Chapter 70: What’s your relationship with him?
"Strawberry!" He chased after me after locking his door behind him, but I ignored him. "Okay, I apologize for whatever it is I did to you," he said when caught up with me.
A few of the Alphas we met on our way out were either returning to their dorms or going to the cafeteria. They didn’t spare us more than a look, probably because of Storm, whose reparations far preceded him.
I haven’t seen the side of Storm others know, and that made me curious to know the actual side that makes students tremble when they see him.
"Strawberry?" He held my hand in his. "What’s wrong? Why are you angry? Did I do anything to piss you off?" He gently asked as he laced our fingers.
I glanced down at his gesture, "nothing." Holding my hand has somehow erased my anger over how he left me high and dry.
"Nothing?" He stopped me. "I’m glad you are not," he leaned in and pecked me on my forehead. "If you need anything —"
I froze when I noticed a pair of green eyes, staring intently at me. Sky stood a distance from where we were, with his entire focus on us.
"What’s wrong, Strawberry?" Storm asked.
"Go ahead to the cafeteria, I will be right back. I wish to speak with Sky." I made to remove my hand from his, but he tightly held them.
"Who’s Sky? The Beta?" He looked towards the place Sky was.
"Yes. I need to confirm something. Wait for me at the cafeteria, I will—"
"You are not going anywhere near him!" He tightly held my hand, "that damned Beta is suspicious! I won’t let you go close to him." He said in a serious tone, with his teeth clenched tight.
"I just need to ask him something. You don’t—"
"Then, let me go with you. I can stand a bit farther while you ask him whatever you wish. As for letting you go to him alone, I’m not doing that." He stubbornly glared at me.
I sighed, "Sky is my friend. He won’t hurt me," I leaned in and pecked him on his lips. "I won’t be long, I promise. If I stay past 30 minutes, you can come to look for me. After all, I bear your mark. You can find me easily," I tried to ease his worries as I glanced towards Sky, only to notice that the Beta was already leaving.
"Straw—"
"I promise!" I hugged him before I removed my hand from his and ran after the retreating Beta.
"Sky! Wait!" I called out to him as I ran to keep up with him.
He stopped, "what do you want?" He asked, with his focus on the Omega’s building.
I glanced around the empty field before I focused on his back, "didn’t I tell you that I have something I need to ask you?" I folded my arms.
From my peripheral, I can see Storm still standing in the position I left him on. Undoubtedly, he’s going to stay there and watch me until I return.
"What do you wish to ask me, Brys? Your Alpha looks impatient." The way he said those last words sounded biting. It proved that he wasn’t happy, which is understandable.
To him, I chose Storm and refused him. But that’s not my damned fault.
Compared to Storm, Sky treated me much better, but you can’t tell the heart whom to love. I had to fall for the same person I vowed to eliminate.
".... He’s not the..."
"What do you want?" He snapped at me. "What do you wish to ask me? Out with it, already. I don’t have all the time in the entire world to wait on you."
"... He tried to force me last night," I suddenly said.
"Who? Storm? That damned Alpha!" He turned to look at me, with his green eyes narrowed in anger, at the wrong person.
"No, not him." I shook my head as I closed the distance between us, "Storm didn’t force me."
"Then, who did it?" He stared at me as if he were trying to know if I’m lying or telling the truth.
"Mr Kim —the principal. He attempted to force me last night. Storm was there to save me."
"Damn that man!" He clenched his fists. "I should have known he wasn’t up to any good."
The expression on his face made me take a step back in shock. I have never seen him this pissed before. He looked so damned murderous, it scared me.
"... What’s your relationship with him?"
"Who? Mr Kim?" He furrowed his brows.
"Hmm."
They don’t seem to have an ordinary relationship, and that makes me eager to get to the bottom of this mystery.
He blinked, "why will you think we know each other?" His voice quivered a bit when he asked the question.
"You guys seem a bit too... Familiar with each other. It makes me wonder if something is going on between you two. Are you related?"
"Damn hell, I will be related to him," he ran a hand through his hair. "I just happened to meet him here in this school. That’s all."
"Hmm." I suspiciously raised a brow at his words, but didn’t comment on it.
"Did he hurt you? Are you okay?" He took a step towards me.
"I’m good," I forced a smile as I discreetly took a step back. "What were you doing in the forest we competed in?"
"Me?"
He didn’t sound as shocked as he was supposed to. It sounded like he knew I saw him.
"Hmm. What were you doing there?" I folded my arms.
"Well, I was taking a walk," he ran a hand through his hair once more —a nervous gesture.
"A walk? During school hours?" I scoffed. "I’m not a kid, you know? You don’t have to give me such petty lies, Sky. What were you doing there?"
He sighed, "it will be better if you drop the matter. Curiosity killed the cat. I will advise you to live a happy life with your Alpha, and stay away from Mr Kim." He turned, "have a great day, Brys. I might change schools to Howl Academy next week if everything goes according to plans."
"Sky," I took a step forward.
"Your Alpha is getting rather impatient. I have to go." He changed into his beautiful golden wolf and raced towards the Betas’ dorm without waiting for me to complete my words.
