Chapter 136: What will you do with him?

STORM

I knew he would return to check on the young boy we captured, but I didn’t try to follow him, knowing he needed to discover the truth on his own. Kim, the culprit of more than 10 mass homicides, has one peculiarity, and that’s murdering those who fully trust him. For now, Brys is safe. I doubt he has gotten to the point of being targeted by Kim — just yet.

"My prince, do you need me to check on him?" Ray fell in line with me as I went over to the blueprint room, trying not to think of Brys.

What he said is true. I need to stop acting like he’s out to cheat on me any chance he gets, but I can’t help it, not when he’s too cute for his own good.

"No, don’t. I need him to discover the truth on his own," I continued down the hall, pretending like I didn’t have the urge to turn around and stalk him instead of going forward.

I need to show him that I don’t care about him... Okay, Idocare about him. But he doesn’t need to know about that.

"Are you taking him with you on the quest?" Ray asked, despite knowing the answer to that.

As Brys doesn’t have any Alpha blood in him, I can’t be able to take him to the forest lest he gets torn to shreds.

"You should know the answer to that," I opened the door and strode into the room, with Ray close behind me.

"... So, you are leaving him here?" He slowly asked, looking like he didn’t wish to anger me by asking the question.

"No, I’m not," I strode towards my chair, and glanced at the papers on the table before I turned my attention to the door, placing my hand under my jaw as I tried not to think of Brys, but it was damned impossible.

"Then, what are you going to do?!"

"Kill him," I replied, not giving out any expression at all.

"What?!" Ray placed both hands on the table and leaned towards me with a shocked expression on his face. "What the damned hell are you talking about?"

I shrugged, showing him that I was not joking. If I can’t take him with him, I can’t leave him here lest he...

Okay, I need to stop thinking of him cheating with others.

But it’s almost impossible!

What the damned hell is wrong with me?!

"You can’t do that," he straightened, glaring at me. "Why do you think slaying someone answers all your questions?"

"Because it does?"

"You can think of something else to do with him. Perhaps, you can —"

"He will stay with you," I pinched the bridge of my nose, attempting to look indifferent, knowing how much I wished to take him with me, but I knew I couldn’t.

".... M...Me?" He gaped at me, looking more shocked than he had ever been since I knew him.

"Yes. He will stay with you since he considers you as a friend," I picked one of the books and leafed through it, not in the mood to study anything.

Father intends to wage war on the kingdom across the sea, and he wishes for me to go through the plan here, but I’m not in the mood for it.

Funny how someone who lives for the thrill of war couldn’t even be bothered by it since —

"What of your brother? Are you just going to ignore the attempted assassination?" He folded his arms and gave the books on the table a look before he focused once more on me.

"I have a plan," I dropped the book and joined my hands. "I need to catch him in the art."

"And you think it will be easy to do that? Theo is as crafty as a fox. I need to find the right occasion to convict him," I touched my jaw as a smile graced my face. It will be fun to see how far he will go before he’s caught.

"All the more reason to —"

"Have you found the man, yet?"

"No, but —"

A knock sounded on the door, interrupting his words.

With a frown, Ray strode to the door and opened it.

"What is it?" He asked the person at the other end.

"The queen asked for the presence of her son in her garden," a guard replied.

"Okay," Ray banged the door in the guard’s face before he turned to me. "Are you going?"

I sighed, ran my fingers through my hair, "of course. I’m just not in the mood to listen to her rants, should I not do that."

The queen is used to getting her way. And as she hasn’t seen me for close to a week now, I bet she has countless stories to tell me.

"Then, I will go with you?"

"Nah," I waved him off, knowing that having him with me would only mean I get to spend more than an hour with my mother since she loves conversing with him.

"Then, I will return to the task you sent me to. As for the prince, I still think you need to clip his wings now before you leave," he said in a grave tone. "Leaving him this way might prove disastrous to you. You’ve got to listen to me."

"I know," I rose from my chair, and circled my table, stopping in front of him. "You are not as eager as I am to get rid of that brother of mine."

Not only have I despised him since we were little because of what he did to me, but it has something to do with Brys. The look of recognition that was in Brys’ eyes on the first day they met, isn’t something I can overlook.

At least not when it’s something that’s got to do with my brother.

"Then, why are you still not taking any action? He almost killed —"

"This is my business, not yours, Ray. I will do it when I think the time is Right. As for now, I have a meeting to catch up with."
