"They are gone; they won’t be coming back anytime soon." Chi Wei came back inside the house and announced loudly. "Is everyone okay?" he asked.

"We are all fine," Chi Lian announced on behalf of everyone. They were all crowded around mama Chi to see if she was okay. Mama Chi was sobbing inconsolably. "Mum, it will be okay, stop crying."

"Mum, the old years have gone. Everything has changed; the empire is modern, not ancient. You are now allowed to defend yourself if your parents abuse the law of filial piety. Grandmother cannot oppress you with such a threat anymore." Chi Zimo had looked up the new law on his phone and he was waving the phone in front of Mama Chi’s face.

"Mum, I plucked some hair from grandma’s head when I throwing the salt at them, if you agree, we can do a DNA test immediately. If she is not your mother, we can finally get rid of that family for good." She showed her the long thin strings of hair.

He was watching clips from the broadcast along with his brothers. Xue Lili was hovering over their shoulders and laughing.

"Here comes the part where Chi-Chi was told to break up with Muyang and give him to Wen Lili."

"That’s when sister called her senile." Chi Rui said and they all laughed.

"Ha, as if we would ever accept such a woman as our daughter-in-law, we have class, okay." Old Master emphasized the word class. "Not every cat and dog marries into our family."

"Pfffftt, did the old master just call Wen Li a cat or a dog?" Chi Zimo giggled.

"I believe he did." Chi Rui said and they laughed some more.

"Wen Li should have been here to hear the old master say this, how could she say she was more deserving of Muyang than Chi-Chi." Xue Lili said in a disbelieving voice.

Mama Chi was sitting with the old madam and He Weili who were comforting her with their words. "In-law, I understand what you meant by we all have troublesome relatives back then. I still feel very embarrassed about my son until now."

"No, you shouldn’t, my relatives are worse than your son."

"No, "the old lady insisted, "My son is worse."

"No, Mama Chi insisted, "Mine are worse."

The rest of the people in the room were confused, was this some new type of competition over whose relatives were worse? Was there a reward for having the worst relative that they did not know about?

"I think they are all equally bad." Chi Zimo settled the debate for them. There would be no clear winner in this situation after all.

Chi Lian held Muyang’s hand and smiled at the scene before her eyes. Everyone was laughing joyfully even her mother. They all needed time away from the house, she thought. A little vacation.

"Can we all go back to the field; we have only two days left to the camping event and there is much to do I think I am going to stay there until the event ends. Everyone who wants to do the same should pack up and we set out in the RV together."
