Chapter 331: Handsy governor Lancaster

He was very eager, governor Lancaster, she thought. He actually reeked of desperation as he was too eager to get the Grey star off it’s feet. But his desperation was not necessarily a bad thing because she did not sense any evil intentions coming from him. He was desperate but it was because of the condition of the people he governed.

The people of the Grey star were actually lucky to have a governor like Lancaster who cared about their lives and not about lining his own pocket.

"Maybe we should discuss this after we leave this area and can look at address each other properly. Give me a minute to get some honey though."

She had come with all the tools which she needed which made it simple and quick for her to get a few honey combs before they left.

They passed by the construction site first and saw the progress which had been made so far on the construction of her eco resort. With the beautifully crafted artisan rocks of the Grey star, the few buildings under construction were beginning to look like a chateau.

She could not wait to plant some grass, flowers and beautify the entire place.

"Is it coming along as you want?" he asked her.

She nodded and smiled, but she pointed to one area and said, "I want a small bridge that comes from that building to the next one. Below, I want a stream of water which flows around the the main building. I will send you a revised image for reference."

"I will ask the manager in charge of construction to meet you, but in the meantime, we prepared a small for you our guests. It’s not lavish or impressive but it expresses our goodwill." he said.

Scarlet looked at the time, and she realized that they had been there for close to three hours and she could not even account for how most of the time had been spent. It had moved so fast!!!

"We wont turn down your good intention’s but we cannot be here for so long. We have to go back tonight, as you know I am also in the process of rebuilding my own planet."

"I understand." governor Lancaster said.

His spaceship led the way and they flew to this mansion. Unlike her who had an entire castle, he had a mountain dwelling. It was really tall, as tall as the mountain itself and every floor of the large mansion was occupied.

It was built from strong beautiful wood and stones, giving it this rugged beauty. The surrounding area was a mixture of tall trees and high rocks.

There were bridges high up which led from one end of the mountain to another. There was also a landing port up which was exclusively used by the governor. The entire structure might have been old but it was quite beautiful and not what she expected.

"I thought the grey star was dirt poor so how did they afford to construct this?" she asked Esong.

"This is an old governor’s mansion built over four hundred years. Lancaster is only in his forties so he did not build it. Back then, the population was small in the empire so they could afford to do this with money provided by the emperor. The least the emperor could do to ensure that there is a willing governor on the grey star always is by providing proper accommodation." Esong explained.

It easily explained why the Blue star had no governor before Scarlet, no accommodation for a governor, criminals and trash.

"Did the emperor pick Lancaster or did he volunteer for the gig?" she asked him.

He laughed lightly when she called the governorship a gig but still he answered her. "He is the second son of Viscount Braylon. The viscount was supposed to be the next governor but he refused the job and it fell to his eldest son who turned the job down as well. It was a surprise when the second son, Lancaster volunteered to do it. He was the lazy brother and everyone figured that he was doing it for the title plus the salary and allowance the governor gets. I am one of those who are surprised that he stuck with it for so long. We all gave Lancaster too little credit."

They alighted from their ship and were given a brief tour around the mountain mansion, or fortress as she was beginning to refer to it in her mind. When the tour ended, they were served millet porridge, bread and eggs. All these were part of the original food supplies she sent along with Esong. It was not much, but it was delicious and appreciated greatly by Scarlet. Governor Lancaster had not prepared something beyond his means or tried to impress her with a fancy meal.

"The business question which you asked me," she said, during the meal, "I think an amusement park would be a great idea. You could also build bed and breakfasts, water related businesses like fishing, water sports. My brother handed me this earlier," She held up a large shell of a snail.

"Those are everywhere, they are good for decoration nothing else." Governor Lancaster responded.

"Not the shells but the creatures that live inside the shell, they can be eaten too. If you find some, send them my way first so that I can test for edibility and come up with a few recipes."

Governor Lancaster stood up abruptly, with excitement all over his face.

"Relax," she said, "I still have a few more suggestions like boutique luxury hotels, bungee jumping, casino, car rentals, flying balloon romantic tours, destination wedding packages. It will be better if you ban flying cars to keep your air pure and the sky visible. I already noticed that you don’t have many flying flying cars on your planet."

"The people can hardly afford to eat so how can they afford flying cars?" he replied.

"See, even the heavens are on your side." she told him. "If you cut down on the flying cars, you can do successful car rental businesses all over the planet. You can even manufacture your own cars, buses, speed trains." she went on to suggest.

Governor Lancaster and his assistant were furiously recording and noting down all of her suggestions.

"But, you must start with beaches, hotels, amusement parks and the like to attract the tourists. You can first solicit for trustworthy investors in the parks and hotels. It will take the financial burden off your shoulders and allow room for growth. I have been thinking that whatever you decide to do, consider me as a backer and investor. I will donate twenty percent of the sales from the honey to the grey star."

"Really, governor Scarlet!!" Governor Lancaster reached his hands out to grab hers out of excitement.

Esong intercepted and grabbed Scarlet’s hands. This guy was too handsy!!!

Despite that small awkward hiccup, governor Lancaster went on to thank her multiple times, over and over.

The meeting was considered a success and Scarlet left behind outfits for a few workers who would start working on taking care of the bees and extracting honey.

It was a successful trip and most of it’s contents were relayed to the empress before they even landed on the Blue star. Before the night fell, governor Lancaster would have a few big investors calling him.
