Chapter 148: Already making enemies
Chapter 148: Already making enemies
Chi Lian did not get to enjoy the stunning scenery of the capital from the start of the journey to the moment when arrived at the first check point granting them entrance to their new residence. She spent the whole journey with her eyes closed because she was tired, irritable, cynic and overly stretched thin.
The soldiers at the entrance were asking a variety of questions and she was doing her very best not to snap at them. Her head was lowered and she was rubbing the sides of her forehead with her thumbs. One soldier in particular was persistent and he sent the others away.
"Ma’am, we need to see legal documents for every human and pet in your entourage before granting you entrance." the soldier told her disdainfully.
"For the last time, the documents I have given you are the ones I was told to present. If you have any doubts please contact your boss for further information." She responded snappily. Minister Su had given her the documents to hand over at the entrance and she had done it so why the double checks and frustrations?
"Ma’am" the soldier said persistently. "I need to see_"
"Oh sweet Lord." She sighed. She was officially ready to turn back and head to B city.
"Chi-Chi, what’s wrong?" Chi Wei asked the minute he approached her. "Are you crying?" he was worried. Seeing how her head was lowered and her hands were covering her face he assumed immediately that she was crying.
She shook her head and smiled slightly with a hint of an unhappy frown, "It’s nothing," she said. "I just have a slight headache because of sleep deprivation."
"Ma’am, this is private property, you and your entourage should move your cars immediately." That same soldier insisted.
"Chi-Chi, why are we being denied entry, didn’t minister Su clear the path for us already?" Chi Wei was confused.
"He did." She replied assuredly. To Minister Su she was an asset, there was no way he would allow her to be treated so casually and disrespected. Something else was going on here. The soldier was looking at her sinisterly as if she had gravely offended him. But to her memory, this was the first time she was meeting him so why the sudden hostility?
"T4, can you check this soldier’s phone or records. Something is wrong."
It was not just Chi Wei that stepped out of the car, her parents and two brothers did the same. Everyone was tired, confused and stranded. She needed to hear from minister Su before making any decision.
"Host, in his phone is a picture of you and a text not to let you in because you are a mistress here to cause trouble."
"Huh." She thought. "I haven’t been in the capital for a day and I have already made enemies. Moreover, moving here is a top secret, not many people know about it. I guess my enemy should be within these walls." She reasoned.
"And it’s probably a woman because men don’t have time to accuse their enemies of being mistresses." T4 added to her reasoning.
The individual was doing this to humiliate her. Residence in the Emperors court could not be denied once it was given. This person must have known that eventually she would enter but the point at the moment was to humiliate her. Chi Lian was filled with rage and her fists clenched.
"Host, first gain entry and fight later, if a crowd gathers here your family will be humiliated." T4 suggested.
"Sir, if you won’t contact your superiors, then I will contact them for you." She brought her phone out of her pocket to make a phone call.
To her dismay, the soldier snatched the phone from her hand and smashed it on the ground. He went beyond that and stepped on it, proceeding to crush it.
"What the hell!" Chi Wei exclaimed in shock.
"Are you crazy?’ Chi Rui asked.
"I have told you, leave." The soldier barked at them loudly with a sneer on his face.
Chi Lian smirked. Did he think she could not contact the minister anymore just because he had broken her phone?
"T4, contact him."
T4 sent a 911 text to Minister Su and sent a video the drones had been recording. He was inside the residence at the moment and it would not take long for him to arrive.
"Sister, should we call Muyang?" Chi Zimo asked.
The Jun’s had arrived the day before with Mei-Mei and at the moment they were in their home waiting to welcome the Chis or helping them unpack because the two families were now very familiar with each other.
While Muyang was powerful enough to deal with the arrogant soldier, she did not want to go running to him at the sign of every little trouble. Especially here in the capital were a lot of people were rooting for her to fall.
"No, this needs the special handling of the person in charge of moving us from our home to this place." She looked at the soldier, smiled menacingly and said, "I want to see who is more powerful between my backer and yours."
She leaned back against her car and crossed her arms against her chest. If it took all day, she would wait out here and see how this play ended.
"Chi-Chi, what should we do?" her mother whispered worriedly next to her.
Before she could answer, a row of five expensive Bentleys drove past them speedily, the first one almost knocking into her.
"Hey," Chi Zimo shouted at them angrily. "What kind of mad driver are you, don’t you have eyes?"
"Chi-Chi, the capital is a place for mad people." Mama Chi whispered. How can someone almost knock you down and just keep going as if nothing happened?
Absolutely nothing had gone their way since they stepped in this place.
The last Bentley stopped and a window rolled down to show a young twenty something old man smiling arrogantly.
"Hey, peasants are not allowed in this place." He said to Chi Zimo.
Chi Zimo was like a fire cracker that had been set off, "Who is the peasant? You are the peasant, your entire family are peasants." He retorted to the young man.
The young man ignored Chi Zimo and looked at the soldier, "What are you waiting for to get rid of the trash? This is not a village that any dog can wonder into. It’s the home of privileged families. Do these people look privileged to you?"
"I am sorry young master Ji; I will call my colleagues and get rid of them immediately." The soldier bowed respectfully.
The car sped off and the gate was locked again. The Chi family was left out, standing behind the tall wall, looking inside through the gaps of the steel gate.
"I told you, you don’t belong here and if you don’t move. I am going to use violence. It’s the language people like you understand." The soldier untied his baton and threatened them with it.
