Chapter 91: A different Storm
Chapter 91: A different Storm
"Why are you kind to me? You are not like the other man who looked like he was moments from killing me."
God, I can’t forget the pain of having someone tug hard on my hair. That man seemed like he was trying to kill me!
Of course, he wanted to kill me. Who was I kidding?
He shrugged, "I don’t have anything against the people of Amal. Pal is that way because his wife was killed by hunters from your kingdom. That was why he bears so much hatred for you. It’s not personal."
Of course, it’s not personal. Yet, he took it like that, almost killing me before I can start my new task!
The man dragged me down the hall, tugging on my chain, but not hard enough to choke me. The hall was so dark, it took a lot of squinting for me to be able to make out the way, but it didn’t seem to be a problem for the wolf leading me.
He walked through the dark halls, like one traipsing around his house, while I trudged behind him, barely escaping hitting my head on the wall.
The farther we went, the brighter the hall became until we stepped out into the open. I had to close my eyes at the sharp pain that went through my skull —the pain that threatened to blind me.
I winced, trying to get my eyes adjusted to the light. The shouts from below caused me to open my eyes. I snapped it open, only to close it back when I saw the crowd below.
We are in a sort of tower with a glass floor, it was transparent enough for those down, to see me.
The man holding my chains tugged it, and I begrudgingly followed, opening my eyes to prevent any collision with whatever might be on my way.
I followed the man until we reached the Gallows. However, that wasn’t what caught my eye. Neither the hanging gallows nor the guillotine caught my eye. It was the man sitting on a raised dais.
There is no way I will not recognize those familiar blue orbs. Storm. His black hair is tied up in a tight man bun.
My eyes trailed from his hard cold eyes to the sharpness of his jaw, which was clenched so tight, it seemed he was trying to break his teeth.
He’s bare from the waist up with a robe tied on his waist, just like in ancient dramas. On his packed hair is something like a mini crown, that seemed to be made entirely of silver.
On either side of him are two guards, one of which I recognized as the man who almost killed me in the prison.
My breath hitched in my throat when I locked eyes with the man. The animosity in that gaze can’t be mistaken. I can tell how much he wishes to strangle me right here.
A tug on my chains sent me to my knees. I placed my hands on the floor, to soften my fall.
The people below screamed at that, bellowing at the top of their lungs. I gritted my teeth at the pain that shot through my body from the fall. It seemed like the prince I’m residing in his body went through so much at the hands of the guards here.
The shouts stopped when Storm rose from his throne room. His blue eyes fixed on mine. However, instead of the caring and loving expression on his face, he looked just like his guard who has been sending death glares my way.
I’m not just ready for a Storm like this. I want the Storm who treats me like I’m the only man, I’m the entire world.
But I know I can’t have him, at least for now. I need to find a way to get out of this predicament before I’m killed by the same man I came over to save.
I can tell why Fan spoke of Storm as if he’s an unhinged animal. The darkness brewing in his eyes spoke volumes.
He closed the distance between us and stood in front of me, however, his focus was no longer on me. He’s now staring down at the people below.
"Today, you all are here to witness the death of the last prince of Amal, and the only surviving person in the entire kingdom!"
More boos accompanied his words.
My heart hammered in my rib cage.
Without thinking, I lurched towards him. Before any of his guards can react, I wrapped my hands around his legs and hugged him tight.
"Please, don’t kill me!" I cried out, weeping as I clutched him hard.
"Hey!"
There were shouts as his guards ran towards us. Storm was too frozen to speak. He didn’t even move his body while I held tight, not ready to willingly let go of my hold on him.
"Please!" I cried out when I was ripped away from him. "No! Let me go!" I cried out, trying to touch him, but I was blocked by the men. I got a blow on my stomach Instead.
"Let me go! Please save me, Storm!" I cried out when one of the guards hit me on the head. My head swam, yet, I didn’t cease calling out to Storm. I struggled against their holds, trying to get them to let me go, but they didn’t do as I wished.
Storm stood in front of me and watched me with no emotions on his face. His blue eyes stared hard at me, swirling with darkness that wasn’t present in the eyes of the Storm of Dark Moon.
"Help me!" I thrust my hand out as if I were expecting him to take it.
"Shut up!" The guard whose wife was killed by my pack, hit me so hard on the stomach that I doubled over, crying out in pain, gasping for my Storm to help me out, but no help came.
My Storm isn’t the one standing in front of me. He’s a stranger who has the face of the father of my child.
I failed this world before it began. I’m sorry, Fan. You shouldn’t have put your trust in me.
