Tokyo: Rabbit Officer and Her Evil Partner
Chapter 128 - 50: We Are All Good Brothers

Chapter 128: Chapter 50: We Are All Good Brothers

The police station sent Kamei Riko to mandatory psychiatric treatment overnight.

Early in the morning, the Police Chief was so angry that he played "Meditation" and "Hail Mary" three times in a row before he could barely calm down.

He first called Officer Sakai into the office and gave him a severe scolding; then he had Minamoto Tamako come in, saying he was sorry she was frightened. He explained that the police station’s interrogation procedures are usually formal, but this time it was an unexpected situation; finally, he called in Fushimi Roku and Kazama Tatsuya to ask how they intend to wrap up the case.

Kazama Tatsuya wanted to make a big issue small and a small issue disappear, but before he could speak, Fushimi Roku painted an enticing picture for the Police Chief—this guy started by saying if the case was handed to him, it could make the news headlines. When the Police Chief is interviewed by multiple media outlets, it would also be beneficial for the police station’s development.

The Police Chief didn’t buy it. Without conclusive evidence, no matter how eloquent Fushimi Roku was, it wouldn’t work. He leaned back in his office chair, holding back his temper, and said, "I’ve seen the interrogation records. Since you say someone used the suspect’s dog to incite her to murder, then I ask you... where is the dog?"

"Give me three days; I can absolutely find it!" Fushimi Roku said.

"It’s not about finding it or not. She’s mentally ill. Are you mentally ill too? There simply is no dog!"

The Police Chief clenched his right hand and knocked on the table with his knuckles, impatiently saying, "I’ve read the investigation report. The suspect’s dog was euthanized by the health center six months ago for attacking children, and her license to keep a pet was revoked. Neighbors haven’t seen her with a dog since then, nor heard any barking... do you get it? The pet dog is all in her imagination. Her dog died long ago!"

Kazama Tatsuya was especially surprised. He almost believed Fushimi Roku’s tale, thinking someone manipulated Kamei Riko with a pet dog... but now that it appears the pet dog doesn’t exist, this is just a simple impulsive murder case.

Fushimi Roku raised his eyebrows, clasping his hands behind his back, and argued, "No, Kamei Riko definitely kept a dog. I have evidence..."

Officer Sakai chimed in, "Are you talking about the video from the camera? All the footage is from over six months ago, and there was no dog in the video shot yesterday."

"Last night Officer Minamoto and I encountered the suspect while she was walking her dog, and Minamoto even got attacked by that dog..."

Before Fushimi Roku could finish, the Police Chief sat up straight: "She wasn’t hurt, was she?"

"No, the problem is that the dog was very suspicious..."

"Why were you two walking together late at night? Are you close personally?" the Police Chief asked again.

Fushimi Roku straightforwardly revealed, dropping any pretenses, "She plans to hang out at my place; we’re considering renting together for a while."

The office was silent for five seconds.

The Police Chief smiled, thinking no wonder the Police Chief both promoted and suppressed this young man; he never understood the Police Chief’s intentions until now...

"I just thought it over, Mr. Lu, what you said indeed makes sense," the Police Chief said earnestly: "This case is yours to handle. Actually, I’ve always thought highly of you. Although there is some pressure, it’s inconvenient for me to say, but I really don’t want to bury a talented youth like you."

Fushimi Roku nodded repeatedly, and the two shared a smile, feeling very pleased.

Officer Sakai thought to himself something’s not right. On Fushimi Roku’s first day, didn’t you say privately that this guy looked like a troublemaker? And you even specifically instructed her to have the section chief transfer Fushimi Roku to the patrol post... how can you change your attitude just like that?

Kazama Tatsuya tried to dissuade them, but it was to no avail. The Police Chief decisively resolved the matter with a few words and painted a picture for Fushimi Roku: If Fushimi Roku really found the evidence, proving it was a murder case, arrested the perpetrator, and successfully turned the case over to the prosecution, then he would deem Fushimi Roku’s probation successful.

"As long as you can prove you have this capability, I also hope talented youths like you can shine and succeed in your position sooner."

The Police Chief said this without turning red, his tone exceptionally natural, like a kind elder giving advice to a newcomer.

After Fushimi Roku and Kazama Tatsuya left the office, he immediately instructed Officer Sakai to investigate—if Fushimi Roku and Minamoto Tamako really were living together, have the jurisdiction patrol police offer some support; if not, then ignore him, and if the case is botched, it’s his responsibility.

Meanwhile, Minamoto Tamako was sitting at the entrance of the police station, anxiously waiting.

When the two exited the office, she quickly went up to ask about the situation. Fushimi Roku was truthful, not even hiding the fact that they were thinking of renting together from the Police Chief.

Upon hearing that they were allowed to handle the murder case, Minamoto Tamako jumped with joy, almost wanting to hug Fushimi Roku and kiss his cheek... loyal dog Fushimi finally achieved great success! It wasn’t easy!

"Well done!" She gave a thumbs up, having no concern for the Police Chief’s inquiry about renting together.

Kazama Tatsuya lit a cigarette aside, his mood terribly bad, and couldn’t help but ask, "How do you plan to investigate the case?"

"Not investigating," Fushimi Roku replied as usual.

"What does that even mean?" Minamoto Tamako didn’t get it.

"Literally, I just want to meet the perpetrator, investigating the case doesn’t matter," Fushimi Roku shrugged.

"If that’s the case, then I can arrange it," Kazama Tatsuya flicked the ash off his cigarette: "The case doesn’t have to be investigated, right?"

"You know them?" Fushimi Roku asked.

"I do," Kazama Tatsuya said: "Anyway, there’s no victim; could you conclude the case?"

"Of course, that couldn’t be better; we’re all good brothers, no need to be formal about it," Fushimi Roku said rubbing his hands with a smile: "Why don’t we go to Chinese Street for some dog meat hotpot? Eating flavorful meat in winter, it warms the body."

Minamoto Tamako was stunned, her little face turning, her eyes darting between the two: "You guys are joking, right? You must be joking, right? Hey, why is no one responding to me?"

Seeing Fushimi Roku ignoring her, Minamoto Tamako was genuinely angry. She stomped her foot hard, protesting loudly, expressing that if Mr. Fushimi neglected his duties, not only would he fail his probation, but might even be dismissed by the police station!

"Then so be it," Fushimi Roku said instinctively.

Initially, he wanted to be a patrol police just to have enough to eat. Now he no longer lacks money; sitting downstairs with a chair to watch the scene would have the same effect. Why clock in every day working twelve hours?

But after speaking, he realized something was off, glancing down, and sure enough, Minamoto Tamako was starting to cry like a flood.

"You, you said if I performed well, you would become a sunny, cheerful boy, not hold grudges, work seriously, and treat people generously... was my performance not good enough?"

"Hey hey hey, why are you crying... you’re going too far, I never said the second half of that sentence!"

"So, so, what will it take for you to investigate seriously?" Minamoto Tamako, who seldom stuttered, asked sincerely with tears in her eyes: "Can I offer to cook for you for a month?"

"I can cook myself."

Fushimi Roku turned his face away, thinking this was a trap, a bad woman manipulating his life trap!

The time to test his willpower had come. Back then Kujo Yua said he would never resign, now he was going to prove to that lady what a man with A-level willpower was!

"I, I can help you wash your feet..." Minamoto Tamako’s voice grew smaller and smaller.

She felt she really had nothing that could move Fushimi Roku.

"Foot massage maybe, but who can’t pour water?" Fushimi Roku sneered.

"Fine then." Minamoto Tamako lowered her head, pouting, her index fingers touching each other.

Fushimi Roku turned around, placing his hand on Kazama Tatsuya’s shoulder: "Sorry, senior, I have to investigate this case."
