Chapter 170: He protects her in the dark.

The old nanny that had been taking care of Muyang since his infant days was positively surprised. ’So the rumors are true.’ She thought. ’The young master does have a woman.’

Ever since she had been taking care of him, this was the first woman he had brought home. It meant he was serious about her. This was good news; hopefully the young master would marry soon.

"Do you need me to help her with her bath?" she offered gladly.

"No, nanny Fang, I will take care of that."

The nanny pulled air into her nose in shock. Not only did the young master have a woman but their relationship had also progressed to such an intimate level already.

As Muyang walked past the nanny and carried Chi Lian upstairs to his bedroom, she followed behind him. "Should I prepare some soup or sugar water for her?"

The nanny assumed Chi Lian was tired or suffering from menstrual cramps which could explain why Muyang was carrying her.

"No," he answered with a smile, "She is sleeping because she is a little bit drunk. Don’t worry; I will take care of her. Go to bed nanny."

"Okay then, goodnight. But you can call me if you need me, no matter what time of the night it is. "she said insistently before going back downstairs to her bedroom.

Muyang opened his bedroom door with one hand, entered and kicked the door shut with a bang.

"Noooo." Chi Lian whined sleepily in his arms. She stretched her arms and yawned like a cat.

He chuckled lightly and placed her on the bed carefully. Then he took off her shoes, coat and clothes. He dressed her in a large oversized shirt of his so that she could sleep comfortably. He stayed by her side for a while, just staring at her face appreciatively. She smacked her lips and chuckled which made him laugh and poke her forehead causing her to frown.

"Are you still dreaming about meat?" he asked with a slight laugh.

There was a soft knock on the door which prompted him to leave the bed and check who had come to disturb his tranquility. Could nanny Fang have prepared tea or soup and delivered it? She was a worrier; she was not the type to sleep without being fully satisfied that he was taken care of. She had been that way since his childhood because she partially raised him. When she asked to retire, he moved her into his house because she had no family and he treated her like a second mother.

Slowly, he opened the door with a slight frown and saw one of the guards standing there nervously.

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

"No master, I just brought the madam’s bag." The bodyguard answered and handed the small bag to Muyang before hurrying away.

Inside the bag, her phone was ringing persistently. Thankfully it was set to vibrate so the noise did not wake Chi Lian up.

Muyang took out the phone to switch it off or put it in airplane mode. But as soon as he touched it, the vibrating stopped. A message popped up on the screen, "We have him." It read.

He did not mean to read the message; his eyes were drawn to it naturally. He put the phone in silence, placed it back in the bag and put it on the table. In his mind however was a question, "who did they have and who were they?"

He took a quick shower in the bathroom and went to his office. He made a phone call and asked someone to come upstairs to his office. Shortly after that, a body guard with one missing thumb on his left hand showed up in the office and stood still.

"What did your madam do today? Did she do anything dangerous?"

The guard moved from his left foot to his right for comfort and then he said, "She stayed in the office all day, she did however meet with these six people. The girl in particular caught my attention. She looks suspiciously like the suspect you want in the shifter’s shooting. However we are not sure if it’s actually her." He presented a couple of photographs to Muyang of the six people Chi Lian met.

"Are any of these people a threat to her?" Muyang responded immediately with the only question that mattered to him.

The guard shook his head. "We are not quite sure yet sir, we don’t have the identities of these people but we are looking into it. One of the men did follow this group of people from a distance and they did something peculiar."

"Mmm." Muyang responded.

"They kept an eye on this building for a while, and then when night fell two of them infiltrated the building. They entered a women’s fertility clinic on the second floor. We don’t know what they did since our man couldn’t risk being seen but they did come out with a bag.

Two others got into this car stealthily and when this man entered he was forced to drive away. They found a place with no cameras, drugged him unconscious and drove to the catacombs. We lost them from there."

Muyang’s fingers drummed against the table as he always did when he was in deep in thought.

"You said they infiltrated a fertility clinic, took something out in a bag and then kidnapped a man."

"Yes sir." The guard nodded in acknowledgement of his words.

"Hmm," Muyang said in thought. ’That must be what the we have him text meant.’ The rest he could easily figure out easily on his own. She was looking for answers of her own and she had probably recruited some people to work for her.

"Do you have the identity of the man they kidnapped?"

"Yes, he is the doctor in charge of the clinic. He moved here from B city two years ago. He is single_"

Muyang cut him off him there. "Erase all traces of these people and create a trail which shows that the doctor is alive and on vacation somewhere. Investigate those new people around her discreetly. Continue keeping an eye on her and make sure that you protect her well."

"Yes young master."
