Lian back tightly. "I have missed you so much, how could you not call me at all when I was gone?"
"I wanted you to have some fun, I sent a daily picture of myself to assure you that I was okay. You were supposed to do the same. Why didn’t you?"
"I didn’t want you to miss me too much." Mama Chi replied. "I sent a daily picture to your oldest brother, have you lost weight? You seem to be smaller than when I left."
"How could I eat comfortably when I was missing you so much?" Chi Lian whined.
Mother and daughter were embracing as if they had been separated for decades. Nobody in the living room found this to be inappropriate however, they found it to be quite sweet.
"Where is my hug?" Papa Chi asked Chi Lian.
She squealed joyfully, almost bouncing off of the floor as she left her mother’s embrace and leaped into her father’s arms. "I missed you so much dad, I missed you so very much." she said childishly.
"I missed you too my dear, I almost ended the vacation because I missed you so much." he said.
She giggled because there was no way her mother would have let him do that.
"I was also worried that your brother would blow up the building with his research and experiments. All your little gadgets are turning him into a mad scientist."
Chi Lian laughed loudly and heartily, she was so happy that she was laughing with her eyes closed. Occasionally her father said something that would come across as funny. Anybody that knew papa Chi would tell you that he was the most boring and unfunny man they had ever met.
He did not know how to crack jokes, he was not the greatest conversationalist and he preferred to listen more than talk. But to her, he was the best and funniest father in the world. His unfunny jokes made her happy in many ways.
"Dad, did you bring me anything?" she asked him.
"I brought you everything." Papa Chi replied.
Chi Lian squealed pulled out of her father’s arms and looked around for the gifts.
The old madam whispered to Muyang, "You didn’t tell me that your wife was a daddy’s girl. He must raised her like a very precious flower for them to be that close. Didn’t he make any threats when he first met you after you?"
Muyang thought back to the glares papa Chi often shot him during his visits to their family in B city back then.
"No, he loved me right from the beginning."
"Even though you got his daughter pregnant before marriage?" the old madam questioned.
"I am a lovable son-in-law." Muyang deadpanned. He looked extremely proud and a total believer in his own words.
"Why do I bother at all? Sometimes I just want to crack your head open and see what’s inside it." The old madam sighed.
Madam An stealthily tapped Chi Lian on the back and shook her head. Chi Lian who was opening presents relaxed and sat down gently in a chair.
"Grandma, grandpa, good evening evening." she obediently greeted them. Then she turned around and went around giving her greetings to everyone else.
Her grandmother An was watching her sternly like a hawk. She could only sit back and wait for the gifts to be handed to her by her parents.
"This is a magical bell, I got it from a psychic in Rome. She said that when you have bad dreams you can ring the bell three times to chase away evil. I brought one for everyone."
Chi Wei snorted, Chi Lian rolled her eyes and Chi Rui chortled. If the bell really had magic it would be cheap and common. Their mother had been fooled one hundred percent.
Chi Lian despite knowing this cuddled the tiny bell in her hands as if it was so precious.
"Thank you mother, I will carry it everywhere with me."
The other bells were distributed and even though they were all filled with doubts, they accepted them and thanked mama Chi for her consideration.
Chi Wei was thinking that it would have been better if his mother brought dream catchers instead.
"We also brought snow globes with replicas of the Vatican, oh and we brought real Italian authentic pasta and sauce. We brought enough for everyone, the chefs can prepare it for you to taste." Papa Chi said cheerfully.
"He would have brought back the pizza if he could." Mama Chi said and everyone laughed.
"It was authentic." Papa Chi mumbled.
Mama Chi clapped her hands three times, "Who is ready for some authentic Italian clothing, we brought suits, shoes, sweaters, even jewelry."
The guards wheeled in two large suitcases filled with more goodies.
"Did they go for shopping or sightseeing?" Chi Zimo asked Chi Rui.
While all this was happening, the shop owner that Chi Lian had left behind and advised to pack up everything was discussing this with his family.
His name was Mo Rang, when he returned home with injuries on his face his wife and children automatically knew what happened. She was terrified and their daughters who were sixteen and twelve started to cry.
"Honey, don’t worry I have a plan, something amazing happened at work today." he assured his wife. "This big client came in and bought all of my stock. She paid for everything and we have enough money to pay off our debt now. Our debt is two million and the client paid over six million." He sighed and said sadly "Who knew that a debt of two hundred thousand could turn into two million, those crooked bastards, I hope they rot in hell."
"Do you really have the money?" his wife asked.
"Yes." he showed her his account balance on the phone.
"But they will not leave us alone since two of their men were arrested because of me. The client called the police when she found them beating me up that’s why I told you to pack up everything."
They had a knock on the door and fear instantly became their their companion. This is how they had been living, every knock on their door would send them into a panic.
"Hide in the room with the girls." Mo Rang said quickly and he picked up the baseball bat hidden among the umbrellas in a coatrack next to the door. "If you hear anything shattering, call the police."
Another knock on the door was heard and someone outside said "It’s the movers, is anyone home?"
Mo Rang’s wife looked at him questioningly. This had to be the wrong address she thought.
Mo Rang peeped through the window and confirmed that it truly was the movers. "Honey, I am going to send you and the children to the cold town for safety. I will join you tomorrow."
