Chapter 122: Unsatisfactory stage.

"Oh boy." Chi Lian sighed as she walked around the camp grounds. The mission to create a wondrous stage seemed to be daunting and impossible. What was she supposed to do?

About twenty workers were currently present at the site and setting up tents and booths. The platform which would be used as a stage was hurriedly being put together by a group of thirty or so men. It was supposed to be a basic stage since this was not a concert but the mission changed everything. Where in the world was she going to start from? The last rays of the sun were disappearing into the clouds and darkness would soon be setting in, time was of the essence. She had just one day to set up the stage, unless she received magical help, it was mission impossible.

"T4, does this task come with props or suggestions. I have never decorated anything in my whole life."

"The host still has a few inspiration capsules, perhaps they can be of help."

Before T4 could complete the statement she had already swallowed one inspiration capsule and crossed her fingers.

"Come on ideas, come to mummy." She mumbled.

The ideas must have been on vacation because no matter how much she called them, they did not respond. Her brain was vacant.

"T4, it’s not working, I think the inspiration capsules are expired."

"No, the capsules you have are part of a fresh batch. They will not be expiring for the next five years. Maybe speaking to the people setting up the stage will help."

As she decisively walked towards the stage hands, her family was puzzled by her behavior. Why was she growling and staring into empty space like a mindless zombie?

She found Xue Lili and He Weili giving orders to the stage hands one after the other. The stage appeared to be half way finished, the lights were being set up and as soon as that was done, the artistes would begin rehearsals.

"It’s not going to work." She said.

Nobody heard her and the hammering continued and scraping sounds continued dominating the air around her loudly.

Shouting at the top of her voice, she said, "Everyone, stop."

Most of the movement paused and almost everyone looked at her in confusion.

"Chi-Chi, what’s wrong?" He Weili asked. "We only have one day left; the stage needs to be ready by tomorrow."

"I know, that’s why I told everyone to stop. This is good work but it’s not good enough." She said.

A few of the workers were visibly disappointed to hear her words and they openly frowned and grumbled.

"Ma’am, we have been working hard on short notice to satisfy the demands of your company as quickly as possible. We have done satisfactory work I believe, what exactly are you dissatisfied with?" Their leader asked.

"Yes, we have been working hard all day with no rest. How can you show up now and call everything rubbish?" A teenage boy complained.

Before more of them could complain, she crossed her hands and made the stop sign.

"First of all I did not call your work rubbish. I said it was good just not good enough. Secondly the kind of stage I want is extraordinary, this is ordinary. I want a stage with flames, revolving doors, a waterfall or a cloud of raining petals. I want it to snow on the stage _"

As she talked about the kind of stage she wanted, everyone looked at her as if she was crazy. How could she demand for flames and moving platforms on such short notice? Nobody in the empire had ever performed with flames on stage, what if someone died? Who would be responsible?

"Ma’am, I think you are simply asking for the impossible." The leader said.

"Not impossible," she said, "Just never been done."

A voice asked from behind her, "What’s never been done?" It was her brother Chi Wei.

He had come along with her other two brothers, Muyang, the old master and the grand emperor.

"Is something wrong, we noticed that the workers look unhappy?" The old master asked Chi Lian worriedly. He was looking at the workers suspiciously.

"No, nothing is wrong. I just need them to take down the entire platform."

"With all due respect ma’am, if you insist on doing so then I will take my men and leave." The leader threatened.

His threat did not sit well with Chi Lian and her supporters. Was he the employee or the employer?

"Young man," the grand emperor said slowly, "Are you here to work or not? As an income earner, you should always listen to the opinion of your employer before threatening to walk away from your source of income. If she says it’s not good enough, listen to her because her money is paying you. Instead of being impatient, ask her how you can improve." The grand emperor sounded like a patient teacher educating a bunch of miscreants or juvenile youth. His voice was soothing and full of wisdom; the workers could not help but calm down.

"Elder, it’s not that we don’t want to listen but the boss is asking for something beyond our means." The leader explained.

"I understand," the grand emperor held the man’s shoulder and asked patiently, "Has she said that she doesn’t have the means to make what she wants possible?"

"N-no." The leader said nervously. One would have to be blind or stupid not to know the grand emperor. His face was on the twenty Yuan note, who would not recognize him?

The man was shaking nervously, he was afraid that he was going to fall down at any moment because his legs could no longer hold him up. His family would not believe that he had been touched by the grand emperor. This shirt on his body would be passed down as a family heirloom, it had been touched by the hands of royalty.

"Then you should allow her to explain what she intends to do before acting out."

"Y-ye-yes, elder." He said.

As soon as the grand emperor’s hand fell away from his shoulder, the man fell down to the ground.

"Boss." His employees called and rushed to him.

"Grand emperor." He whispered.

"What is it boss, we did not hear."

"I said pay your respects to the grand emperor right now." he shouted at the employees.

The confused men looked in the direction where their boss was facing and recognized the grand emperor.

"Oh my God!" one of them screamed.

As if a fog was lifting over their eyes, the men recognized the grand emperor and some fell to the ground like their boss.

"Gr-gra-grand emperor, I am Yuze, I am so happy, very happy, too happy." The teenager lost words and kept repeating happy over and over.

"Ha-ha-ha, it’s wonderful to see that I still inspire such love and respect among the people." The grand emperor laughed heartily. He went around greeting the men kindly and giving words of encouragement.

Chi Lian was waiting for their attention to turn back to her but they were star struck, eyes glued to the grand emperor.

"Ha-ha, I don’t think they are going to get any work done with you here." The old master said. "Let’s go back and keep our wives company." He suggested
