Chapter 348: Delusions of grandeur.

Emory’s hands were grabbed forcefully and she was strapped down to the bed by the nurses who acted as if they were unbothered by all of her screaming.

"What delusions? Are you calling me crazy? You stupid imbeciles..."

"Lady Emory, delusions of grandeur are very dangerous and you need to be restrained for your own safety." Professor Sham told her.

Emory did not understand a word of what professor Sham said and she continued to struggle. "Esong, Esong, stop ignoring me. Look over here, see what these lunatics are doing to your mother." she screamed.

Unfortunately for her, the only way Esong could possibly turn around was if someone tapped him on the shoulder or his bracelet and senses alerted him to a nearby source of danger.

"Lady, if you don’t calm down we might send you to the new psych ward." Professor Sham threatened her. "You should calm down and receive treatment so that you can leave as soon as possible."

He wanted her gone from this hospital as the woman was nothing more than a nightmare.

A purple light on the door of the ward shone, it indicated that someone had used the visitor’s pass to access this room. It lit up twice more and the professor knew that Emory’s family had come to visit.

Emmet, Elon and Emily came into the room, Emmet first and the children followed.

The two siblings approached Esong first while Emmet sighed sadly and approached the professor and his wife.

"How is her condition?" he asked.

Emory heard her husband’s voice, opened her eyes which had been momentarily closed because she did not want to look at the doctor and her mouth which had been successfully shut for a few seconds opened. "Finally, you are here, tell them to let me go. I demand to be treated from elsewhere, I will not allow this incompetent quack of a doctor to touch me. Put me in a med bed, I am a member of the royal family and I demand to be given the best treatment."

"Sedate her." Emmet said.

He did not even look once at Emory and he kept his stern gaze on the doctor.

Professor Sham did not have to be told twice, he got an oxygen mask from a trolley, sprayed some gas inside and put it over Emory’s mouth that was still harping.

Within five seconds, Emory was unconscious and Emmet finally looked at his wife. Her hair was unkempt, forehead red and bruised just like her cheeks. Some areas of her dress were torn and she only had one shoe on.

"What happened?" he asked Esong.

Esong had lowered the sound barrier when his family arrived and he said, "She started a verbal and physical that she could not finish."

"Who did she fight?" Emily asked curiously.

"My mother-in-law." Esong said, "And my wife." he added grudgingly.

Elon moved closer to the bed and he observed his mother’s condition. A part of him ached on seeing her like this, but he also reminded himself that his mother had quite a sharp mouth that run faster than any mecha known to man. "Good lord, what did she say to end up with a broken leg?"

Esong shook his head and said, "I do not care to repeat it, that’s how offensive, demeaning and vulgar it was. I am not standing with her in this case dad, whether she sues or not, I am standing by my wife. Mother initiated the fight both verbally and physically. She should have known better than to fight a former hunter and a mecha fighter. The Su’s do not shy away from violence when necessary and they are finally exhausted with mother’s eccentricities. Please, keep her away from my wife, she doesn’t seem to understand no matter how many times I warn her."

His mother-in-law was once a hunter, a great one at that and his wife was a mecha fighter. They trained regularly and knew which parts of the body to hit to inflict maximum pain. If there was another fight, his mother would probably end up with more than one broken leg.

"But, did they have to beat her up so violently?" Emily asked hesitantly with a worried look on her face as she observed her mother.

In this state of sleep when Emory was not screaming and cursing like a crazy person, she looked quite vulnerable. She was a beautiful woman with an ugly character and right at that moment on that bed, she looked like extremely pitiful.

"If someone used the ugly language she used to insult Justin I would have done more than just breaking their leg. She may be my mother but she is far from that perfect nobility etiquette she likes to claim." Esong said to Emily.

In fact, Mega Su did little damage compared to what he would have done if someone called Justin the son of a whore.

"Look, I am leaving, okay, take care of her." he told his siblings. He gave his mother one last look and then looked at his father with some pity in his eyes. He was glad that he did not have to deal with her on a daily basis.

"Father, I have a combat class to teach." he said.

Emmett nodded, and gave his attention to the doctor before Esong even left.

The siblings found chairs and sat down, patiently waiting with their father for their mother’s treatment to end. While they waited, Elroy engaged in virtual combat on his terminal while Emily studied for her upcoming nursing school entrance exam.

Professor Sham and the nurses treated Emory and her leg was set right back in no time as if it had never been injured.

After treatment, he approached Emmet and said, "We have set her bones and fixed the leg. We will treat her bruises after she wakes up. As for the minor patches of missing hair at the base of her head, I am not sure what can be done about it. I will consult with other doctors about the issue. We will see you when the patient wakes up in two hours time. You should not worry, she will be fine." he told them. On his face was an assuring smile but in his mind, he thought, I really wouldn’t want to be in your shoes.

Not unaware of what the doctor thought, Emmet nodded and shook his hands automatically. This look of pity was not new in his eyes, he often got it in the house of ministers whenever the emperor, empress or some other noble family threw a party and his wife attended. It was always a given that Emory would say something unpleasant that offended someone.

"Thank you so much doctor." he said.

When he was gone, Emily snuck a peek at her father and she shook her head. ’Why does she keep embarrassing our family?’ she thought. Every time her father’s neck turned red, he was embarrassed.

She wondered how many people would be discussing this issue before the night fell.

"Father, should we apologize to sister Scarlet and her family?" she asked.

"I will do it in person." he answered. Emory was his cross to bear, not the children’s.
