Chapter 439: Make it real

Every once in a while, Esong Wu managed to say the right thing, the thing which made her speechless.

It was exactly that in this moment. Scarlet was bewildered and startled by his sudden statement.

He tugged on her arms, demanding for her full attention. This was not a conversation for cowardice and hiding. He needed to look in her eyes, assure her of his willingness to surrender his everything to her.

He desperately hoped that she was in the same place he was.

"I don’t want us to hold back in any way in our marriage because of a contract. Let’s be honest, both of us have not exactly been adhering to it’s terms. We are behaving like any other man and wife. I don’t even recall what we even discussed back then. Do you?"

"No." she answered softly.

She lied, she remembered every detail they discussed because every time doubts about their status clouded her mind and she found herself being carried away by her emotions, she went over it.

She made sure to remind herself that they were sleeping together because of a contract. They were being cordial for the sake of their son.

She aways had to remind herself that those secret glances they shared did not mean anything. That the silly little winks he gave her when the mecha warriors were conducting inspections and they bumped into each other were simply playfulness, nothing more.

"Are you listening to me Scarlet?" He tugged on her arms once again and pulled his body closer in her direction until his face was almost touching hers.

She looked so lost in her thoughts, with a myriad of unknown emotions in her eyes. He wished that he could extract her thoughts and see what she was thinking.

"Do you need time to think about it? I don’t want to push you into anything you are not ready for."

He raised his left hand and placed it on her cheek as gently as he could.

"Kiss her." a voice in his mind said.

He held off however, ignoring his inner voice. No kissing until he said exactly what he wanted.

"I am going crazy Scarlet. What I feel for you, I don’t know if it’s love but I know that it terrifies me deeply to my core. I also don’t think it’s healthy because I have this strong urge to own you, to brand you as mine, to hide you away so that bastards like Ramslin will never set their greedy eyes on you again.

Is it just me that feels like this? Tell me, tell me Scar, that you feel for me what I feel for you."

He pulled her from where she was sitting, and dragged her to his end. He sat her on his laps and pulled her in for a tight hug.

He had never wanted anyone as much as he wanted her. Never felt for anyone, what he felt for her. It was like he was was buried under water, with no way out and he was suffocating under the weight of these emotions that were hitting him from side to side like waves.

He was trembling, and he held on to her with all of his strength as if she would be snatched away at any moment.

"Esong, are you okay?" she asked haltingly.

The rugged breathing, trembling and squeezing her as if he was seeking to break her ribs made her worry a bit.

"You are squeezing too hard." she said softly.

This was still a human body at the end of the day. And with the babies, what if he squeezed too hard and squished them. Was that even possible?

Scarlet shook her head, what was she thinking in this moment? she asked herself. This was it, the confession she longed for and the words she had needed to hear him say for so long.

This was not the time for distractions, it was the time to make it real.

She rubbed his back gently, moving her hands slowly as if she was trying to put him to sleep.

"Do you know that I thought you were the most beautiful thing in the world I had ever seen when I first set my eyes on you on the Blue star?" she asked.

He shook his head, which was buried in her chest, between her breasts.

How would he know when she had never told him? It’s not like she slept with him the first time for his good looks. As far as he knew, it was because of his position, wealth and fame.

As if she had heard his thoughts, Scarlet touched his head and said, "Well I did."

She chuckled as she remembered the exact moment when he walked into their old living room.

"I was so terrified. You looked at me like you wanted to shoot me with your gun."

Esong raised his head and shook it vehemently, denying her words.

"I didn’t, I was simply hungry and wondering how I was going to approach you and ask for some food."

She laughed softly, throwing her head back. Was that really true?

"Really!" she looked down and smacked his head lightly.

"Yes, really." he assured her.

His head went back where it had and took a deep breath, smelling the sweet scent of his body which he was so familiar with.

You could drop him anywhere in the world and he could track her down with the smell of her body alone.

She placed her hands on his head and forced him to look up at her.

Looking into his eyes, she said to him.

"I knew right from then that I was in trouble. That I had met a man who would give me sleepless nights for the rest of my life."

She lowered her face and placed a light kiss on the tip of his nose.

Then she said softly, "That I would never want another man as much as I wanted him and that if I fell in love with him, I would be in the biggest trouble of my life."

She took his right hand and held it against her heart, and said with all the sincerity she could muster. "The things you feel Esong, I feel them too. Maybe, even more than you. For me, we have always been real in my heart."

Esong smiled, lifted his head up and pressed his lips to Scarlet’s.

This move, did not surprise her. She knew his ’I am going to kiss you now’ face.

She grabbed his face when he seemed as if he would pull away and thrust her tongue inside his mouth. The kiss was gentle, relaxed and soft but achingly hungry.

She closed her eyes and gave herself into it, conveying the rest of the words between them that had gone unsaid. This was the kind of kiss, they shared often when he was leaving their planet.

They kissed like this in the dark, with desperation, afraid to say what in their hearts.

Those kisses had always confused Scarlet and left her feeling overwhelmed. They were good kisses, needy and mind blowing but they always said more than his words and left her befuddled with more questions than answers.

But not today, this was a good kiss, no befuddlement, no questions, just sincerity and love.

A small noise left her lips when Esong suddenly grabbed one of her breasts.

And that’s when Jovi’s voice was heard all through the space ship. "We have arrived at our station, please prepare for landing."

They separated quickly, and ended the kiss. The luggage in here would need to be transported out so people would be coming in here quickly.

Esong chuckled and buried his head in her chest.

"This, we are definitely going to continue it later." he promised in a rough voice.
