Chapter 317: Betrayal in the family [3]

She was not as forgiving as mama Chi nor did she hesitate like Chi Lian. An Nuo had ordered for the Li family to be rounded up and beaten up ruthlessly. When she heard that mama Chi’s leg was still healing from a limp because the wicked woman who raised her had beaten her up recently, she told Caizu to do to the same to her.

If her daughter was limping, this old woman would limp too. They were lucky that she had not yet seen any visible scars on her daughter’s body otherwise they would have been given scars to match.

"Do you recognize the old woman Jie? She is the one who you handed my daughter to all those years ago." Madam An said slowly as she wheeled herself closer to Wang Jie.

Wang Jie continued staring at the ground, acting as if she could not hear a word that was being said.

"Look at her." Madam An barked.

Those who had never seen the matriarch so angry were taken aback. Some of them who knew that she was hot tempered were not surprised. It was the death of her daughter that mellowed her out otherwise; she used to be a very tough woman.

Wang Jie flinched and looked up slowly, her eyes moved to the old woman who had been forced onto her knees and she said, "I don’t know who that is."

Piak! Madam An slapped Wang Jie unexpectedly.

"Ho!" someone said.

"Oh my God." Someone else gasped.

"The hot tempered queen is back." Someone else said.

Wang Jie held her cheek and looked at An Nuo in disbelief. "Brother, your wife just slapped me." She said in a teary voice. "Do you have to humiliate me like this?"

"Yes brother-in-law, you are going too far." Chu Hong added and he reached out to hold his wife.

Old master Wang stared at his sister coldly and said, "If I were Nuo, I would do worse to you right now Jie. While you went on to live a wealthy happy life with your husband and children, did it ever cross your mind what kind of people you had given our daughter to?

Do you know what kind of life she lived? Do you know what kind of ruthless vicious monsters you placed her with?" His voice was rising with each question.

Wang Siming, Wang Cang and Wang Xue who were madam An’s other children were teary eyed and angry. The child in question was their youngest sister and hearing their father say that she had lived a hard life was very painful.

Wang Xie in particular was already crying as she imagined all the terrible things her sister experienced.

"Stop it." Wang Jie suddenly shouted. "Why should I care about what your child went through?" Wang Jie smiled maliciously after asking that question.

"Wang Jie." Madam An shouted angrily.

"What?" Wang Jie shouted back and looked at Madam An. "You cripple. What will you do to me An Nuo?" She asked with an ugly sneer on her face.

A stunned silence ensued in the house. Nobody had ever called madam An a cripple before, the suspense over what was going to happen next was communal.

"Cripple," Madam An said in disbelief.

"Wang Jie." Old master Wang screamed furiously.

Wang Jie as if emboldened by a hidden advantage over all of them got onto her feet and laughed. "What, elder brother, what are you mad about? Is it because I gave your own child away that you are so furious?" she was speaking as if she had given out a sweet and not a child.

"You crazy bitch!" Madam An said and scoffed over the ridiculousness that was playing out before her very eyes.

"An Nuo, have you forgotten the events that led to the death of my own child?" Wang Jie asked.

"What do I have to do with the death of your child Jie?" Madam An asked.

"Two days before my child died in the womb, I came to visit you in this house. We were in your bedroom when you said you were craving peaches so I went downstairs to bring you peaches from the kitchen. On my way back, I slid and fell down on the stairs stomach first. I felt a slight pain but I ignored it and brought you the peaches anyway. Later that night, the pain in my stomach increased; the next day it got worse and worse until eventually I was taken to a hospital only for a doctor to tell me that my child was dead."

Staring viciously at An Nuo, Wang Jie said, "It was your fault that my child died. If you did not crave for peaches, I would not have fallen on the stairs and my child would not have died."

The Wang’s who were shocked were listening fervently as if what they were watching was an idol drama and not the tragic beginning of the terrible events in their family.

Madam An laughed and looked at Wang Jie with mockery in her eyes. "Is that why you plotted my accident, because you wanted to make sure that my child and I died?"

Wang Jie replied, "You caused the death of my child and yet you continued to live happily. With my child out of the way, your child would inherit all the shares which rightfully belonged to mine. Why should I allow that to happen? Why did your child deserve to live while mine died?" she shrieked her words out like a crazy woman.

"Jie, stop talking." Wang Ailun said desperately. He did not want to believe that the little adorable girl that grew up with him was capable of such evil.

She was admitting to having committed a whole bunch of crimes like murder because the driver of the car died in the accident. Attempted murder since An Nuo managed to survive, child trafficking and child endangerment.

All these crimes would mean life in prison or capital punishment.

"No, she should keep going." Old master Wang said, "She should explain her reasoning back then because some of you wanted answers for her wickedness."

"It’s not wickedness, its justice." Wang Jie shouted.

Madam An laughed dryly and clenched her fists because all she wanted to do was wring Wang Jie’s neck.

"No, Jie," Madam An said, " its greed plain and simple. You wanted the shares to elevate your status in the Chu family so you chose to sacrifice me and my daughter to reach your goal. I never sent you to get me peaches in the first place, I sent my maid Danda. You said you wanted some as well and you followed Danda out of the room.

If you fell down, it had nothing to do with me. I never had a hand in the death of your child, you just needed someone to blame so you latched onto me. Better still, you needed a reason to justify your greed for the shares so you latched onto me, blaming me for the death of your child so that would not feel guilty for what you planned to do. Stop being delusional and claiming your justice bullshit because you are nothing more than a criminal, a murderer."
