My heart stilled at his words, "He wanted me to come over and show him? Why do I feel like he doesn’t mean it?" I was conflicted about what to do, and the fact that a couple of eyes were staring daggers at me.

"There is nothing wrong with coming out, you are just overthinking it," I swallowed, stepping out from Damon’s frame.

Slowly, I peeked my head out. I saw the furious elder whose eyes held malice; it was like he wanted to shred me into pieces.

"The meeting is over for now," Damon’s voice made me stop midway.

"But she has something to correct on the map?" another werewolf said.

"And I said the meeting is over for now! I will send you the time we will be meeting next time."

The werewolves bowed their heads in submission as they moved to walk out of the door. Elder Dominic turned around, his brows furrowed. "Bring her along during the next meeting." Then he finally left the room.

The air felt heavy. His words sounded more like a threat. I wanted to facepalm myself, ’What happened to scarcity and demand?’ Now that I have made a move, I had to keep moving to keep everything in my control.

Then I felt a burning gaze on my back. Wait... it was two. As I turned to look for the owners of the eyes, my eyes landed on Damon, who was still standing in front of me, and Theo, who stood beside him.

If there was something that would make me believe that these two people were related, it was the cold stare that they both had.

"So you are father and son?" I asked with a nervous chuckle.

Damon’s gaze hardened the more. "Do you think this is a child’s play?" he asked, his voice stern and cold. I couldn’t help but feel goosebumps all over me.

"What child’s play? I wasn’t playing around, master," I said, lowering my voice.

"Elder Dominic and the rest of the elders have been trying to find solutions for years now, and you think you, a pup, can come up with a perfect solution?" Theo asked, his eyes scrutinising me before pushing his glasses to their correct position.

"And not only that, you even called him dumb..."

"No I didn’t," I shot back at him before turning to Damon, who had been staring at both of us from under his lashes. His hand moved down to his pocket.

It was like I was put on a spotlight. "Theo, excuse us," Damon said, walking closer to him.

Theo looked like he was about to say something but decided to leave.

After the door shut closed behind Theo, the room hushed, almost holding its breath to watch what was to unfold. But its silence brought an uneasy sensation rising in my chest.

"I can see that you are enjoying your time," he said with an amused expression, but his eyes were telling a different tale, a tale I could not yet understand.

"You like my son? I can see that you enjoy being in his presence?" His words came out with a growl. My heart skittered in my chest.

’Me? When did I enjoy being in the presence of Mr. Four Eyes? How am I going to explain that it wasn’t pleasurable meeting his son?’

"Master... I never enjoyed being in his presence," I stuttered, as he walked closer to me like a predator closing in on its prey slowly.

The atmosphere felt thicker, the oxygen seemed to become more like a wall, pressing against my chest, making it difficult for me to breathe.

"I saw the way you were bantering with him, you both looked like a lovey-dovey," the jealousy in his voice was more evident now, his eyes piercing through mine.

I stumbled back but soon crashed into a table. Before I could move, his hands slammed against the table at my sides, trapping me between his arms.

"Tell me, you enjoyed talking to him?" His chest rumbled, his face was inches apart from mine. My fingers dug into the wood of the table as I felt his hot breath fanning against my face, and his body was so close to mine that it made my head spin.

His smell of rich chocolate and pine made my brain flatline for a moment. This was becoming too much for me to handle. But how could I have such a feeling towards someone as brutal and crazy as him? He was like a forbidden fruit, appealing yet poisonous.

My legs pressed together nervously. I shook my head. "I don’t..."

"Liar," he growled in my ears. My body shivered in response to his growl. I felt a mix of fear and something more dangerous—something I refused to name or accept.

"I’m not lying," my chest heaved against his chest. My eyes locked into his, and I could feel myself slipping into the depths of his eyes. How could he be so cold and arrogant and at the same time so pleasing to the eyes?

My eyes closed when I saw him moving his head closer to me. ’He is going to kiss me!’ my mind screamed in my head.

’What happened to you hating him? That man literally bought you like a guinea pig and punished you throughout the night, and tortured you both mentally and emotionally, and you want to kiss him? Did you forget how he tore someone’s arms without blinking? Do you think he would love you? Don’t get fooled by his little kindness that doesn’t amount to nothing,’ the other part of my head warned.

My lips quivered in anticipation. Even though I knew this was wrong and I should back away, this was exactly one of those charged moments where you could literally feel the electricity pulsing through your veins, heart pounding in your ears, as blood rushed into your head. A moment I’ve always dreamed of. How could I refuse it even though I knew he was a crazy psychopath?

My body froze, his body pressing into mine, his lips brushing against mine like a light feather. My body trembled from the butterflies that were sent flying around my stomach.

His calloused hand crept to the back of my neck. The warmth of his hand touching my skin was like a scorching sun. I felt my temperature rising.

"Kiss me," I whimpered.
