Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet
Chapter 23 His Pet or His Problem?

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 His Pet or His Problem?

How was that possible? They must be wrong, or is that the reason why he is always behaving strangely?

"But I’m not lying, Alpha Damon is my master," I said, pushing the urge to ask more questions away from my mind. I strained my neck, my gaze sweeping over the roasted chickens and some mashed potatoes, my stomach grumbling again.

"Get out," the lady’s voice brought me out of my stupor.

My eyes drooped as I stared at her with pitiful eyes. Seeing her stern gaze, I knew that I would be starving for the day.

As I turned to leave. ’Wait, you are going to leave like that? With an empty stomach?’ Then my steps halted. Then I turned around, facing the lady who hadn’t moved an inch.

"What are you waiting for? Leave!" she raised her voice.

But I didn’t feel so much from her tone in comparison to other people—well, the famous psychopath is ranking the list.

My shoulders slumped as I made my way to leave finally. On my way out, I bumped into a young girl with black hair and brown doe eyes.

My eyes widened in surprise, mirroring her own expression. "You..." we uttered at the same time.

"You are the one who saved me the other night," a grateful glint flickered through her eyes before being replaced by a hint of embarrassment.

"Hello, we meet again." It brought warmth to my heart that I was able to save someone.

"Yeah, what are you doing here?" she asked with a perturbed expression.

"I wanted to grab something to eat, but a young lady wouldn’t let me," I complained as I glared daggers at the lady who wouldn’t let me grab some food.

"Lydia, why didn’t you give her some food?" she asked the lady.

"Because she lied about being owned by Alpha Damon," she answered with a huff.

"She isn’t lying about that. I literally saw him ripping someone’s arm off because of her... and she is the one who had rescued me the other night, the one that I had told you guys about."

Silence fell on the kitchen like a lingering ghost. The maids that were busy doing different activities stopped midway as they heard what Caroline said, surprise flickering through their eyes.

"You are the one who saved her?" Lydia asked in astonishment. She had been looking forward to meeting the brave omega who managed to stand up to a beta.

I nodded my head.

"Come in, let me quickly get something for you," Lydia rushed to the kitchen, preparing breakfast.

My heart thudded with joy and gladness. "Thank you..."

"Caroline," she replied with a sweet smile.

"Thank you, Caroline," I beamed at her.

"Come with me," she pulled me inside the kitchen. The silence that was lingering in the break ended as the maids began to chatter among themselves. The sounds of knives chopping the vegetables, the sizzling sound of frying, the clattering sound of dishes, and the running filled the air.

...

(Damon POV)

Meanwhile, when Damon had left the meeting room earlier, although every step of his looked well-calculated and imposing, and his face remained emotionless, it was the complete opposite of what was going on within him.

His wolf pounced within. "How could you do this? I thought you said you were only going to observe her for now? Why did you kiss her?" he growled angrily within him.

"I didn’t kiss her," Damon snapped back at his inner wolf.

’Liar,’ the wolf’s voice drawled, a snarl rumbling from the depth of his chest. "Your lips touched hers," he spat out.

"It was a mistake, okay? I just wanted to see how far I could go," he muttered underneath his breath.

"What happened to the vow we both made?"

"I have always kept it within me, and I haven’t forgotten about it ever since—not even for a moment."

"But you do when you are always in her presence," his wolf, Beowulf—but Damon likes to call him White because of its fur color—growled again, pushing against him.

"No, I did not," he refuted, a growl reverberating through his chest. Immediately after he came out from the castle, his stride turned into a hasty one as he headed straight into the woods.

"Let’s kill her. She is a threat to us. We can’t keep her around. Let me take control and go end her now," White demanded.

"No, you will do no such thing," Damon said, his voice low with a menacing tone.

His steps turned into a jog, then into a run. His body shifted between his human form and some furs coming from his body. His teeth elongated into canines as his claws protruded out of his fingers.

His eyes shifted from black to grey. "Let me take control, Damon. That girl is weird—even her scent is weird. She doesn’t smell like a full wolf," the wolf roared in his head, which made him fall to his knees. His knees dug into the dirt of the forest, his left fingers dug into the bark of the tree.

"White, stay back and stay still. Stop making this harder for me." He gasped for air.

"Not until you promise me you would stop seeing her. If you don’t want to kill her, you can sell her again. We don’t need any breeders—or worse, a mate," his beast clawed within him.

Damon held his head as he felt like it was going to rip apart from all the pouncing and clawing from his beast.

"Promise me, Damon." Damon’s ragged breathing pierced through the silent woods. Even though the fresh and damp air was refreshing and soothing to his lungs, it felt like a burning sensation in his chest.

"I can’t promise you anything for now, but I’ll try to do my best to keep it," he muttered, but it only earned him a growl.

"So you want to betray her?" White drawled, as he wanted Damon to reflect on every single word he said.
