Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet
Chapter 25 Becoming Sisters

Chapter 25: Chapter 25 Becoming Sisters

"It’s okay, we Omegas have gone through that phase numerous times," Caroline said, her voice carrying care and concern.

I blinked nervously before swallowing. Lydia took the dirty dishes from me. "I can do it," I said, as I didn’t want to look like a freeloader.

"It’s okay, you don’t have to worry about that," she flashed me a smile.

My brows creased in confusion. "Why are you nice to me?" My question made her stop midway. She turned around, walking back to me.

I craned my head up to look at her, as I was sitting on a chair.

"Because you stood up for Lydia, it shows that you are brave and courageous, and you are worthy to be friends with." Her gaze softened as she continued. "Like you, we all are Omegas, except the head of the kitchen, who is a Beta. We all know how it feels to be bullied, to be in a situation where we cry for help but find none. And most of us try our best to steer clear of trouble, and most of us will go as far as ignoring our friends, strangers, when they are in danger," she walked closer, her gaze welling up.

"I lost my younger sister because, when she was being bullied, the werewolves around her—who are also Omegas like us—could not help her, so she died." A tear rolled down her cheek. Hearing her words, the other maids who were working stopped whatever they were doing, their gazes filled with sadness.

"I’m so sorry to hear about that," I gave my deepest consolation.

She shook her head slightly, wiping her tears away with her finger. "That’s why I’m very proud of you for saving my friend Caroline. You made me have hope that our kind has a little bit of consciousness in them. That’s why, from today on, you will be my close friend. In fact..." she paused. "You can call me big sister."

She slipped her hand into her pocket. When she brought her hand out, she placed a sweet in my hand. While I, on the other hand, was a little surprised by how fast she was willing to accept me, a smile unknowingly curved on my lips as I stared at the sweet in my hands. Her words were like a warm blanket over my heart. ’I have a big sister now?’ I felt a strange sensation in my heart. I was an only child in my previous life, and now, the thought of having a sibling—even though we didn’t have any blood ties—felt warm, an indirect proof that I was not alone.

"Thank you, big... sister," my cheeks burned.

She chuckled, hearing my words. "Don’t worry, this big sister got you," she patted my head.

I smiled; however, her actions reminded me of a crazy psychopath.

"What about me?" Caroline’s doe eyes widened before her lips curved into a pout.

"How could we forget about you?" Lydia teased. Bringing one more sweet from her pocket, she gave it to Caroline, who beamed immediately.

"You will be the next big sister to..." Lydia stopped midway as she cast a nervous glance towards me.

I chuckled, realising that I had not told them my name yet. "Ember... My name is Ember."

"Ember," Lydia finished her sentence with a sorry look. "I’m sorry, Ember, I didn’t ask for your name earlier." She scratched the back of her neck.

Caroline also had a sorry look on her face.

"It’s okay."

"You guys can stay here if you want to, or you can take a stroll outside. I have to supervise the other maids," she said, ruffling my hair one more time.

"Do you want me to show you around the castle?" Caroline beamed at me.

I wondered how she could still be this happy, with all that horror she experienced last night. I nodded my head, because I could see how much she wanted me to go out with her, and I didn’t want to burst her little bubble.

"Okay guys, see you later. Be careful and stay away from higher-ranking werewolves," Lydia warned.

We both bobbed our heads at her words. Then, Caroline grabbed my hand, pulling me with her.

"Byeeee," my voice trailed off as we made our way outside the kitchen door.

’This went better than I thought. I never knew a single act would get me two sisters and free food,’ at the thought of food, my mouth watered. I licked my lips in anticipation of the next meal. ’Get yourself together! When did you become a foodie?’ that part of me that was still holding onto my past memories yelled in my mind.

’Since I died and transmigrated,’ the other voice in my mind responded. Sometimes it feels weird that I have multiple voices in my head—a talent I never realised I had.

My gaze moved to Caroline, who was handing me the sweet Lydia had given to her earlier. "This is a thank-you gift for standing up for me last night," she said shyly, her black hair cascading down her back, with some cascading over her face.

I stared at the sweet in her hand, and as appetising as it was, I didn’t want to take it because that was the only one she had, but if I didn’t, she would think I was rejecting her gratitude.

"You don’t have to thank me," I said playfully, collecting the sweet from her. I began to unwrap the paper, then my eyes flicked back to her.

Her hands clasped together before swinging to her side, her cheeks turning slightly red. I smiled, noticing how naive she looked. I broke the sweet in half. I threw one part in my mouth before handing the other to her.

"Here." A look of surprise flickered through her eyes before her lips broke into a smile.

"Thank you, Ember," she took it before putting it in her mouth. "This is the first time Lydia has given me a sweet," she said with a sad smile.
