Ren stopped his footsteps and turned his head toward the source of the sound.

’Hmm?’

He saw three children around his age.

From their clothes, he knew they were beggars because their clothes were dirty and full of holes.

Dirt even could be seen on their entire bodies, including in their hair.

The names of these children were Alfie, Tom, and Dex.

Alfie, the leader of the group, stepped forward. "Leave this place now! Otherwise, we will beat you up later."

"Yes. We will beat you up if you don’t leave this place immediately." Tom and Dex said in unison.

Ren was furious with their behavior.

He believed he found the abandoned house first, yet they acted like the abandoned house belonged to them.

Of course, he did not accept it because he needed a place to take shelter, especially when Scarlett was sick.

Ren walked toward a tree and put Scarlett down. "Scarlett, wait here. I will take care of this problem first."

"Un." Scarlett nodded her head.

"What?! You want to fight us!" Tom and the others were not afraid of Ren.

They had numbers, so they believed they could defeat Ren.

"I will give you two choices. Leave this place now or get beaten up by me. Which one do you choose?" There was no sign of fear in Ren’s eyes because they were only children.

"How dare you act arrogantly in front of us!" Alfie said angrily. "Beat him up!"

Tom and Dex followed the order and rushed toward Ren.

However, they could not defeat him.

They were only beggars and had never learned any martial arts before, so they were no match for Ren.

Ren hit their stomachs hard, causing them to fall on their knees instantly.

"Cough...Cough..." Tom and Dex had difficulty breathing after being hit by Ren.

Tom and Dex could not help him because they still felt immense pain.

When Ren unsheathed his sword, Aflie could not suppress the fear within him anymore, causing him to kneel before Ren.

"Please forgive me. Please forgive me. I will leave this place immediately, but please don’t kill me." Alfie was not stronger than Tom or Dex, so he knew what would happen to him if he fought Ren, especially after Ren had unsheathed his sword.

"Leave this place now!" Ren did not kill them because their mistakes were not too serious, so he was willing to let them go.

After Alfie and his group left, Ren carried Scarlett to the abandoned house.

There was no living room in the abandoned house because the living room and bedroom were combined into one.

Of course, Ren was fine with it because they no longer needed to sleep on the terrace of a closed shop.

As Scarlett was sitting on the edge of a bed, Ren skimmed his surroundings.

’There are only bamboo bed and fire pit in this room.’

The bamboo bed was placed on the right side, while the fire pit was located in the middle of the room.

’Well, at least we can use this fire pit to warm ourselves later.’

He checked the house again.

His face broke into a smile when he saw a small kitchen next to the bedroom.

’Good! There is also cooking equipment in this kitchen.’

He saw cooking equipment hanging on the wall.

Even though they were dirty, he was fine with it because they only needed to wash it.

After checking everything, he returned to the bedroom. "Scarlett, there is a kitchen next to this

"It’s ten copper coins, but for an adorable young girl like you, I will give you a discount." The old woman said, "You can get this recipe book with only eight copper coins."

Scarlett took eight copper coins from her pocket.

"Here." Scarlett had money because Ren gave her money before she went to the market.

The old lady gave the recipe book to Scarlett and said, "I hope you can master all the recipes and make your family happy, young lady."

"Thank you." Scarlett left with a happy face.

’I suddenly can’t wait to read this cookbook.’

At this moment, she suddenly remembered something.

’Wait. Why don’t I buy plant seeds too? With this, I can plant vegetables and fruits in the backyard.’

"Yes." she told him that they were vegetable and fruit seeds. "Ren, let’s plant them together later."

"Sure." He agreed instantly.

"Good!" she said happily.

"Do you want to learn how to cook?" he inquired.

"Yes. After I learn how to cook, I will cook for you every day." She said they did not need to buy food in the future because they could directly harvest their vegetables and fruits.

"My Scarlett is so smart!" Ren praised her idea.

"Hehe." Scarlett laughed happily.
