Chapter 133: Chapter 133:Camping [4]
Levi was frozen in the air mid-grapple, as two extending wires started at his waist and ended on the ground, pulling him away from the wolf.
Coal was covering his right ear with one hand while rapidly running to the cliffside, looking downward.
Chae, Melissa, and Charlotte were all beside Mira with their backs against the wall as they covered their ears.
Somehow, even without her two hands, Charlotte seemed to continue putting the wolf to sleep as with elemental sight, I could see drowsiness particles flowing out of her body.
Finally, above everyone and on the staircase, Mira was desperately peeking over the edge of the mountain with her mouth open, seemingly trying to talk to someone.
Keeping my ears open, I approached the wolf, which had its head raised with its mouth aimed forward.
There was enough space in between the ground and the bottom of its chin, so I leaped forward, feeling time return to normal.
Although I had originally planned to slowly take out the wolf by dealing small bits of damage with my sword, the choice was now out of my hands.
I had no time for that.
It was all or nothing.
As the elemental particles began surging up the wolf’s throat again and time resumed to normal, I jabbed my sword forward at the skin in front of the crystal.
*BANG*
A deafening bang reverberated throughout my ears as the sphere within Fenrir’s mouth burst like a balloon.
It felt as if my very existence were breaking apart, as my entire body began shaking uncontrollably.
My head felt as if it were going to explode, my eyes uncontrollably closed, and my body went numb.
But...that was just the precursor.
The sphere was simply a way for the wolf to turn the sound elemental particles into actual sound waves.
With its mouth open to the maximum, Fenrir, oblivious to my existence, prepared to release everything.
And, it did...for a second.
"AHH-"
Being the closest to the wolf’s mouth, I was immediately hit with the loudest and most dangerous particles.
Simultaneously, though, the tip of my blood-red blade pierced through the wolf’s skin, embedding itself in the sound core behind.
*SHATTER*
With a single touch, the core shattered, and the wolf’s scream immediately halted as it had no way to control the sound anymore.
Thus, the sound waves and particles within the wolf’s mouth remained as the wolf couldn’t command them to leave.
Then, like a self-destructing bomb, they exploded.
The wolf’s head burst upward into the air from the impact, as pitch-black smoke emerged from its ears, before lifelessly falling to the right.
*CRASH*
As the dead beast’s head fell to the right, I felt its fur instantly hit me and slam me to the ground.
The wolf’s head landed on me, covering my body completely, but I didn’t feel anything.
I only heard.
Heard.
Heard.
Heard.
Thousands of unknown voices speaking incoherent words flooded my ears, overwhelming my brain and forcing my entire body to shut down.
My heart rate slowed to a minimum, barely enough to keep me alive, and my entire body was paralyzed from head to toe.
All I could do was lie down and suffer.
There was no escaping.
I couldn’t even feel the massive head or the soft fur of Fenrir’s corpse atop my figure.
It felt as if chains had been tied around every single part of my body.

It felt as if there were millions of people screaming various random words into my ears without stopping.
There wasn’t a single pause.
I wanted it to stop.
I wanted it to end.
End it.
Please
But, it didn’t.
I begged my body to fall unconscious, but it didn’t.
I was fully awake.
I wanted to die.
As long as it stopped, I didn’t care.
Why would it stop?
Where was I?
Who was I?
Not a single thought could form in my head before being destroyed by an onslaught of voices.
My memories started to fade, I forgot things I shouldn’t, and my will to live disappeared.
...
...
...
Covering his ears, Coal prepared for the worst, ready for the cliffside’s sudden descent to the ground at any moment.
*BANG*
But..that was it.
With one simple bang sound, weaker than the previous roar, the wolf...fell to the ground?
Was it dead?
Had it killed itself while trying to attack them?
Slowly removing his hands from his ear, Coal approached the wolf’s head and touched it.
Its body was cold to the touch.
Fenrir had truly died.
What kind of luck was this...?
As Levi landed on the ground a couple of feet behind him, Coal signaled to the girls by the wall that the attack was over.
Slowly removing her hand from her ear, Charlotte paused for a moment before asking, confusedly.
"Did it...kill itself?"
Poking the wolf’s frozen eyes, which were wide open in pain, Levi answered after a moment.
"Seems like it. Probably tried to gather more elemental particles than it could handle, and an elemental reaction occurred within its mouth."
Leaving the cliffside and stepping back onto the mountain, Levi and Coal joined the girls in leaning against the mountain wall.
After a moment of silence, Coal sighed and looked down.
That was far too close for comfort.
Above them all, Mira simply stood still, her eyes wide open, as she stared at the wolf with a distraught expression.
Was it playing...dead!?
It had to be.
B-rank beasts weren’t stupid; they couldn’t kill themselves...could they?
Snapping her back to reality, the floating and rugged figure of Evangel under the cliffside, with both her palms pressed against its bottom, flashed across her vision.
Had she held onto the cliffside to protect everyone despite the attack...?
Raising her hand to signal it was over, Mira peered downward, spotting no students or teachers at the basecamp, and yelled.
"You can let go!"
