Chapter 161: "Be my girlfriend."
Chapter 161: "Be my girlfriend."
[Long Chapter.]
---
Ave’s eyes widened, taken aback by his sudden kiss that had come without any warning. She was too shocked to move at first as he kissed her, but when she recovered and felt his mouth move against hers, she frowned in displeasure and tried to push him away, her hands flattening against his solid chest as he’d pulled her head down where he still laid on the bed, one of his hands behind her neck and the other one slipped around her waist to keep her still.
Ave struggled to break free from his hold like a terrified rabbit cornered by a predator as she hit at his chest, but when she felt his hand coaxingly move up and down her spine and his warm tongue traced the contour of her lips where he licked and nibbled her bottom lip, Ave’s hands slowly stopped their struggling, and she found herself relaxing into the forbidden taste of the devil in human form before her, who always seemed to coax her to falling into his sinful world that promised something forbidden and delicious if she were to allow him to show her.
Warmth slowly began to consume her from the inside where her skin tingled, and her muscles tensed up when she felt his hand, which had been around her waist, move up to the side of her breasts where he caressed at the same time he sought entrance into her mouth. He nibbled at her lips and then pressed his teeth on them, she gasped in surprise, and when she opened her mouth, his skillful wet tongue invaded her mouth at the same time he pulled her to lay atop him.
Lucian had not intended to take the kiss this far but to shut her off from cursing him for taking the spell book, but the moment he kissed her, he’d lost control like he usually did when it came to her. She tasted sweet, like the ripest fruit, her lips soft and yielding beneath his. There was something addictive about her taste, like honey laced with desire. The more he kissed her, the more addicted he was becoming to her, and the more he wanted to kiss those lips every day. Her sweetness always lingered on his tongue after every kiss, making him crave her all the more.
He ran his fingers into her thick hair as he angled her head to fit perfectly with his mouth, he sucked and licked her lips like they were the most precious thing he’d ever tasted, because they were. He felt her taut breast press against his chest in ways that made him hard and tense, and he tightened his hold around her to bring her even closer to his starving body. He needed her as close as possible.
Her scent filled his lungs with every breath he took between kisses—sweet, warm, and utterly intoxicating, pulling him deeper into her, and her soft moans only spurred him on, urging him to deepen the kiss, to feel her lips part under his, leaving him hungry.
Ave’s fingers involuntarily splayed across his chest, the firmness of his muscles impossible to ignore. She felt the frantic rise and fall of his chest under her palm, his heartbeat strong and racing as fast as hers beneath her touch. When she felt his hand move up and down the side of her breasts before he switched their position in a way that he was lying atop her and her back was now on the soft mattress, all the while he didn’t break the kiss to give her the chance to register what was happening and that she should stop him.
Her hands trembled against his chest as his hands moved up to caress her breast before he pushed the sleeve of her dress down easily, as she had worn that same simple dress from when they visited the river and she fell into it, she had no corset nor the bra-like thing on, and his hand found her bare breast as he pushed the sleeve away. He gave it a gentle squeeze and drew a moan from her mouth, but his hungry kisses muffled the sound.
A small voice at the back of her mind was telling her to push him away, to stop this, but the louder voice in her head and her body that had been craving his touches when she was taking a bath betrayed her. The feel of his weight on her and how he was positioned in between her parted legs on the bed stirred something deep inside her, a warmth that spread through her, refusing to let her pull away or push him to put an end to this.
If Ave had known she would end up with him like this before she came here, she would not have come, as it was hard to resist him whenever he dared to kiss her. But the throbbing in her lower abdomen persisted, controlled her, and made a thought cross her mind; it was good that she had come. Somehow, she knew something like this was going to happen If Lucian wasn’t as sick as she’d imagined. Her body and soul had longed and craved for this.
Ave arched towards him, and when his hardened erection rubbed against her inner thigh, where she was feeling an uncontrollable heat pulling up, it caused her to seek the feel of him against her. She bit hard on the inside of her cheek to hold herself from letting out the sound that was stuck in her throat. She didn’t know what she sought, but the way she felt him rub against her, she wished he would touch her there. The wish to be touched there mortified her so much she wanted to push away from him, run to her chamber, and bury her head under her pillow in embarrassment.
Never in her entire life had she ever felt this way. In her time, she had never been drawn to any man, nor had she ever known anything as good as being kissed by one. She had avoided relationships and sexual approaches like the plague; she had hated the thought of being touched by any man. Even when she had starred in the Tyrant Princess drama, it had taken a lot of practice and schooling her expression to avoid showing how uncomfortable she was with the male actor holding or touching her. Sometimes she would flinch or feel repulsed whenever he was to hug her, but because she had mastered and practiced the art of acting, no one had noticed.
Her body had been dead for so long that she had never known anything could feel as good and yet forbidden as this. She arched her back and moved in a way that made his erection through his trousers rub against her, and that was all she could do not to roll her eyes in pleasure. She allowed her hands to run over his chest and then go around his neck to pull him closer. She tried to return his kisses and licked his lips as he did to her.
She heard him groan in the back of his throat, as if he enjoyed how she had licked his lips before she felt him begin to trace his hand from her breast to her stomach, where she shivered from his touch, as the fabric of her dress wasn’t as thick as the other ones, and she felt the graze of his fingers. His hands were moving lower to the part where it burned and sought his touch, when she felt him jerk away from her so suddenly she almost moaned in protest and impulsively followed his head with hers so he wouldn’t break the kiss or move his body away from hers.
The absence of his body from hers made her shiver slightly. She heard him swear under his breath before he quickly reached out and pulled her dress back up to cover one of her breasts, which he had exposed when he pulled her sleeve down. He fixed her dress properly, all the while Ave laid there, stunned and ashamed of what she had just done. She didn’t even have time to register anything before he pulled her into a sitting position and then spoke in a voice that was laced with annoyance and frustration.
"Zane is coming back," he told her as he sat on the edge of the bed next to her, while she sat on the bed, her back against the headboard and her face as red as tomatoes. She was too embarrassed to even utter a word or look towards the door when it was pushed open and Zane walked in holding a bowl and a cloth, oblivious to what he had interrupted between the two until he was met with Lucian’s darkened glare, which made him stop at the entrance with a frown on his face.
Zane looked from Ave to the prince, but when he saw she was the one sitting on the bed with her head turned to the side, he couldn’t help but wonder how they had switched positions. Wasn’t Lucian pretending to be sick? he wondered as he walked forward and held out the bowl of water to Lucian, since Ave was now on the bed. "Here is the water."
"Put it on my head," Lucian grated in irritation, his voice laced with sarcasm as he glared murderously at Zane. If they weren’t childhood friends, who had grown together, he really would have strangled Zane for his interruption—again. This was the second time he had interrupted them when they were together, and yet he looked so oblivious to it.
Shrugging casually, as he was used to Lucian’s mood swings, he walked over and placed the water and cloth on the nightstand and decided to leave the chamber before Lucian would decide he didn’t like him anymore and burn him to ashes with his powers. He could sense the tension between the two in the air, and if his senses were right, he could tell he had interrupted something steamy in the room.
Before Zane could even take a step towards the door, he saw Ave leap quickly out of the bed, about to dash towards the door and leave, when Lucian reached out and caught her wrist, stopping her in her tracks before she could walk past him to the door.
"Let go of me. You are no longer sick, and I don’t need to stay here," she said calmly while still avoiding Lucian’s eyes, Zane noted.
"Zane," Lucian called out to him in a blank voice and then ordered, "Go to the doomed palace and tell the cook there to prepare a chicken dish and bring it here. We haven’t eaten breakfast, and now it’s way past lunch. Aren’t you hungry, Babe?" He directed the question to Ave, whose heart skipped a beat at the way he addressed her when she’d told him not to this morning. She was certain he was doing this deliberately.
Zane’s eyes widened at the way he addressed the lady. Babe? What was she? An infant? he thought in surprise. It seemed Lucian was aiming to keep hitting him with many surprises today. Nodding his head to the order, he offered them a curt bow and left to go do what he was told.
The moment the door closed behind Zane, Ave swirled around and faced Lucian, her face still flushed from embarrassment and the lack of finding the release her body desperately sought in his touch before they were interrupted. She yanked her hand away from his grip and pursed her lips, "You can’t address me as Babe again."
His brows drew together as he looked up at her, "Why?" he asked, confused and amused at the same time by her expression. He wasn’t used to seeing her embarrassed and avoiding eye contact. She was always defiant and daring to him, but today, she looked as shy and embarrassed as an innocent child who’d been caught doing something naughty. He found this part of her even more lovable and adorable, but her defiant side was what he liked all the more.
If it were before, she would have glared at him, but now, she had her head to the side as she replied to him, "Only couples, boyfriend and girlfriends can use such terms to address each other. We are not in such a relationship..." she muttered, her fingers clutching the sides of her dress while fighting not to bolt from the room. Why was she feeling shy like a teenager? She was a grown adult, for goodness sake! Was it because she had never been caught doing any of this in her time?
"Then be my girlfriend," came Lucian’s words that made her head jerk in his direction in surprised disbelief. She couldn’t believe he had asked her to be his girlfriend. No one had ever asked her to be that to them. She had never been anyone’s girlfriend. She opened and closed her mouth as she seemed at a loss for words because of her foggy brain that was still trying to calm down after their kiss.
"You..." she began to say, but before she could complete her words, Lucian had spoken again, with a serious look on his face. "You don’t have to give me the answer now. If you don’t want to marry me, then I want you to be mine," he said, his smoldering amber eyes locking with hers as he watched heat rush to her fair cheeks, and then she hurriedly turned away from him again.
"Why are you shy, Babe?" he questioned with his lips pulling up into a smirk as he watched her in amusement. "I thought women from your time didn’t know what embarrassment and shyness are, judging from everything you’ve told me about your time, so why are you?" He wasn’t used to seeing this side of her.
Pursing her lips, she raised her chin up high and then turned to look at him with a small glare in her light, sparkling eyes that always reminded Lucian that his Ave was in this body and not that betrayer Selene. "Who told you people from my time don’t feel shy and embarrassed? And who said I am feeling that way now?" she scoffed with a feigned bravado, while deep down, she was feeling just that in his presence.
Lucian arched a brow and then tilted his head to the side, a smile playing on his handsome face. "You are not shy?" he questioned in a thick whisper that sent gooseflesh to burst on her skin and made her heart misbehave.
Ave nodded. "Yes, I am not," she said, all the while trying to keep eye contact with him.
"Then prove it to me," he challenged calmly, knowing from her personality, she would never back down from a challenge, if only just to prove him wrong.
"How?" Ave asked.
"Come sit on my lap and kiss me the way I did to you earlier." He challenged her, fighting to hold back his pleased smile when her eyes trembled and her face turned even redder.
