Chapter 304: Terms and conditions apply

She excused herself and went outside to her car. If she was bringing in food supplies, it had to look as if she had already stored them somewhere and she was simply picking them up.

She visited the virtual farm with her consciousness, Tetris, the farm system was waiting for her.

"Hello little fairy." she tickled it’s nose.

"Hi-hi." Tetris giggled.

"Host I am here too." T4 interfered. "Come and look at the rice, it mutated in a weird way."

She followed the two to the now empty field, besides it were fifty bags of rice which were sealed. Other than those ones, one bag was open and she bent down slightly to look at the obviously fat grain yellow rice.

"Why is it yellow?" she asked. "Is it unhealthy or sick?"

"No," T4 answered, "It’s very healthy, I already sent some of it to Jaggert and he said it’s very sweet and nourishing."

She gave him a side eye, "I see that you are helping yourself to my property without asking."

"I was just helping you test the quality." T4 hurried to defend himself.

"Once a thief.....’ she said and left off.

"Humph." T4 responded.

"So, why is it yellow?" she asked once again.

"It’s the soil." Tetris said, "This normal soil was mixed with soil from the Spring mountains, since the water from there has nourishing qualities. This soil is different from that one." she pointed to the soil where soy beans were flourishing."

"So the rice is normal." she said.

"I wouldn’t say normal." T4 said. "It’s tastier, fatter and more nutritious. It also looks good on a plate."

"I will take twenty sacks, you sell these twenty and use ten to plant more." she told T4.

"Yes host"

"I also want soy beans, I should give my babies some soy milk today."

"Yes host."

Those things were packed away in a storage box.

She left the farm and checked her virtual screen to see what kind of mission she has been given. Hopefully it was not something life threatening like the last one.

Mission: Save Dai Zhangye from the cold prison.

Time limit: two weeks.

Failure: Your health will be reverted back to Fifty percent.

Reward: A butterfly aeroplane.

With this mission, even the reward was already named. And the punishment was to hold her life hostage.

"T4, I earned my health back by fulfilling a mission, isn’t it too much for you to use my health as a punishment again?"

She was extremely unhappy because the system was not playing fair. This is why she never wanted to accept it originally; she was a puppet on its strings sometimes. If she had not ended up in a body which was dying back then, she would have rejected it definitely.

"I don’t make the rules host." T4 replied.

"Who does? I want to talk to your manager." She demanded.

"Sorry host but the central system does not communicate with hosts. I can relay your message however I cannot guarantee that you will receive an answer which will make you happy."

She banged her head twice against the car seat and screamed.

The guards who were outside, walking by and monitoring could not help but peep and check to make sure that she was okay however the car had tinted windows so they could not clearly see inside.

One of them went on to knock on the window of the car and she lowered it.

"Miss, is everything fine?" he asked while he craned his neck to look around for any hidden threats inside the car.

"I am fine, I just received some bad news." She told him. "Go back to your duties." She ordered.

"Yes miss." He walked away while signaling to the others who had surrounded the car to back off.

She rolled the window back up and sighed. She had to take on the mission; she did not have much of a choice anyway.

"Who the hell is Dai Zhangye and why do I have to rescue him from the cold prison?" she asked.

"Host, please be aware that the system scans your world for anything that could help you level up, grow your wealth, increase your points and ensure your safety. Basing on those three factors, a mission is assigned. The system does not randomly come up with senseless missions so be focused because what’s good for you is good for the system. Remember that this is a symbiotic relationship host, if you thrive, I thrive."

T4’s words were a reminder to her that his energy depended on her success in everything. Still, she thought, using her health as a threat was too much.

"The punishment for failure has been changed host, you can check and see, I hope you will be happier with this one. " T4 said cheerfully.

Failure: You will become blind in one eye.

"Son of a bitch!!!!!" she cursed.

"Why are you unhappy?" T4 asked in a confused voice. "You got to keep your health at a hundred percent, you won." he finished his words cheerfully.

Chi Lian wanted to rip the system out of whatever place it was hiding in inside her mind and beat it up. How exactly had she won? Was being blind in one eye a victory?

"T4, how about I mess around with your settings and make you blind in one eye? Let’s see how much you like it?"

"It cannot be done host, as your pet I must always be healthy and good looking or I lose my charm." He replied.

"Stupid system." She cursed. So it could mess with her but she could not mess with it.

"Insulting the system is forbidden."

She mimicked his words right back at him childishly, "Insulting the system is forbidden."

One would think two children were having a fight with the way they were going at it.

"First warning host." T4 said unhappily.

"What will you do if I continue? You said that this is a symbiotic relationship." She retorted. The system needed her as much as she needed it.

Neither one of them could get rid of the other.

"If you make your pet unhappy you be shocked by fifty thousand volts of power. It won’t kill you but it will be very painful."

She was utterly dumbfounded. "You can’t do that, it’s not allowed."

"It was in the terms and conditions of accepting a pet system host. Why don’t humans ever read them?" T4 asked.

Chi Lian wanted to throw a tantrum like a child. Who read terms and conditions? They were long and the wording was tiny and she had been desperate when the system told her she was going to die. How could she read them in such a situation? She had simply agreed to everything.

She did not want to be shocked, so she surrendered.

"I accept the mission. However, until the mission is over, I am temporarily changing your body into that of a piglet. As the owner of the pet, I can temporarily change my pet of choice as a trial."

Quickly, she tapped the change pet appearance setting before T4 could say anything. The adorable proud fox would soon be a little pink piglet.

"No, no, noooo" he wailed while she laughed.
