Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife -
Chapter 167: Seeking answers
Chapter 167: Seeking answers
"What do you mean I should go back to the world I come from?" Ave questioned as she walked forward and stood before the mare, who looked bored and uninterested in talking to her again after the words she spoke.
She would be more than happy to go back to her own world and body if she knew how to, but she didn’t, which was why she sought answers to many questions, and from the looks of things, it seemed this mare might be able to help her.
"Why did you say such words?" Ave asked again when the mare didn’t reply and was now staring at her boredly. Ave gritted her teeth impatiently as she knew with this mare’s attitude, they could never get along. She wouldn’t even be standing here if she didn’t need the arrogant—
"I can hear you, Rosette. The more you act like a person that doesn’t belong here, the more I will treat you like that."
Ave blinked twice at the mare as her jaw fell slack. "You can read my thoughts?" she asked, surprised and displeased that the mare could hear what she thought about in her mind. How was that even possible? Not just that, she had called her by that name again.
"Who is Rosette?" she asked, hoping she would get her answers this time and also trying to shut her mind from saying anything in the mare’s presence.
Heaven tossed her head back with a dramatic flair, her long mane swirling like a tempest as she replied, "Why do you seek answers to questions that are already obvious?" Came her voice that rang in Ave’s head and had a bored tone to it. She had a soft voice that held wisdom and knowledge in them. Just like those blue orbs, her voice was filled with nonchalance and laziness.
"How is it obvious? You address me by a name that isn’t mine and you expect me to know the reason?" Ave scoffed impatiently as she began to pace the stables with her hands on her hips and her eyes on the mare, who followed her movements with her bored eyes. No matter how much she thought about it, she had no answers to any of the questions bothering her.
"At least can you tell me why you think I should go back to my world and how I can go back?" Ave said with a resigned sigh as she walked back to the stall.
Heaven let out a sigh as she moved back from the door, her back to Ave as she said, "You are not meant to be here, Rosette. Your destiny might have belonged and might have started here, but you were never meant to be here."
"What do you mean?" Ave asked with a confused frown. She was getting even more confused with each passing day she spent here and the weird things she had experienced.
First, it was the shadow woman who had only appeared once to tell her she was here to fulfill a quest, and then it was the strange dreams like reality she experienced and even came across a creature like a Vampire who seemed ready to drink her blood and then a talking horse who speaks in riddles and confused her with every word. What was she supposed to do and believe in?
"You might feel the pull of belonging now that you have started regaining your powers, but you can’t belong here. The powers that once drifted through your soul—those were cast away, buried beyond reach. And they must remain so," Heaven said with a quiet forbidding in her voice that unsettled Ave. "Return while you can. Because if you linger, you risk far more than yourself. For him...yes, even for him. His life hangs by a thread you may yet cut."
"Who...?" she asked as her frown kept growing deeper. Why was she here if she wasn’t meant to be? And who was this "him"?
"Roland," Heaven replied as she turned to look at Ave.
Ave felt her heart skip a beat at the mention of that name and her stomach twisted at the same time as she felt the hairs on her arms stand on end. "Roland..." She repeated as her eyes turned unfocused. That name rang a bell in her head and made her feel a sense of familiarity that didn’t just unsettle her but made her feel a longing she had never felt before. However, no memories came with the name.
"Who is Roland?" she asked the mare with a quiet voice.
"You should know better than I who he is. It is not in my place to speak of him or who he is. Deep in your heart, you know him and you can risk anything for him. Go back if you want him to live. Stay, and you’ll cradle a world in ruin. A selfish heart brought you here to fulfill a purpose they had failed to achieve...but only your selfless heart will get you back, Rosette."
Ave felt like yanking at her hair in frustration as she couldn’t seem to completely understand what all this means. Heaven was talking in riddles that confused and made her frustrated. She was brought here by someone selfish? Who was that? Was it that shadow woman who gave her a quest? If she was this Rosette who belonged here, how could she be Aveline in the future? And who was Roland, what was his relationship with Rosette?
"Heaven, I’d really appreciate it if you’d break this down for me in ways I’ll understand. If you don’t mind, can you tell me the whole history of this Rosette and Roland thing? Because I can assure you that I am no Rosette, I am Aveline Eamon and was born in the year 2000, I have no business in 1303 until I was mysteriously plunged here into this body. I know you want me to go back to my world, I will gladly do so if you tell me how to go on about it. I have nothing here to..." Ave trailed off before she could complete those words. Lucian.
Why does the thought of leaving him here unsettle her more than she wanted it to? She recalled how he had taken it upon himself to make her his girlfriend and her heart trembled at the fact that she would be leaving him. Her staying here would bring ruin to the world, Heaven had said, but why couldn’t she imagine herself turning her back on him? Ave thought as she massaged her temple and cursed under her breath.
"He is not my concern, I don’t have any reasons to care about him or what he does. My life isn’t here, my world is different from his. I shouldn’t stay here or even think about living in a body that isn’t mine, but yet..." Ave muttered to herself as she glanced up at the mare who was now regarding her strangely. "What should I do?" Ave asked the mare, but Heaven turned away from her and laid down on the hay then closed her eyes, completely ignoring Ave who seemed and looked distressed.
"Heaven?" Ave called, but if the mare heard her, she didn’t even make any indication that she heard and just laid there. "You are one arrogant creature! If you don’t answer me, I’ll come in there and make you start talking!" Ave exclaimed in exasperation as she knew the mare could hear her and was only pretending to be asleep.
Heaven let out a snort, "I don’t want to talk to a crazy person who acts nothing like the Rosette I know. Go away." The sound of her snort echoed her annoyance and made it clear that she had no intentions of speaking to Ave again.
Ave opened and closed her mouth as she pointed angrily at the mare, but in the end, she could do nothing but throw her hands up in the air in defeat. "Fine. I will find the rest of the answers myself, you pompous rude fluffy thing! Take your arrogance and shovel it down your pretty ass!" She said angrily as she gathered a handful of dirt and poured it toward the mare, but before it could reach her, it was blown away by the wind and Heaven opened her eyes.
"You will speak to me with respect, young woman. I am ten times your age and I come from a line of royal blood, I was respected by the greatest witch in existence!" Heaven said in displeasure. Normally, she had never spoken more than what was required of her, but this person’s arrogance and insolent behavior to dare throw dirt at her made her displeased.
Ave laughed smugly as she heard the displeasure in the mare’s words, pleased that she had angered the creature enough to make her speak again and show other emotions in her voice other than boredom and laziness. "Yeah right. Royal blood my ass, respect is not given, it is earned. Earn my respect by telling me how to go back to my world and why you think my presence here will bring ruin?" She arched a challenging brow.
Heaven’s nostrils seemed to flare at that question, "I cannot tell you how, because you were brought here by..." She stopped short as if just realizing Ave had purposely made her angry to get her to reveal more to her, and then she backed away as if not believing it. "Go away from here." She moved deeper into the stables and hid in the shadows.
Ave knew there was no other way to get the mare to talk more now that she was hiding in the shadows. Sighing silently, she said, "Fine, I’m leaving." And then left the stables, not satisfied with her visit with Heaven as the mare had only further confused her even more.
She was here and yet she wasn’t meant to be here? It meant that shadow lady had lied to her about some quest or what? Was the shadow woman the selfish heart who had brought her here? Who was she and why had she brought her soul to a world the mare had claimed she shouldn’t be in? One thing was certain, there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the way.
Already feeling a rising headache throbbing in her head, Ave left the stables and walked into the doomed palace as the princess looked to be busy with Harry, who they watched work in facination. She made her way to the library first to check if she’d find another spell book to place a curse on the thief who had stolen the other book. She was going to place a curse that would make the person lose their voice forever so when they would go and report her to the Emperor, there would be no voice to speak. Or perhaps she could place a curse to paralyze the person forever?
Ave snickered evilly in her head at the thought of it. Normally, she wasn’t that wicked, but if someone were to attempt to harm her, she wasn’t going to go easy on them either. The paralyzing curse would do better, she thought as she pushed the door of the library open, only to find almost all the books from the shelves, and those on the floor which had been there the last time she came, missing.
"What the hell! Where did all the books disappear to?" she wondered with widened eyes. Could it be that they had all magically disappeared at the same time as the one in her room?!
