Chapter 279: Grandma Hian
Chapter 279: Grandma Hian
Chi Lian was racing against time itself to get to Hian. The woman had given her only one hour and so far, ten minutes were gone because she had to stop, duck into a public restroom and disguise herself.
This new disguise was a rush job, she looked like a young nineteen or twenty year old girl with short cropped hair like that of a young boy. In her ears were black studs and on her feet were black suede boots. She threw on a black jacket, walked to the parking structure where T4 had delivered her motorcycle mysteriously and set off.
If anybody saw her, they would assume that she was a punk, a rich young punk who enjoyed dressing up like a tom boy.
The royal kitchen had its main branch in the capital and that’s where she was heading. Chi Lian could not imagine how Hian had managed to get into the royal kitchen without being noticed by anyone. She was quite literally a most wanted woman in the empire.
How good were Hian’s hiding skills? She was like a fully trained spy to be able to avoid even T4’s thorough surveillance up to now.
"Host, the drone is in place and it’s currently scanning so if she is here I will know within a minute."
"Not just her, scan everyone and everything around the restaurant including cars which are parked nearby. She may not be inside but outside watching and waiting." She told T4 loudly in her mind.
"You don’t have to shout." T4 replied and he pretentiously cleared wax out of his ear.
Chi Lian resisted the urge to act embarrassed. She had not shouted deliberately, it’s just that the wind was so loud as it brushed past her due to the speed at which she was going.
"She is not inside the restaurant; I am hacking into the phone records of the phone which she used to send the message." T4 announced.
Chi Lian could hear these clicking and other loud noises in the background, as if T4 was typing and talking to her from a network operation call center.
"Are you...." she wanted to ask if he had hijacked a whole call center. This was a simple find Hian to get point’s mission not save the city from an explosion.
"Yes host."
"Never mind." She said.
She was five minutes away from the royal kitchen and she made her mind up to stop. At this point, neither she nor Hian knew what the other looked like. Rather than rush in blindly, she preferred to go into the unknown situation calmly.
"Host why are you stopping?" her actions piqued T4’s interest.
She took her phone out of her pocket, took off the glove on her hand and sent out a text.
"There is an easier way to find her if she is here, follow the message I have sent." She told T4.
The internet was his domain; following that text to its intended receiver would be a piece of cake for the system.
Her phone dinged with a notification.
"Found her." T4 jovially announced as he jumped around n the virtual screen from one end to another.
"Finally." Chi Lian mumbled.
T4 wanted to defend himself immediately. It was not his fault that he had been delayed in finding her, who knew that the actress was good at disguising herself.
"Host, I was looking for a young woman not an old grandmother that is sitting along the curb in the cold weather."
Chi Lian’s eyes spun in the direction of the old grandmother that T4 had just mentioned. The old woman was drinking sitting next to an old wooden cart piled up with empty bottles. She was drinking the last bit of juice out of a small bottle and even beating the bottle to exhaust every drop from what looked to be an already empty juice bottle.
Anybody that saw the old woman would feel sorry for her. She was quite a pathetic sight to observe on this cold snowing day.
"Are you telling me that Hian has disguised herself as that old grandma?" Chi Lian could not hide the wonder in her voice.
This was not just talent; it was something she could not describe. Her disguise was perfect because she was using alien technology but Hian was depending on ordinary human disguises to walk around in public without being recognized.
She walked straight in Hian’s direction with a focused mind. So many others walked by Hian, not even caring to look at her twice because of her appearance.
When she was close enough, she squatted down beside the old grandma and said, "Grandma if you are really hungry I can buy you some food. It’s very cold out tonight and the snow is heavy, you should not be out."
Grandma Hian looked at Chi Lian and snorted. She then went back to looking around aimlessly, ignoring the nosy little girl squatting next to her.
Not to be deterred, Chi Lian grabbed Hian’s arm persistently and said "Grandma, your family members will be worried if you keep this up, what if you fall sick? Come with me I will send you to a sauna for the night."
Chi Lian was insistently tugging at grandma Hian’s hand while the latter tried to take her hand back.
"Piss off." Grandma Hian hissed and shoved Chi Lian away. She was very much unimpressed and bothered by the young punk who could not mind her own business.
Chi Lian smiled slyly, grandma Hian had officially just given herself away. Which old woman had that much strength?
"Oh, grandma how strong you are, one would assume that you are you are a youth with all this vigorous energy you have."
Hian responded by glaring at Chi Lian unhappily and slowly scooting away from her at a snail’s pace as if she was trying to prove how old she was.
"Host are you done having fun and playing games?" T4 asked her with impatience ringing in his voice. The point obsessed system saw no need for all the ’grandma this, grandma that’ game. Hian had been identified; it was time to farm points.
Because T4 did not want her to play anymore, Chi Lian finally revealed herself to Hian. "Hey, grandma Hian, we should get down to business now, right?"
