Chapter 312: Conclusion of Hian’s interview[2]

"Even then, the message will have been sent however small it is. If his family is clever, they will keep him out of this empire for the rest of his life.

Rize:" We are back from that short commercial break. Like I said, we are coming to the conclusion of this long interview. I am sure that there are some questions we have left unanswered but hopefully we have satisfied about ninety percent of your curiosities. There have been so many questions like where is she? Did she cheat? Did she deserve to be cheated on?

What do you have to say about the cheating allegations your husband made against you, including the claims that your child is not his?"

Hian: [laughs], "Those allegations are false and he knows it. He is the one who cheated during the course of our marriage, I was very faithful. If it’s a DNA test he wants I am very willing to assent to it. I have nothing to hide."

Audience: Claps loudly.

Rize: "I love the confidence in your voice. Now that you are back in the lime light Hian, what’s the new plan?"

Hian: "First of all I pressed charges against my husband who I hope will soon be my ex-husband with the police for assault and battery.

Secondly, I filed for divorce and I am hoping that the case will be settled as soon as possible because I don’t want to be tied to that man anymore.

Thirdly, with the help of all phoenix companies, I will be heading a charity organization and campaign against domestic violence. I think it’s very important to help women who are suffering under circumstances similar to mine. I am also including those who survived domestic violence but are still suffering from the trauma.

The charity will employ psychologists, safe houses; provide food and also other basic needs. We will also employ lawyers who will help such women and men because men can be victims too. The lawyers will help them fight their cases in court for free.

The website of the charity has already been set up and the offices will open next week in the Qindang building. If anybody wants to donate or volunteer please feel free to contact us."

Audience: Claps and cheers.

Rize: "That is amazing; we will all be cheering you in this endeavor. Does the charity have a name?"

Hian: "Hope, I am naming it after my own daughter Hope."

Rize: "Since you had retired do you have any plans of joining the entertainment industry again?"

Hian: "Absolutely."

Audience: Claps and cheers joyfully with a mixture of screams.

Rize: "And there you have it, the golden haired gorgeous actress will be returning to our screens, now to share that picture of baby Hope as promised."

On the screen, a picture of a baby with golden curly hair was shown and the audience cheered.

Rize: "Now one last question Hian, with everything that has happened to you, do you regret meeting him? Do you wish that you could take it all back?"

Hian: "I regret a lot of things but the one thing I do not regret is my daughter Hope. She is the only good thing that has happened to me this year and I am so thankful for her."

Audience: Cheers loudly.

Rize: Thank you so much Hian for sharing your story with us. We hope it can inspire others to break free from their own prisons. The number on the screen below is for the national prevention of domestic violence hotline. If you know anybody living under such circumstances, share the number and encourage them to seek help.

The number will be on be on this program for an entire week so that anybody that needs it can find it at any time.

I would like to thank our live audience which came out to support Hian, you guys are the best."

Audience: "Woooo" and a lot of clapping.

Rize: "And as a small reward because it’s Christmas, we have prepared some goodie bags for you all to take home as you leave."

Audience: More clapping and cheers.

Rize: "As always, I am your host the people’s beloved princes Rize. Let’s give a final round of applause to Hian."

The interview was concluded with a hug between Hian and Rize as the house band played some cheerful music.

Chi Lian wanted to applaud and cheer, surely the ratings for tea with a princess would be really great. Both Rize and Hian had done an amazing job.

"That was wow." Muyang’s mother said.

"It was sad but an incredible story to hear." The old madam said, "I hope young girls out there will take this as a precautionary tale and be more careful when choosing husbands."

"Indeed, My Chi-Chi got lucky with Muyang." Mama Chi said with a proud smile on her face.

"Don’t worry in-law, if Muyang ever dares to try that nuisance I will deal with him ruthlessly." Muyang’s mother said.

The old madam’s face frowned, "What are you talking about Weili? I raised Muyang personally for a good number of years, I know his character well. He would never do such a thing." She said defensively.

"Mother, I didn’t mean to say that he would..." He Weili answered unhappily as if she had been wronged.

Mama Chi cleverly hanged changed the topic because the old madam did not want anyone talking ill about Muyang, not even hypothetically.

"Chi-Chi, why didn’t you tell us about the Hope charity organization? I want to make a donation and help in any way possible. I know what those women have gone through, in a way anyway." She said the last words softly.

She may not have been terrorized by a spouse but she was terrorized by a parent. She too had cried herself to bed many nights over the years.

She shivered a little in fright every time she saw a walking cane; it was her mother’s preferred choice of weapon in hitting her right from childhood.

Madam An who was sitting so close to Mama Chi heard her words and frowned.

"Your husband!!" she said in a horrified voice. "Does he beat you?"

"No," Mama Chi said hurriedly, "It was ..." she stopped talking. It crossed her mind that madam An was a stranger and there was no need to divulge her deepest pain to her. "Nobody, it’s nothing." She said dismissively.

"Mummy scritches." Mei-Mei said.

"Let’s go." Chi Lian took Mei-Mei’s hand so that they could go and scratch popcorn. It was now part of their routine after lunch. It was mostly Mei-Mei’s routine because Popcorn was usually close by when she ate her food. Once eating was finished, the little girl would play with and scratch the dog.

Still, Chi Lian was disturbed at the aspect of leaving her mother with madam An who looked determined to pry her secrets out of her.

"Mother, we should cut the cake and bring in some refreshments for everyone. There is eggnog, and freshly made snacks."

Mama Chi was all too happy to follow her. "I will go with you." She stood up eagerly and quickly left.
