Chapter 233: A little smart brat
Friday, the long awaited day finally reached. Chi Lian, Muyang and the kids along with some of their bodyguards and nannies were leaving for a much needed vacation and private family time.
With the way her mother had packed so many bags for her, one would think they were moving to another continent. She alone had three suitcases of clothes, jewelry, bags and cosmetics. The children had two bags each.
When Muyang showed up to pick them up, he had just one bag. It was half the size of one of her large sized bags.
"Where is your entire luggage?" she had asked him.
"This is it." He proudly pointed to the small suitcase in the boot of the car.
At that moment, she waited for him to say something cliché about women and packing too many things but he said nothing at all.
They got into the car and their families escorted them to a private airfield where the Jun family private plane was. After so many heart felt goodbyes, they finally entered the plane and flew off.
"Oh, I need a vacation too." Chi Zimo whined as he watched enviously as the plane took off into the skies.
Chi Wei and Chi Rui could not help looking at their silly little brother ambiguously.
"Do you realize that you are the only one in the family who does not work?" Chi Wei asked him.
"So?" Chi Zimo answered with a stubborn attitude.
"So why do you need a vacation?" Chi Rui stepped in for their elder brother this time.
Chi Zimo pouted just before he asked them, "So students don’t need vacations? If that was the case no such thing as holidays would exist."
He was right, they all knew it. Students needed a break every now and then from their books, vacations were not just for those who had jobs. But rather than admit it, the two brothers looked away from him and marched to their cars. Chi Rui made sure to ’humph’ before leaving.
"Don’t worry," the old madam told Chi Zimo, "Grandmother will send you send you to the Spanish or Roman Empire for a holiday in the summer next year."
Chi Zimo quickly wheedled childishly and held the old madam’s hand. "Grandma, I knew you loved me most in the family."
After saying that he wiped fake tears from the corner of his eyes and smiled at the old madam appreciatively, "Grandma, you are the coolest person in this entire family. But don’t tell my sister I said that, she will be jealous." He whispered.
The old madam laughed indulgently and walked together with her most adorable grandson as she liked to call Chi Zimo.
Up in the air, Chi Lian was in the bedroom on the plane talking to Piggy and Squirrel on her laptop through a video call. The two were updating on their moves and next movements.
"When are you returning to the city, I have left behind a lot of tasks for you both to accomplish?" she asked them slowly.
"Today boss, yesterday I came up with a different plan." Piggy answered. "You said those people were after the little master so when I saw a little beggar boy on the street, I brought him with me to confuse them."
Piggy and Squirrel were in the car, her range rover just beginning their journey back to the city. Piggy turned the phone around and showed her the little well-dressed handsome boy who had dark hair and very dark eyes. He looked to be around three or four years, just slightly older than little monk.
"Piggy, won’t the police come looking for you? You can’t just pick up a kid from the street and take him with you, especially one that handsome looking."
To her, it seemed like Piggy was just setting himself up to be charged for the kidnapping of a minor. What if that kid had relatives? Who in the world abandoned such a cute kid?
"Boss, you underestimate me. I got some of the locals drunk and they gladly told me about the boy. He is one of the children who lost their families after the last plantation fires two years ago. He was taken to an orphanage but he kept fighting and running away and coming to the street. Anyway, I took pity on him and asked him why he preferred the street to an orphanage and he said they wouldn’t allow him to go to school when he was there. So I asked him to help me and I would help him in return.
I promised him that if he helped me accomplish my mission, I would send him to school. You won’t believe it boss but he asked me to draw up a contract with a witness.
The brat is sharper than he looks. What does a four year old know about contracts?" Piggy laughed amusingly.
"So, did you sign the contract?" She asked him, the little tale he narrated had managed to draw her in.
Were children that easily trusting and gullible? Adults were very cunning creatures; they said one thing and did another.
"They signed the contract boss," Squirrel’s amused voice came from the front as he was driving them. "The little brat even added a clause that if Piggy went back on his words, he had to pay him a fee of five hundred thousand.
You should have seen it boss, the little brat was so cunning and clever, he even made me take a picture of the contract and we went to a local office and notarized it. Mr. Retired detective was the witness to the whole thing."
Chi Lian guffawed at Squirrel’s words. This kid sounded impressive, she could picture him in her mind making all sorts of demands in his little childish voice.
"Anyway, boss I decided to take him in for you." Piggy stepped in and said, "When we were at the lawyer’s office, the little brat knew a lot of lawyer terms, articles and the like. He won’t say who his parents were but I think maybe one of them used to be a lawyer. Come to think of it, when I was fishing around for information, nobody mentioned who his actual parents were."
"Didn’t Detective Li Tao say anything or he doesn’t know as well?" she asked. It sounded to her like this little boy was well read. How did he end up alone on the streets begging if he came from a good background?
"Retired detective said it would be better for the kid to come with us than to live on the street. He said he won’t tell the police but he would be checking in occasionally to see how the little brat is fairing." Piggy told her.
"Host, do you want me to scan his brain when they get here?" T4 asked her before she could even consider it.
"Oh definitely." She agreed. "If he is as impressive as Piggy makes him sound, I want him to interact with little monk as much as possible, he could be the perfect friend for him."
"Host, do you think he has superior mental strength or an eidetic memory?"
"Hmm..." she answered thoughtfully. "I don’t know, but whatever he is, he sounds like an interesting little fellow." She answered sincerely.
She was genuinely curious and she could not wait to meet the little boy.
"By the way Piggy, what’s his name? You can’t keep calling him little brat?" she mentioned this because she wanted to say hello to him and she did not want to call him little brat as well.
"Fu Jui, boss, he said it was his name but he seemed to have hesitated for a bit and made it up when I asked for his name. That is the only personal detail I know about him, he wouldn’t say anything else." Piggy replied.
So he was smart and possibly changing or lying about his name. This could go either way, the presence of this boy could either be a threat or good thing for her!!
But if he was lying about his name, why was he doing so? She could not just plant him into her family or have him around her son without further investigation. People in this empire could experiment on genius children; she needed to be sure that he was not a baby spy or something.
"T4, do you have truth serum?"
