Transmigration: Lady Chi Woos The Ice cold Professor Jun -
Chapter 139: The rat.
Chapter 139: The rat.
The "rat" which was standing somewhere close to him smiled slyly and giggled. She would never be caught. It was really amusing to her watching Muyang plot different ways to trap her while she sat or slept next to him everyday. Each time he fumed because the peep star had shared a personal photograph she would giggle endlessly.
"Have you found number two." The old madam asked.
"I am still looking for it grandmother." She said and she continued searching through a whole lot of party decorations which would not be used because all the decorating was finished. Someone had ordered for far more decorations than they needed.
The cake was unveiled and placed on the table, taking the attention of all the children away from their games.
"Wow, giant panda." A little boy said.
"Daddy I want to climb the giant panda." A little girl said.
Another one wanted to pinch the cake but her hands were slapped away by her mother and the girl cried.
"We should cut the cake before all the children start crying." He Weili commented.
"We still don’t have the number two_"
"Here grandmother, I found it." Chi Lian held the number two candle up victoriously. Finding the number two candle gave her more pressure than chasing after a criminal for news or justice.
The candle was put on the cake and Muyang lifted Mei-Mei up so that she could easily cut the cake and blow out the candle.
"How should we count?" Mama Chi asked.
Everyone thought silently for a while. "Hmm," a few sounds were heard.
Finally the old master broke the silence by suggesting that the poppers should go off first and then the cake can be cut.
He Weili and Mama Chi quickly gathered the rest of the children close and told them to sing happy birthday.
Knowing that there was cake to eat, the kids vigorously sung and clapped their hands.
"Happy birthday to you_"
The poopers went off and Muyang and Chi Lian held Mei-Mei’s arms, helping her to cut the cake amidst loud cheers, camera flashes and louder opening of poppers which filled the air with confetti. Little Mei-Mei was stuffed full of cake by relative present and passed around from one body to another for a picture op.
Once the cake was distributed, the children went back to playing. Muyang carried his precious daughter away and they went to take pictures with her in a photo booth.
"Host, that person is back."
"Who?"
"Minister Su, he has returned that cat. It’s not even that cute, are you really taking it in?" T4 sounded a tad bit jealous. Perhaps it was because cats are smaller and cuter than most animals that he was afraid she would stop paying attention to him in her spare time and play with the cat instead.
"I took you in, why can’t I take in others?"
"I am highly sophisticated virtual pet system from a high tech world. That is a hairy ball from a low level world, there is a difference between us. I bring you wealth, it brings you poop."
"Are you really that displeased about the cat?"
"Yes." T4 said grumpily.
"Then I will give it to Mei-Mei as a gift."
Satisfied with this decision, T4 went back to monitoring the grounds for traces of the assassin.
Chi Lian sat idly by at the cake table as she waited for the minister to approach her. She wondered if he would update her on their situation with the shifter.
"Looks like I missed quite the party." The minister commented as he sat down.
"Yes, it was as wild as a party for a two year old gets." She replied. "Is that my cat?" she asked. Her eyes were glued to the pet carrier he was carrying.
"Yes," he said. "But you should be careful, she is a fighter. She injured my men, if you did not tell us to return her she would be put down for being feral." He warned her. The cat was a scratcher, not that she could blame it after a human being had stabbed it and left it to die.
Carefully, she opened the cat carrier and lured the cat outside. The white cat tentatively approached her, meowing adorably.
"I don’t see it, she seems to be sweet." She said to the minister. She was rubbing the cat’s fur and it had made no move to scratch her yet.
The minister reached out his hand and tried to touch the cat but it hissed at him, its hairs raised and its claws ready to strike. The minister quickly retrieved his hand and looked at the cat as if it were his enemy on a battle field.
"I told you the damn thing is feral." He said in anger. "Best to put it down." He suggested.
"Here kitty," Chi Lian called the cat and it relaxed. "Maybe it doesn’t like men." She said thoughtfully.
"Hmph." He rolled his eyes. "What’s wrong with men?"
"She was stabbed by a man for one." She continued petting the cat until it relaxed and purred happily. "Do you have any updates on the shifter?" she decided to try her luck.
Mama Chi came by to greet the minister and give him some cake before quickly dashing away. The minister dug into the cake with gusto, clearing it within thirty seconds.
"I told you to stay out of it." He said as he wiped his hands with a paper towel." Do you have more cake?" he asked.
"Mum, minister Su wants more cake. A vey fat one." She shouted to Mama Chi who was happily chatting with He Weili and the old madam as they continued cutting Cake for the campers. The cake was so big that even after every one ate, it would be left over.
Chi Lian figured that the longer she kept minister Su here, the more information she would be able to dig out from him.
"Do you know who the target is?" she asked while he was in the middle of chewing a big chunk of cake.
The minister shook his head to mean no.
"Do you think he is coming back, the shifter?"
The minister shrugged his shoulders to indicate that he was not sure.
Chi Lian pouted, the minister had eaten her cake for nothing. She had no new information at all. She had to stick to T4’s monitoring to find the shifter herself.
