Chapter 356: So called Angel Yan Daya

Chapter 356: So called Angel Yan Daya

Her words were a shock to all those in the room, all conversation and gushing over the beauty of the items they had acquired came to a standstill.

"Chi-Chi, what are you talking about?" old madam Jun who was the closest to the painting asked. She grabbed the painting and placed it on the table for an up-close view.

"This is not the real lotus blessing, it’s a fake." Chi Lian declared with certainty which befuddled everyone because she was not knowledgeable about paintings. Grandma An could confirm this because she was Chi Lian’s self-appointed art teacher.

"Chi-Chi an accusation like this will paint the Danzhi gallery in a negative light, I think we should talk to the proprietor first and have the painting examined again before jumping to conclusions." Grandma An as the voice of reason stepped in and offered a more suitable alternative.

"I believe Chi-Chi; if she says its fake then the painting is fake." Muyang declared. He then turned to Ringo and told him, "Tell all the available guards to seal every entrance; nobody should leave before we find the painting."

Ringo did not question Muyang, he just did as his brother desired.

"You, lead us to the security room, we want to view the footage from the place where the auctioned items were placed before being brought here. And get your boss on the phone because I for one want to know how you sold us a fake painting." Muyang ordered the attendant.

"Wait, we should do things properly one step at a time." Grandma An suggested hurriedly.

"Grandma there is no time to take things one step at a time, the thief could be escaping or preparing to escape as we speak." Chi Lian said unhappily.

She was really angry, if she had known that things would come to this, she would have snuck in and just stolen the painting. All she wanted was the memory card in the frame and she would not be leaving without it.

"T4, is the painting still here?"

"According to the footage I have accessed, the painting was removed by a chubby man who is making his way to the fourth private booth right now. He is delivering the items which were they won, I think the painting is among those items."

She was relieved to know that it was still close enough for her to retrieve. These people must have assumed that whoever bought the lotus blessing would not know the difference so they could eat from both ends by selling both the original and the copy.

She did not want to waste time going all around to check the security footage because the thief would notice so she directly asked the attendant, "Who is in charge of securing the items before they are delivered to the winners?"

"Uhm, manager Shao is in charge of them." She responded nervously. "But he would never do anything like swapping a painting, he would lose his job."

"Where is he right now?" Chi Lian asked her, ignoring all of her defenses of manager Shao.

She made a call and then she said, "He is delivering items to another private guest right now..."

"Take us there." She ordered the attendant before the woman could even finish talking.

"Chi-Chi, aren’t you being too rush, we don’t even know who is in that booth. We should move carefully right now." Her grandmother cautioned her.

While she could see the worry on the old woman’s face, Chi Lian knew that her grandmother did not understand her desperation.

"Grandmother, we are just going to talk to the manager, we are not doing anything else. I will go with Muyang and take a look. Everyone should stay here and wait patiently."

"I will go and take a look at their footage." Ringo said. "Staying here and waiting is not the way I do things, I am a man of action."

He left with them and went a separate way while Chi Lian and Muyang followed the attendant to private room number four with the fake painting in hand.

She said to Muyang, "The person in private room number four was our biggest competitor for the painting. Perhaps it has been delivered to them accidentally; we should insist on going inside to take a look. If they are immovable, we can threaten to call the police."

The attendant must have informed the auctioneer because he hurriedly approached them along with a young woman and an elderly gentleman.

"Young master Jun," the woman who came with the auctioneer spoke, "I believe that this is a mistake, the Danzhi gallery does not conduct business this way." She desperately explained. "I have come with master Murong; he can examine the painting and reassure you of its authenticity."

Chi Lian scoffed and replied, "Do you really think we are here because of mere doubts? The blessing lotus was painted in a unique way; seven of the little lotuses at the bottom of the mother lotus were drawn to create an illusion of the face of a Buddhist monk. The idiot who painted this must not have known because they painted six lotuses.

The last lotus is hidden within another one so only someone who has spent days or months will see it or understand what it means."

She thrust the painting at master Murong who was looking at her with shock.

"I want an explanation for this fraudulence or the story will hit the news tomorrow." Chi Lian threatened.

"Open the door or I break it down." Muyang ordered the attendant.

The attendant looked at the young woman who wore a helpless expression on her face. The young woman nodded and the attendant slid the door open.

The occupants of the room where quick to look up but not quick enough to hide the obvious painting spread out on the table.

Manager Shao frowned at the attendant and shouted at her, "What are you doing, get out."

Muyang and Chi Lian stepped into the room, her with a justified look on her face and him with an expression of disbelief.

"Yan Fen," Muyang called a name and scoffed.

There were three occupants of the room around the table, a young man and two young women. The young man must have been Yan Fen because he responded to Muyang, "Young master Jun, it’s good to see you."

"Muyang," one of the young women at the table stood up and said his name softly.

Chi Lian looked at her, she was beautiful, extremely beautiful with a tiny pale face. Her eyes were hypnotic and her nose small and sharp.

She had seen this woman before, Yan Daya the so called Angel and most beautiful, kind and charitable young woman in the empire.

She had that beauty which story writers said men would go to war over.

The way she was looking at Muyang and calling his name softly was the only information Chi Lian needed to know about her.

Chi Lian did not want to spend a second more than desired around this woman.

Angrily, she moved to the table and grabbed the painting and said coldly, "I believe this is my property, next time you want to steal from me, do some research first because I am not in the business of forgiving my enemies."

"We didn’t steal it." Yan Feng said.

She looked at him disdainfully; did she think her a fool? So he was just admiring a painting which he knew had been bought by someone else?

"Muyang, let’s go home." Chi Lian said in an unhappy voice grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the room before Yan Daya could begin crying or attempting to pitifully express herself before Muyang.

She was sure that Danzhi gallery would deal with the aftermath; she had what she had come here for.
