The discussion wasn’t loud. But it wasn’t especially soft, either. Qin Muran heard it all.

"What did you say? Repeat it if you dare!"

Xi Yaohua had just entered the changing room when his cell phone rang.

He saw that it was from a colleague and immediately picked it up, "Hello."

"Chairman Yaohua," It was a polite greeting. "Could you immediately come to the police station?"

"Police station?" Xi Yaohua frowned, "What happened?"

There was a pause before the other party said, "M-Miss Qin is at the police station now."

"Muran is at the police station?" Xi Yaohua was confused, "What’s going on? How did she end up at the police station?"

The other person hesitated again before stammering, "Miss Qin was having a squabble with another artiste, and then... and then, they started fighting. Someone called the police, so she and the other artiste are having their statements taken now."

"She fought with someone?" Xi Yaohua couldn’t believe what he heard. The Qin Muran he knew was gentle. How could she end up fighting?

"Is she hurt?"

"Miss Qin has some scratches on her face and arms. Besides that... she seems fine."

When Xi Yaohua arrived at the police station, Qin Muran had just had her statement taken. She hurried towards him and hugged him the moment she got out.

She shivered as if she was really in fear.

Xi Yaohua looked down and saw her teary eyes and pale cheeks. Her face had been scratched, and the two lines across her cheek were rather startling.

Xi Yaohua hugged her tight and comforted her gently, "Muran, don’t be afraid. I’m here. With me around, nobody will dare to hurt you again. Don’t be afraid..."

Qin Muran sobbed in his arms, "Brother Hua, you’ve got to stand up for me. My face is scratched now, how will I take up future gigs?"

She depended on her face for a living. Such a wound wouldn’t recover within the week. But her schedule was packed, and she didn’t even have enough time to rest.

Although he couldn’t do much to the actress under another company, he couldn’t possibly let someone bully his woman like that.

Qin Muran was about to say something when he frowned and asked, "Where’s Linda? Why isn’t she with you?"

Upon hearing that, Qin Muran blinked innocently, and tears rolled down her cheeks once again.

"I argued with Linda because of a minor misunderstanding, and she suddenly said she wanted to quit. She even mocked me and said my acting wasn’t good, and that I wasn’t suitable to be an actress. She told me to go for variety shows instead."

Xi Yaohua was shocked, "Linda said she wants to quit?"

Linda was a long-service employee at Global World Entertainment. She’d been under them for about 10 years. Why would she suddenly want to quit?

"Yes," Qin Muran glanced at Xi Yaohua and said, "We had some arguments in the past too, over some disagreements. But we usually settle it very quickly. I’m not sure why she flared up so terribly this time and said she didn’t want to be my manager anymore. She even said she’d tell you about this. I thought you knew."

Qin Muran was aggrieved. She still hadn’t figured out why Linda suddenly turned against her. Just because she wanted to back out of "Imperial Palace"?
